This place was so cute! The decor was bright and fun with lots of little things all over the restaurant. We had a reservation on a Saturday at 12 but it wasn't too busy. They did have a DJ playing outside from 10-2 but the music wasn't obnoxiously loud. Perfect volume really. We only had drinks and they both great! The can bears even swim was strong and good and the flowers in the field was refreshing and delicious.

short synopsis: service is RANCID!! i got a bug in my drink and in return was told "they can't control nature". lengthy: giving 2 stars because i used to really like this establishment food & service wise, but after my experience tonight i will NOT be going back (and apparently i'm banned anyway). i ordered a margarita and there was a bug in it, the waitress brought another. no apology, no reaction. she just plopped another drink on the table and walked away. wouldn't have been a huge issue if she was not so rude and nonchalant. due to this, i questioned the fact that the marg was on the check. she immediately became defensive saying "well i brought out another and you drank it. actually let me just go get you a manager". the manager came out nice initially, asked the situation and i explained. he immediately became abrasive stating that he can't control nature and the fact that there was a bug in my drink. at this point, he starts going back & forth with me in the restaurant in front of other patrons! i became frustrated and told him it wouldnt be an issue if he and she weren't being smart alecs at which point he said he's not gonna do the "yelling" (which HE started with a customer) and would compensate the drink and be done with it. i honestly believe he only did this because the convo was getting loud and we're talking about A BUG IN FOOD IN FRONT OF OTHER CUSTOMERS, so he was trying to keep it quiet. the waitress returned afterward and literally dropped the check in front of me and walked off. i had to take a breather outside while my friends handled the bill which the waitress returned to take payment and say we weren't allowed to return AS IF I WAS COMING BACK AND THEY SERVE BUGS UNAPOLOGETICALLY!!!!!!! possibly the craziest experience i've had with restaurant staff. i used to work in restaurants so i understand things happen; simultaneously they were extremely rude and nonchalant. people should NOT treat other people in the way they did (which i also told the manager). these two people should not be left to run a restaurant they will run it to the ground with poor service.

Decent happy hour with $2 off cocktails Great service at the bar. The nachos looked loaded and amazing. The duck carnitas are a must if you get tacos or rolled tacos. The atmosphere environment is Dos Gringos meets Diego Pop. It can be loud with a large party inside. Nice little cover "patio" and open doors for fresh air inside.

Other than the ambiance this place is nothing special. The service was mediocre for a Sunday brunch spot that was not packed. Never got refills on water, never got the chips & salsa we requested 2x. The French toast was pretty & yummy, everything else was bland and could be made easily in my own kitchen. The breakfast cheese crisp was toast & crunchy whice was nice but the "breakfast hash" toppings were scarce and bland. The chilaquiles were chips with eggs on top and some jalapeños. Not impressed for a downtown spot plus paying for parking sucks when your not satisfied.

I was wondering how any restaurant would be able to successfully take over the space once occupied by Sin Muerte, which was a great establishment. Hugo's does a great job at it, and boy did they change the theme. We've gone from the somber morgue theme to a very lively, bright pink cantina, and it is so fun! Love all the funky art and the colors. Food is delicious, and I appreciate that it does not cost an arm and a leg. The menu may not look very vegetarian-friendly, but they can make just about any of the menu items vegetarian upon request. The bar area with its emerald green walls is very neat too. Drinks are colorful and fun. Metered parking outside - it's downtown Phoenix and that means parking can be a pain.Fast service with a smile. I'd go back, and would 100% recommend it.

Hugo's is a delightful addition to the vibrant culinary scene of downtown Phoenix. While we visited for breakfast, I really want to come back for lunch or dinner. Nestled in the heart of the Roosevelt Row area, Hugo's offers a refreshing atmosphere that's both bright and inviting, adorned with playful touches and colorful accents that set the mood just right. For breakfast it was a no brainer! Located right next to Matt's Big Breakfast, the 6 of us knew it would be at least an and hour to get service there. Walked up to Hugo's and got seated right away. Our experience was made even better by the warm and welcoming service from our server, who struck the perfect balance of attentiveness without being overbearing. Everyone loved their dish, the atmosphere and the service! Will be back next time for lunch and a cocktail

During our visit to the Roosevelt Art Row District, we stopped at Hugo's Cantina, a great little restaurant bar. Our first visit they have happy hour from 4-7 with some great food and drink specials a well as a weekend brunch. The interior has bright, vibrant colors with a funky atmosphere and wonderful little wooden booths for seating. The drink menu features fun craft cocktails and beers. Their Cantina menu offers tacos and enchiladas, and you select the type of meats such as tomatillo chicken, duck carnitas, and guajillo braised beef the service was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious. Looks to be a fun place at night. Please support them.

New restaurant in the Roosevelt Row area by the owners of Gadzook's Enchiladas. Let's just say it's bright and sunny inside with fun touches and colorful accents. Our server was friendly and welcoming while not being pushy. The chips were perfectly salty and the guac was good. The enchiladas were just like the ones at Gadzook's, but without as many combos. I didn't personally try any of the drinks but they had some fun looking concoctions. All in all a great addition to the area.
