WOW, WOW, WOW... we celebrated friend's birthday with 6 of us and was one of the best overall meals in a long time. The restaurant (Queen Anne location) is small, but cozy with a nice ambience. Our server was lovely and attentive. We went family style that allowed us a variety of options!* Sea Wolf Sourdough: This bread was divine -- the fennel honey butter needs to be a staple at my house from here on out. I could have eaten nothing but this bread and been happy.* Burrata: always a winner, even with beets* Creste di Gallo Pasta: 2 of us proclaimed this as one of the best pastas we've ever had. The pasta was pillowy soft and the light red sauce with boar and the chili crisp was incredible -- still thinking about it* Pork Osu Bucco: We were pretty full by the time this came out, but I highly recommend - the meat fell off the bone and was full of flavor.I had to pop my head into the kitchen and give the cooks a clap - can't wait to go back.

Visited on Valentine's Day and ordered from their Wolfie Valentine prix fixe menu, which included four shared appetizers, choice of pasta, choice of main, and choice of dessert.Steak tartare - it was okay, but pretty bland and under seasoned. Kind of had to rely and the salt flakes on the cracker for seasoning. I also wish the crackers were thicker, or that there were a couple more of them.Ahi crudo - pretty good, sauces were tasty and well balanced!Delicata squash with goat cheese - this was my favorite of the appetizers. Well cooked, slightly caramelized.Burrata with beets & kumquat - beets and kumquats were sweet and sour, which complemented the creamy burrata really well.Duck pappardelle - pasta was overcooked, so it was kind of mushy. Sauce was a bit plain, but duck was nice and tender.Black trumpet tagliatelle - well cooked, and tasty! Huge portion, we ended up taking some home to save space for the main course.Scallops - sadly also overcooked, so they were too chewy. I thought the fresh blood orange slices were a bit overpowering, but enjoyed all the other components.Zabuton - well cooked, but the cut was fattier than we expected. The rutabaga puree was a unpleasantly bitter.Almond frangipane torte - by far our favorite course! Delicious mix of flavors and textures. Only regret was ordering soebetto instead of two tortes.Service - overall very attentive, friendly service. The check in was not quite ideal, since there's no space inside to wait for your reservation, so we had to wait outside in the cold. Ambiance - cozy and romantic.

Stopped into HTCAW for the first time in several years:1. Service was lackluster. We sat at the bar and usually expect a certain level of interaction with a bartender. Drinks were left empty, plates weren't replaced between courses. Etcetera. The included 20% service fee seems to eliminate incentive to provide even a minimal fine dining service experience. The bartender was just "there" and really didn't engage us, didn't ask us how the food was. 2. When we asked what cut the bistecca was, the bartender nor two other servers could identify it. Eventually we were told it was a "flank, or sirloin, or Queen Anne cut. You can look it up." This was a hilarious interaction considering the bistecca is $63 dollars. Also, where do you get off charging $63 for a flank or sirloin?3. Agnolotti, spaghetti, burrata, and greens were overall bland. All the dishes tasted as if they weren't seasoned. We did enjoy the Osso Bucco and it was the only dish that felt worth it's menu price 4. Drinks were fine, the wine was good and my martini was well made.

This place is very ok. We ordered the kale salad, steak tartare, tonnarelli carbonara, and gnocchi. All of it was fine but nothing spectacular. We also had several drinks; the smoke swindler was our favorite. The actual restaurant is cute, and the service was good. I just expected more considering the reviews.

I visited How to Cook a Wolf during restaurant week. I have heard a lot about this spot so I definitely had high expectations. The service was kind of off and on. While we were waiting to be seated we were served complimentary sparkling wine and the hostess was definitely sweet. I do feel like our actually server didn't stand out. We waited a long time even after ordering to be given water, and we were seated outdoors and needed to flag someone down to replace the gas tank in our heater. I was really looking forward to trying the wild boar bolognese, but we were informed by our server that they had run out, I wish we were offered some kind of alternative or at least a recommendation for a different dish! Regardless we had a really good time, the food was very tasty and I would come back again! The restaurant week menu was definitely a good way to try out some of the menu items.

