Unfortunately, I had a business trip that I needed to make down in Houston during the pandemic. I still didn't feel comfortable dining in restaurants and room service at the Hilton was getting old. My son-in-law, who happens to be a nice young man of Chinese descent, recommended take-out from HUNG DONG Market as he grew up near Houston and Dong's Pork Bao and vegetable fried rice was a staple in his household growing up.I was a little nervous entering the market because it felt very foreign to me. However, I was overwhelmed by the hospitality of the workers. They treated me like I was an honored guest in their home. A young lady named (I believe) Sue Chin escorted me on my entire shopping adventure. Not only was she easy on the eyes, but she was incredibly helpful. She personally made certain that I avoided the older bao on display and even went to the back to score me bao fresh out of the oven! Sue Chin was such a doll! She insisted on watching over the checker to make sure I wasn't overcharged. As I left the store, she handed me a packet of complimentary lychee candy! I cannot thank her enough.Back in my room at the Hilton was the true test of HUNG DONG'S wares. And let me tell you, Hung Dong did not disappoint. Absolutely the best pork bao I've had in my life! And the vegetable fried rice was nothing to sneeze at either.I can say, without question, that this meal made my trip to Houston worthwhile. My business trip was a bit of a dud, but man oh man, I now have a place that I can recommend to anyone going to Houston!

I had to stop here for the name alone, as well as Eddie S. (1.0) vouching for it. Because I am a very mature adult I giggled appropriately at the name. But they don't sell what you think! Even though the only thing I was thinking when I saw the bright lights illuminating HUNG DONG from the highway was Frank Reynolds' line from one of the best episodes of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: "Whoops! I dropped my monster condom that I use for my magnum dong." They don't sell that here, but thanks for asking.I found this while on a brief frolic and detour from trying to find the Sam Houston Race Park for the Cirque du Soleil and being led astray by Siri for a few turns just within spitting distance of actually finding SHRP - he was promptly put in time out for that freshman move.I wanted to stock up on snacks that could be smuggled into Amaluna a la movie theatre style - I had the pocket depth for some real candy. Unfortunately I walked out empty handed. Nothing caught my fancy. Selection of snacks took a hit for one star and then the overwhelming smell that slaps you in the face as you walk in also reduced it a star. It's in a huge strip mall and parking is very limited. That might reduce star quality further. But if you use it as a waypoint when you try to find SHRP and Siri is sassin' you up with wrong directions, it's a good place to stop and look for snacks. Don't expect a five star assortment and be ready to become one with the overwhelming stench.

This Asian market is not the best but not the worst either. They have a meat and fish dept. Large frozen food section. Lots of dry food goods, kitchen & cooking items, noodles, rice fruit and whatever else they can fit into the store. While they have a fairly large tea selection, they didn't have what I wanted. The coffee selection is comprised of mostly instant G7. Only two ground coffee options which both are not worth the time.

Hung Dong, it's located near the corner of 249 and Smiling Woods Ln. It's just too good to be true I know. At first I was a little nervous about the size of it, but after a while I was ok with it.It's not that big. It's actually pretty small compared to Hmart or 99Ranch, which are larger, more manageable asian market where you can mentally prepare you for something unique like Hung Dong. Either way it's not the size that matters, this place has everything I need.

I move to TOMBALL almost a year now. We always go to this place. Yesterday I went to buy stuffs for Bun Bo hue. I missed some stuff, went again today. The cashier is rude, I almost go to another cashier. But it was busy so I stick with my line. I forgot my credit card, card reader can't read my debit card. I told her I will be back with another card. When I came back, they put back all my groceries. She said she still had the receipt if I want to go get it again. I asked to speak to the manager. She gave me attitude. She raised her voice and pointed at a group of people. So I went to talk to the manager. I'm getting sorry about that. I am Vietnamese. I understand the culture, custom even so I wouldn't tolerate the way they treated customer. I went home and ask my wife to find me another supper market, and also told her I will never go to this place again, nor eating the food from this place. Even though this place is very convenient for us, and their service was good to us until today. There is no way in this life time I will step into this place.

They must have gotten a change in ownership recently because when I was here last, the aisles were moved and torn down with products in carts. Turns out they were remodeling, because this time when I came in,the signs changed, the counters and a few products i haven't seen before are there. There also seems to be more people (other than the two women i normally see) running the front two counters.
