Yes Yes Yes, and again. This is our 50th anniversary, coming from Indy for a stay, and this was our choice! Can't say enough. Our server was great, our request for a certain table was honored, the food ( whitefish, 2 lobster tails, salad, crab cake, escargot, and shrimp cocktail) were perfect and incredibly tasty, with a comp creme brulee'. We came early and it is a nice walk from one of the many rentals close by in Gold Coast...Ah, the memories and the wonderful experiences of then and now!It brings back memories from the 70's when many night clubs along State, Rush etc. were also super elegant. My earliest experience @ 25, -two waiters pulled the table out, a white table-cloth with a candle and rose adorned. --there before you was a small dance floor & a great dance band playing smooth... It was early, but lovely wealthy locals were swirling a few. This too was also a great night!!

Hugo's Frog Bar & Fish House is pretty popular, and they're known for serving up frog legs. Our group, however, decided to partake in their other menu items instead. We tried:+the Lobster Cocktail+Firecracker Shrimp+the Admiral seafood platter - this came with oysters, shrimp, crabmeat avocado, and four 2 oz lobster tails+Lobster Rolls - this comes as 3 mini rolls, so definitely shareable+Hugo's Burger - comes with two 4 oz patties topped with white American cheese, dijonaise, and pickles; this was just okay, but the brioche bun could have been more fresh+Shrimp De Jonghe - shrimp prepared with dijon sauce, garlic bread crumbs, and basmati rice+Lake Superior Whitefish - served with mashed potatoes, grilled onions, and tomatoes+Chilean Sea Bass - miso-marinated and served with hon shimeji mushrooms, peas, and soy lemon butter; the miso was more on the sweeter side than savoryService is not this place's strongest suit, as the waitstaff are just inattentive and pretty much MIA until it's time for you to pay.Parking is pretty difficult in the area; best bet is to do a rideshare or park at one of the nearest garages.+non-existent service+difficult parking

My mom and sister took me out for my birthday on 3/19 and of course they took me to my FAVORITE restaurant in the city...Hugo's Frog Bar! We had an amazing experience. From the food, to the service and the overall ambiance- we had a great time. Per usual, we started with a round of martinis. For an appetizer we chose the mussels. Great choice and a very generous amount of mussels. We all ordered salads and then we ordered multiple dishes to share. We love a girl dinner where we split various dishes while we sip martinis and catch up! The walleye was excellent! The girls also loved the crab Mac and cheese, do not skip this dish! The skirt steak never misses and was cooked to perfection. However, the best part of the experience was the top notch service. We always request Rene as our waiter because he provides exceptional service every time. At the end of the meal he brought out Key Lime Pie for my birthday and himself and Frank sang Happy Birthday. It was lovely! Such old school Chicago vibes. The overall atmosphere of Hugo's is what continues to bring us back time and time again. We ended the birthday dinner the best way possible- with a round of espresso martinis. Thanks for the GREAT birthday experience Hugo's!

We finally made it down to Hugo's. It's located on Rush Street next door to its sister store Gibsons. This place stays busy. We arrived on time and had to wait a few minutes for our table to clear up. Overall the service was friendly, but a little too slow at the beginning. It took longer than usual time to place our order in. The food however, was fantastic. My wife ordered their Lake Superior Whitefish. It came with plenty of mash potatoes, grilled onions and tomatoes. The fish itself was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I ordered their Shrimp de Jonghe. You get eight lightly breaded in bread crumbs and garlic, served on top of basmati rice. This is one of my favorite dishes of all time and it definitely hit the spot. I would have preferred a little bit more breading, but overall great flavor. They also start you off with a soup or salad. We of course both chose their clam chowder soup. That also tasted phenomenal. Will definitely be returning.

Traditionally love Hugo's Frog Bar but disappointed this time. The ribs tasted like the petrified forest. They were so dry. And water dripping from the ceiling tiles. Disappointed.

Starting with the service that Josiah provided was phenomenal. The food was amazing. We did a tower which I failed to take a picture of. MyKids (14 & 17) and I tried frog legs and escargot which was absolutely delicious. We were recommended by family and friends and they did not disappoint.

Swung by for Happy Hour with friends, and had a really great time at Hugo's. We sat at the bar, and though I wasn't super clear what the Happy Hour prices were, I did know that oysters were a $1 and bottles of wine were half off! I do wish the oysters were juicier, and we did get some shells, but for $1 a pop, not complaining! The wine options were endless, and really happy with the bottle of sancerre we had. Also had bites like cheese dip and chips, steak and fries, plump shrimp cocktail and more.Service was great as well! Not a fan of their bathrooms, as there is an employee that is there helping you and providing little items you may need. I never carry cash with me, so it feels a bit awkward to accept help.

Every time I am in Chicago, I make sure that I grab a meal here. Whether it is in the afternoon or late at night, this restaurant does not disappoint! The have an extensive bar menu and a great food menu. Everything on the menu is delicious. I would say that some of the prices can be a little shocking for someone who isn't from or lives in Chicago, but is comparable to other restaurants in the Gold Coast. The service is always friendly. The ambiance is overall relaxed and dark. But if you want something more quiet, with a little more light, the dining room is a great option for seating. The bar area is always a vibe! The Food: Lobster Roll: I love how they call it a lobster roll on the menu, when it's actually 3 mini lobster rolls in a tower! What's better than 1 lobster roll? 3 lobster rolls! 5/5Lobster Cobb: Fabulous. Refreshing. Delicious. Perfection. This salad is FABULOUS. 5/5Fish & Chips: If you want something deep fried, this is a great choice. It had the perfect crunch with each bite. 5/5Mussels: These came with a HUGE order of fries. Top 5 mussels I have ever had. The sauce was perfect, especially to dip the fries into. I loved this dish! 5/5I'll be eating here again when I'm back in Chicago.