Dishes were all super yummy!! Highly recommend the pork chops (weren't dry at all), ravioli, and the squid ink pasta. My one complaint was we got there early when it was still fairly empty but food took a long while (30-40 min). Sitting outside was so blissful, they have a good outdoor deck. I'd come back again!

We took a risk and came without reservations and were happy to be seated at the bar. I actually love sitting at a bar. You get to watch the kitchen and the bartenders making drinks. Since this is a small setup, you get to see a lot. Food was phenomenal. Drinks were awesome too. As a vegetarian, I'm not usually expecting to be blown away. But this risotto was amazing. I'm still thinking about it. Service was great. Attentive, friendly, and just made us feel welcome.

I'm gonna start off by saying if you go to a restaurant with three dollar signs $$$ listed on Yelp, if you can't knock off a Star for it being more expensive than other restaurants. You can preview the menu and prices before you eat there (just keep that in mind for everyone going through and reading reviews)That being said, we did go here for a special occasion, and would likely not eat here regularly because it's more pricey, but definitely still worth the visit. When we first moved here, we were recommended this restaurant. I'm only sorry to say that I wish we tried this place sooner!I made reservations ahead of time, online. We came on a Thursday evening in the summer and it was very popular. I saw quite a few groups come up to ask for a table who did not have a reservation and could not be seated. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, however, I didn't really look inside because we sat outside on their patio. The patio does have a covered roof and the tables that are not under the roof have umbrellas. It's definitely a cute little spot in Queen Anne, great for a special occasion or a nice date night.Because I noted in my reservation that we were coming for a celebration, our server brought us celebratory glasses of champagne-like bubbly - I loved that! They recommend ordering a few different things. Our server was friendly and helpful with the menu.We first started with wine by ordering the seasonal positive contact wine flight. Apparently these wines are all skin contact wines (look it up if you're unfamiliar) which I've never had. I'm glad I had the opportunity to try them however, I absolutely hated these wines -- and I don't mean they were okay tasting I mean I did not finish drinking them after tasting. My husband, however, I thought that they were okay -- I think it's a preference thing, and my preference is not skin contact wine! We started off with a baby lettuce salad. When I first read the ingredients of the salad, I was not interested in ordering it, but my husband insisted. I was pleasantly surprised by how well all of the flavors went together. We ordered the polenta fritters, after seeing them go to another table. I don't even like polenta, but I loved these, probably because they were super crispy on the outside, similar to a hush puppy consistency. The sourdough from Sea Wolf Bakery was extra toasty which I like, and came with two dips - my husband ate the fennel-honey butter and I enjoyed the balsamic garlic, so soft it became spreadable! The ravioli most certainly did have depth! Both spicy but sweet from the sultanas and had a base of ricotta to balance it out.I forgot to take a picture of the Creste di Gallo (Wild Boar Bolognese) because we ate it so quickly - never had wild boar but we loved the flavor combos with the pasta itself. We chose not to order dessert because we had other plans so I cannot speak to that.I would definitely recommend coming here for a nice evening with a date or for a get-together - just be sure to make a reservation!

Came here for a special occasion. The interior has a warm, cozy submarine vibe with dim lighting. The rounded wooden ceilings also contribute to the comfort of the restaurant. The food itself is good quality. The highlight of the meal was the bread with a fat dollop of fresh mozzarella + strawberry salad. However the main dishes were missing something. The ravioli was lacking some depth -- usually the filling should have multiple dimensions to the flavor, but this one seemed pretty straightforward. The steak was well cooked (or should I say medium cooked), but also lacked flavor. Overall a good experience but not amazing.

A great dinner spot in Queen Anne! The atmosphere was very nice, with both indoor and outdoor seating. I went for Seattle Restaurant Week, and I think it was a great meal. The SRW deal was a 3 course meal for 65$, which I found very worth. Service was great too -- they gave us a small glass of sparkling wine while we were waiting for our table to get set up. The food is surprisingly filling as well, especially the entrees. But overall, I loved the appetizers the best. We got ahí crudo and venison tartare, and both were so delicious and refreshing. The entrees were both solid options (pork oso bucco, black cod) but didn't stand out. Same with the two desserts we got (chocolate hazelnut cake, pumpkin panna cotta). Definitely a cute date spot!
