The sandwiches were good, with the shrimp katsu standing out as the best. The standard egg sando wasn't bad either. The interior seemed a bit rundown. As for the sushi, it was good and reasonably priced. We got the Salmon Lava Roll for $15. The flavor was enjoyable, though the texture was packed a bit tight; overall, I liked it. The service was prompt; they quickly recognized my pickup order. The mango pineapple smoothie was flavorful and went down smoothly. I guess that's why they call it a smoothie, lol. There's a small parking lot to the left of the store. Some spots may be designated for other businesses, so watch out for that. Finding parking has never been an issue for me.

I was SO happy to finally try Ichiban Sando this time in San Diego! I haven't seen a restaurant specializing in Japanese sandos before and Ichiban Sando did not disappoint We ordered a few sandos, tried their katsu curry, spicy salmon and viva Las Vegas sushi rolls. We would especially recommend their spicy chicken garlic x bomb sando, viet coffee, and brown sugar milk tea!

Yum, yum, yum! Cute little gem of a place! The staff is super friendly. Very down to earth, home-y feel. Menu is simple. You can either order off the kiosk or a person at the counter. Expect to wait a bit for your order, because the food is freshly made upon order! Their sandwiches are so filling. Be sure to grab a fork and a lot of napkins!! They share their spot with sushi restaurant. I was too stuffed to order, but it gives me a reason to return.

Delicious sandos!! I got 3 kinds and they all hit the spot, especially the spicy chicken katsu sando They use this katsu sauce which helps balance out the plainness of the milk bread. I just wish the bread was softer as it was quite crunchy from the toasting. I also ordered their Viet coffee and matcha milk which were both a bit sweet for my liking.

very yummy katsu sandos that are a bang for your buck!! the portions are huge and they have a wide selection on their menu thats not just sandos. only docking a star down because of the sauce, the protein was good, however, i felt like the sauce inside was just lacking extra flavor. also so happy that they have the strawberry sandwich, and was so excited to finally try it!other than that im so excited to come back and try their sushi boxes!

Personally was not a big fan of the sandwiches. The Katsu sandwiches were too sweet and there was too much bread in relation to the inside. Also, the fruit in the sandwich was weirdly sour... Made my stomach hurt after.

If you're not local to Chula Vista or surrounding areas I would say that this place is still worth the drive. I came down from North County to try this spot that everyone has been raving about! I am so glad I did.First things first: This restaurant is on the main drag called H Street, there IS a small parking lot but I imagine if you don't come early it'll pack up very fast. It's a small eating area, it's very no frills and there is NO bathroom, they do have a sink to wash your hands though. If you order for eat-in just keep in mind there is that limited seating. The food: A friend and I split 4 sandos (trust me it was too much food lol but I wanted to taste a few of them). Beef Menchi, Egg Salad, Spicy Katsu, and Spam + Avo (egg and cheese). I am glad we tried a few because it really let me get a feel for what I liked. Beef Menchi: Crispy and flavorful and very tasty, I would recommend this! I only have one gripe: I didn't feel the meat reached the back of the bread. Egg Salad: Very mild flavor, love a soft-boiled egg situation, but I think it needed more salt and pepper or special seasoning (I'm talking about MSG)Spicy Chicken Katsu: Not super spicy, they add fresh jalapeno to it, which I think adds spice, and the sauce on the katsu has some kick.Spam + Avo: The Avo on mine was a bit brown but I get how life works so no dings for that. The sauce drizzled on top might be Japanese mayo but I am not sure, it was a salty-sweet kind of sando and I liked it.

I'm glad I was finally able to try this spot! Order: SUSHI - Rainbow roll & Yellowtail sashimi: The portion was really good! The quality itself wasn't as fresh as I hoped but overall decent & curved my sushi cravings. KATSU SANDWICH: My husband enjoyed this! He thought the radio of chicken vs. bread was a little off. There was alooooot of chicken that we aren't complaining about but the bread wasn't as big / fluffy as the other photos showed. CUSTOMER SERVICE: The staff was very nice! I think they were under staffed because it was a bit of a wait, like 30-40 minutes after we ordered.
