Gave it another try today. Definitely improved. The place looked very clean and the guy working here was walking around wiping things down and organizing stuff. Looks like they put a lot of effort into cleaning this place up. Enjoyed my lunch.

Tried this for the first time the other night. $18.50 for all, you can eat bowls of noodles and meat. The meat selection is pretty small, but it was good and plenty of people eating there so you don't have to worry that the food is old. The only issue I really had was the labeling for their sauce bottles. They really need to label it better so people don't get confused and consume something they might be allergic to. It's also pretty small so eating at exactly noon or 6 PM would probably be a bad idea. I am likely to return.

In comparison to the other "hot iron" locations I have been the selection was larger, quality was better, and service was on point. Watching staff fully clean tables and surrounding areas on turnover was a positive as well.

4.5 stars (rounded up to 5)When it comes to Mongolian grills, they are either great or terrible. Hot Iron in Monroe falls under the "great" category. They have all the typical things you'd expect from a Mongolian grill, but also a few things I've never seen before, like Polish sausage and bacon, both of which work surprisingly well. They also have an array of post-grilling sauces, such as a BBQ sauce, a couple curries, and even a Thai peanut sauce. It was hard to choose. My only suggestion is to avoid the shrimp as they are peel-and-eat, which doesn't work well for a Mongolian grill setting. If they were pre-peeled, it would work a lot better. The place is small, but you get a lot of options for such a small place. The service is good and very clean. Also, their "to go" policy is much more forgiving than most Mongolian grills. They are also surprisingly cheaper than most places in this category. The host and the chef were both very kind and welcoming. I'll certainly be coming back.

Food was good and I wish I could give it more stars. But I was seriously grossed out by the dust all over the light fixtures. Like...has no one ever had a cleaning checklist in this joint? All I see when I see that is a place that doesn't care. I used the bathroom and walked by the kitchen and it looked pretty grungey as well. Also, the price for lunch on a Saturday was like 17 bucks? For real? Thanks, but I'll just go get any other generic Ameri-Chinese place for half the cost.

Decided to come by for lunch after a drizzly hike and it was perfect. Not too busy and we were able to start assembling our bowls right away. The counters were spotless and all of the food looked really fresh - even the meat cuts were kept frozen so they weren't limp or piled up on top of each other. The staff were friendly and attentive, and being able to watch them cook your food on the grill is always nice. Great spot together your fill after working up a solid appetite in the mountains!

I definitely did not leave here hungry. You get to choose between one trip through and taking home the leftovers or all you can eat and not take home. Either option costs the same. We did the one time through and had plenty to take home. The complimentary rice and egg flower soup are nice. I was impressed with all the options of meat for lunch. They had all the usual options, plus bacon and sausage. The bar was very clean and organized.

UPDATE: I went to try this again after a few years of avoiding it and I don't know if they got new owners or something but the place was SO MUCH CLEANER than before. The counters were all wiped and cleaned, the rat traps were gone, the grease on the floor had be scraped off. There's no longer dirty rags and paper towels everywhere. The food wasn't spilling over into the bins next to it and was all very fresh. While I was there, several staff were cleaning and restocking. The staff was also so attentive and friendly, which wasn't always the case in the past. The food was great and I'm so happy to say thus restaurant has definitely turned it around! Kudos to whoever took over!

Seriously the best food I've ever had...just a super chill and nice establishment with kind service and epic food. Every thing is fresh and cooked to perfection by the friendly chef behind the grill. I love the idea of choosing each individual ingredient for your meal and the sauce bar has so much variety that you really have flavor for everyone!...this might be my love for Asian food speaking, but I genuinely think this place has something for everyone and there's no doubt that it will be well crafted and delicious!! Thanks Hot Iron for your hard work and amazing food!

Best restaurant in Monroe, amazing price for all you can eat restaurant. Food was amazing, the people that worked there were polite and friendly. I hardly leave reviews on anything but when I saw bad reviews on this restaurant I couldn't help but leave a positive one. I can't believe how unbelievable rude and petty people are its disgusting. I know I'll be coming back again and again. $18 for all the good quality food you feel like stuffing your stomach with, it's better than fast food prices and the food is better than most higher priced restaurants. This is the place to go.
