A small local Chinese restaurant in Chapel hill that I only heard of through a friend. Great Cantonese style cooking. Not incredibly busy or fancy decorations but sufficiently clean and acceptable dining experience. I'd rate it lower in terms of dining experience due to the ambiance if the food wasn't good but I think for Cantonese food in this area this may be one of the best. The boss is very friendly and the staff told us about the fresh vegetables and ingredients they had for the day. We were able to order dishes off the menu and they were delicious. Would go again.

First time trying Hunam. I ordered the shrimp egg foo young and it was delicious. The gravy was spot on which for me is the key piece of this dish. They made nice size pieces of egg foo young and I could only eat half of my lunch. This was accompanied with an egg roll which was just okay. The lunch special also came with fried rice which was okay too but I would have liked this dish to have more veggies etc mixed in. I will return to try another dish. The restaurant seems to have been around for a while and it was very busy for lunch.

I am a transplant from the NY/NJ area and have struggled to find "legit" Chinese food in the Triangle that lives up to my Northeast biased palette's expectations but Hunam checks the boxes. The spare ribs, Lo mein and fried rice are on point!!

Take out order. The spring rolls were good and so was the orange beef( though a bit dry) . The specialty fried rice has very little chicken , pork or shrimp.

Make sure you get the "Chinese menu", especially those who have an appreciation for "real" Chinese food. Very attentive service, even staying open for us way past closing time.

Meh. Food was very bland except for dumplings and soup that were ok. Service was ok. I didn't care for my beer bottle brought to me bottom down in my glass--where has that bottle been sitting? We won't be back.

We ordered takeout this evening- a beef chow fan and a beef noodle soup. They are below our expectation in ingredients and taste quite a bit. It must have a change in owner or/and chief these days. I will make sure not to order from them anymore.
