I mean if you want quick Chinese food, this is the place to go. For express Chinese I didn't really have high expectations. You kinda get what you pay for. The lady at the window was very friendly and prompt.I ordered the general Joe's chicken (as they call it) with fried rice and 2 egg rolls. My friend didn't care for it, but it was ok. I would prob give it a 2.5/5 I'll be back!

This is the best place in East to get Americanized Chinese food and it is so cheap! You can get 2-3 meals for under $10!

I'm so bummed as I type this, as I'd hoped this place would be my go-to Chinese restaurant. It won't be. The positive? It's a drive-thru with fast, courteous service and the food is piping hot. It's also cheap. The negative? You get what you paid for. I ordered Sa Cha Style with Shrimp. It was flavorless. And they don't give you a separate container of rice. They dump the entree on top with all of the sauce. My rice was sopping wet with it and that ruined the rice. Too much sauce with no flavor is not a good combo. I ended up dumping Sriracha Sauce on it to add flavor and picked out the shrimp and veggies, leaving the rice to its death by drowning. The eggroll was standard but the egg drop soup was bland. To add insult to injury, the little crunchy things that came with the soup were stale and the Fortune Cookie was too.I can't say I'll return for another try.

Great quick Chinese takeout spot. Super nice that they have a drive thru and everything is very cheaply priced. The drive thru line look really long, but it took less than 10 mins to get my food. The dumplings were $5 and each soup was a little less than $2.The dumplings were really good, although they were cold once I got home, but the sauce with them is incredible!! You also get 12 dumplings in one order which is very generous. The egg drop soup was my favorite soup. I would put the hot and sour soup in 2nd place, and wonton soup in 3rd place. The wontons and the dumplings are the exact same. I'm excited to try more food from here next time!

4 stars My go to spot for late night cheap eats. It's a drive through and it's super fast. The food is also good for Americanized Chinese. Their fried chicken wings are always bomb, also their dumplings are so good because of their homemade garlicky dipping sauce (seriously addicting). Their beef lomein is ok, however they definitely are generous and give you so much beef for the money. I mean we ordered a whole bunch of food for $30. You can't get that anywhere else. I definitely recommend if you are looking for late night, fast, cheap food.

Gentrifiers beware! This establishment will NOT be swayed by your "influencer" insta status nor your black leggings, jean jacket, and floppy hat combo! This right here is pure Americanized Chinese take-out. It is greasy, it is cheap, it is made with MSG, and yes you are racist for thinking MSG is bad for you. You will not find a brick and mahogany interior design aesthetic inspired by the Apple store. There are no gaudy balloon or wing murals to use as backdrops for your latest ego-boosting selfie. Instead, we find a pillar of the East Nashville community serving cheap, hot, and good food for many years. If you don't like it you can go back to 12 South.

We've lived here over four years and regret only now discovering HunanExpress. We ordered online and used the drive through so I didn't notice if they are seating inside. We got Hunan tofu over fried rice and LoMein with tofu. Both dishes were quite similar, the biggest difference being one was over rice and one over LoMein noodles. They both were full of vegetables and somewhat milder in spice than I anticipated so I was glad I'd asked for hot chili oil on the side. Each entree was enough for two meals and under $7 each. The small cup of hot sour soup was also mild, but flavorful. All dishes were piping hot so ready to eat when we got home. We'll definitely be picking up dinner here again, especially since eating out now during the pandemic is proving difficult.

The easiest dinner for the best value! A drive thru Chinese spot doesn't only exist in Dude, Where's My Car? It's real life in East Nash! Living close to this place is convenient and dangerous. My go to is an egg roll, shrimp & pork lomein, and occasionally dumplings. My partner loves their general tso's chicken & their grilled vegetables with chicken when he's looking for a healthier option. Don't let the exterior fool you, give this drive thru gem a try!

The inside is very basic, and it's clear that most people order food for takeout, but the food itself is very good! Everything seemed fresh for Chinese food and the proportions given are large--one entree is probably big enough for two people. The general "Joe" chicken is actually spicy too, which was a first for us. It's also equal proportions of meat and rice compared with other places being mostly rice. Overall, definitely recommend if you are looking for Americanized Chinese food; you will be disappointed if you are looking for Asian fusion.
