Casual dining spot right next to Northeastern. Their menu is very extensive from Skewers to Sushi and pretty decently priced for Boston. I got the squid skewers which were nicely grilled. The waitress was great and gave me a side of spicy mayo for it. The Sake Ikura Don was fresh and filling. Beef Sukiyaki is great value and there was so much noodle that we had to take leftovers home

My husband and I really enjoyed our evening here.My stomach was a little funny so I went low key and got a miso soup, a single chicken skewer and a avo-cucumber roll. It was the perfect amount of food for me at that moment. All three items were delish. My husband got the Kimchi Jigae and he liked it very much. This place was HOPPING by the time we left. It's clearly well liked - even the bar seating was full. We were served quickly and kindly by the waitstaff and they were moving people along. I hope to get to visit this restaurant again when I am able to eat more!

My wife knew that I've been craving yakitori, so she surprised me by taking me here for a dinner. In short, this was less yakitori and more Chinese skewers. The food here is priced pretty fair, so that was nice. And alcohol selection had some interesting sake that went well with the food. Service was nice and quick and ambiance was just your regular run of the mill restaurant. Nothing special but nothing glaring.Udon: It was actually very nice. Very nicely flavored and not too salty and was nice to have the soup on the side with everything else.Skewers/yakitori: All of the skewers had this spice/powder mix. It is that Chinese mix that is typically put on meat skewers sold in China, mainly lamb skewers. Japanese yakitori typically use tare/soy sauce based sauce from what I've tried. I understand some places interpret food differently, but when it said yakitori, I expected it to have tare sauce that complement the meat well, but instead what we got was skewers that were covered in the powder and ended up being super herby. It works really well with the lamb, but I think they need to change to using tare or stop calling it yakitori (because yakitori is supposed to be either salt or tare). And maybe lighten up on the amount of powder. Overall, it wasn't the yakitori experience I expected, but if you just think of it as Chinese meat skewers, it's fine.

This is the best sushi deal in Boston - get the lunch special. $15 miso soup + 3 rolls , and the rolls are a great size! If you're still hungry, get another roll and you walk away with a filling, delicious, $20-$25 meal (with tax/tip) right in the heart of Boston. I don't know if it can get any better. Not to mention, the food is quite good. Not Michelin star or anything, but unbeatable for the price. You must go.

Ordered from Uber eats and got a teriyaki salmon and a caterpillar roll. Both were very solid but not too memorable. It's not my top pick for Japanese food in Boston but the prices and great and the quality is consistent! I will definitely return to try more of the menu in the future.

Honestly I really liked the green monster roll, and the calpico sake was fun and sweet. However the dinginess, particularly the carpet, of the place really took away from the experience. The place actually is bigger than it looks - there's even a lower floor. Restrooms are clean. Service was good. Overall not bad, just needs a refresh in appearance.

NOTE: This rating is ONLY for the yakitori items as we did not try anything else.I've been trying to find a yakitori place in the Boston area and hence decided to give this place a try.- Ordered the 20 piece - Yakitori Super Combo- Ended up with 10 pieces X 2 of each There is no variation in the taste of the 'yakitori' skewers as all they did was to grill them and put the same flavored powder on the entire set. Every single one of the item tasted the same and it was very hard to distinguish one type of skewer from another. I've had great 'yakitori' at other places (LA, NY) and unfortunately, this was a let down for me in terms of what I was expecting. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're looking for yakitori - I'm sure the other dishes are fine.Service was great, food came fast.

7.27.2022 No uni of any kind which is super disappointing for meOther food was average sushi. What's up very quickly and the waiter was nice I wish my water was refilled properly and on time but I didn't really need any extra water so I did not ask. Despite that if they poured more water I would have drank itThe pork belly was salty so I had to eat it with my spicy tuna sushi. I would not be able to eat it on his own but thanks goodness there was riceThe sushi sampler was OK it wasn't the most extra ordinary but it was tolerable.

Been here previously and both times are a hit. There's only street parking so that's going to be a bit rough during weekends and any events at the Symphony. This place has been around for awhile but is still very popular. The front staff was very courteous and made sure to get us to our table the instant it was available. The ambiance is very energetic and the low lighting really works for this place and is great for a date. I'd recommend sitting (if you're a party of one or two) at the 2 seater tables near the sushi bar. The big room towards the back and small set of stairs is usually packed with diners and bit noisy so harder to have a conversation. It is also a bit tight grouping of tables so if you're covid conscious, stay away. Hamachi Carpaccio - 4/5 - Very fresh, the spiciness from the sliced jalapenos and vinegary sweet soy really brought out the flavor profile of the hamachi. Hotate Yaki - 4.5/5 - Best hotate yaki I've had in a while. Came out nice hot and bubbly. They have a small steno flame going on to keep the contents bubbling and hot to your satisfaction. The intense flavor of the miso mushroom sauce was crazy good and actual scallop chunks really hit the spot. We scraped it clean. Lambchop & Kalbi Yakitori - 3.5 / 5 - I was a bit surprised of the heavy 5 spice powder seasoning on the lamb chop. It was somewhat overwhelming and masked a lot of the lamb chops taste. The kalbi was ok, not as flavorful or tender as I wanted. Eggplant - 4 / 5 - The plate was big and the miso on top really added a lot of flavor and seasoned just right. The presentation was good and it was really easy to scrape the eggplant right off with just a spoon. The edges were harder to eat but probably wasn't supposed to anyway. Overall, great dining and eating experience. Food is really right up there, service was excellent and the ambiance is energetic. Definitely will go back again to try other menu items.

The server was good, but the manager needs more training. If a customer, makes eye contact with you, and you ask if they are ready to order, do not walk in the other direction, just take the order. It is embarrassing for the establishment if the single server on the floor is running around like a chicken with her head cut off, and the manager does nothing to help her. He was hunched over his phone with AirPods in. He could have taken my order, left to go get a piece of paper and return to take the order with in less time than waiting for the only server to stop running food. If I had not said anything about it to the server, she would not have told him, and he would not have taken the AirPods out to start helping her. Too much cucumber in crazy roll for my liking, but still yummy. But the cucumber shouldn't take up half of the roll... also the end of the roll shouldn't have a piece of romaine lettuce in it--not even for presentation. Shishito peppers are okay. Shumai was gone before I could even say "shumai"--but that's just because anything fried will taste good. At the end of the meal, I tipped the server double because she deserves it. And I told the manager to his face that he should help her if she's running around. I told him that it is embarrassing for HIM as the MANAGER to have his AirPods and be answering text messages. He said "well she makes all the money so I'm not going to help her." That's the definition of a terrible manager. That's a really terrible place to work just because of someone like that. He is a sad excuse for a manager. Moral of the story: the manager should ALWAYS be helping the server, or there is something wrong with the establishment behind the scenes. And the food is subpar to make stop by here again. I hope the server quits and works somewhere else, she'd be happier and probably make more money. Obviously, I won't be returning.
