Food was amazing. Was not expecting the young and loud crowd. Otherwise very good experience.

I made reservations for my birthday celebration and I wasn't pleased by the service myself and my guests received! A red flag I ignored was all the odd requirements that frankly are obvious. The first being a $200 minimum. Obviously with 8 or more guests that will be met. The main one that I should've considered however was the $20 food minimum.Fast forward to the day of my birthday reservation I was running a little behind. I decided to call the restaurant and ensured them I was on my way. Not even 15 minutes later a friend of mine who already arrived said the manager was asking about myself and the other guests! I told him tell him we are in the neighborhood, but had a hard time finding parking! (Southie sucks when it comes to parking and majority of the side streets are reserved resident parking!) Not even 10 minutes later the manager whose name is Chris calls me! I said the same thing I previously mentioned to the employee and my friend! I don't understand why this man was being so pushy! I called the restaurant no one shouldn't even have asked my friend! I finally got parking & myself and everyone else were seated and given the time we had to order sooner since the kitchen was closing soon which was fine. We get our drinks and one of my friends drinks tasted like syrup! No grendadine or any of the other stated liquors was being tasted! We sent back that drink. Then our food arrived & I ordered the chicken breast that came with green beans, cranberries & pecans in a glazed served with mashed potatoes. I also decided to order a side of biscuits since I read reviews about how good they are. The food I ate was good, but I wouldn't say it met my expectations from the reviews I read. One my friend's however experience wasn't that great! The side of macaroni and cheese tasted nasty! It looked like it was going to taste delicious, but it didn't taste like macaroni and cheese at all. We then sent that back. The bill comes and it was way over $400! We found out they were trying to charge us from the drink and dish we sent back among some other odd pricing including the $20 food minimum per person! Come to find out that DIDN'T include drinks! So allegedly we were told they did some fees to compensate or something like that. We got those odd charges and returned items removed after more than five minutes. To top it off I didn't even get a Happy Birthday from the staff! Most places sing that to guests as we all know. The atmosphere was to loud and a little to dim for my liking. We had to speak loud just to talk! Honestly this gave off pub/bar vibes versus a restaurant with a bar. From the nagging from prior to my dinner till the end I am disappointed! This is not how I wanted my birthday dinner to go! I feel the reviews about food are being exaggerated! This was NOT a southern style restaurant! I will not be returning!

My friend and I decided to come check out brunch here on Saturday and we were so glad we did! We came in before the crowd and were able to sit inside by the window. Greeted instantly we were able to put some drinks in while we had some time to look over the menu. I went with a virgin mojito, and it was sweet and refreshing. For an appetizer we went with cornbread. OMG! This cornbread was everything and more. The cornbread was savory and sweet topped with a plentiful amount of butter! You must order this if you go here. For my meal I went with the smash burger. It had 2 patties with melty cheddar cheese, avocado, crispy onions and serrano aioli. The bun was perfect for this thick sandy. It exploded with flavor I savored every bite! The side it came with was potato salad and it was solid. Will definitely be back!

This place is sooo good and worth every penny. Friendly staff. Great portions and delicious food. When ordering my entree I didnt know it came with breakfast potatoes so I ordered two dishes, be aware of that happy surprise. The blueberry french toast was good but not french toast. It's more of a thick bread but it was so soft and fluffy, would still recommend. Burnt end hash had lots of ingredients. Southern skillet was great. Honey butter cornbread was *chefs kiss*. All the drinks we got were tasty. Sat outside. Only street parking in the area with a lot of resident only so if driving leave early to have extra time to find a space. Definitely worth a visit!

Great food and even better prices! Sweet tea is delicious. Gumbo and shrimp and grits are spicy and packed with flavor. Portions are HUGE. Half fried chicken dinner is enough for two or three people. Staff is very friendly. Live music is loud, so if you are looking for a quiet dinner, this is not the place for you.

Didn't know what kind of food to really expect because "southern" and wasn't sure what they were really known forOrdered drinks which were very strong but good. For app, ordered a side of sweet potato wedges and they were just alright. I'm not sure what kind of sauce it was served with like a mix of mustard and mayo? Turns out to be bourbon infused. Definitely not worth $8 though. Ordered chicken & dumpling and the brisket plate for 2. For Boston.. BBQ was better than all that I've had tbh and it comes with 2 sides. The chicken & dumpling my bf said wasn't good. It was super hot from the cast iron pot and she said it was super thin like chicken noodle soup whereas more of a thicker consistency than she was expecting like potato soup Service was quick and good. Not much lighting and a small bar. Overall, not but super expensive!

Food: got the bacon dip and corn bread?. Both were quality. Full of flavor, as a matter of fact they need to bring the bacon jam back. Expeditiously. Service: service was great. But then again we sat at the bar on a weekday. So of course that impacted the experience. It was also before 5pm. Ambiance: Super warm feeling. Rustic interior, almost has a cabin feel to it. Location: there was a lack of parking which I'm not a fan of. I'd recommend public transit, Uber, or Lyft. There's other restaurants near by if you want to restaurant hop.

Hunter's Kitchen is a true gem, offering an unparalleled experience in Southern comfort cuisine that deserves a 5-star rating for its food. The star of the show is undeniably Lambo's Gumbo, a flavor-packed delight that strikes the perfect balance of spice and heartiness. The combination of sausage and seafood in this gumbo is a culinary masterpiece, creating a comforting and soul-warming dish that leaves a lasting impression! I'm actually writing this review as I indulge in a bowl right now. It's the kind of meal that brings a smile to your face and warmth to your soul.Beyond the outstanding food, I love the concept of the cabin interior, which is a true escape from the hustle and bustle of Boston. The rustic charm and cozy atmosphere transport you to a different world, creating a dining experience that feels like a getaway. The attention to detail in the cabin decor adds to the overall ambiance, making it a perfect setting for indulging in comforting and flavorful Southern dishes. Why I couldn't give this place a 5-star rating is for the outrageous lines and wait times on Sunday. Even when the place is clearly not at capacity, there always is a wait...

Went for dinner on Monday and the restaurant was out of shrimp, meaning no BBQ shrimp, shrimp&grits, gumbo, etc. This is a Southern restaurant and shrimp consists of half of the menu, how are you out of shrimp? So we decided to order ribs -- well they're out of that too. So what do you have? They should've given us a heads up before we sat down that the notable half of their menu was gone. Not to even mention some things we did order we just never received. We ordered brisket and never got it, and I especially remember telling our waitress because she asked if we wanted the family size. The service was terrible, our waitress ignored us the entire time. Not to even mention the portions were miniature, the biscuits were the size of munchkins and $2 a piece.
