Repeat after me: HIDDEN GEM!! Based on the amount of reviews, this is the time to try it. Try it before the word really gets out and then you can't get in because baybayyyyy!!!This spot is located on the corner with a very simple sign. The parking lot isn't huge, but fully accommodates the amount of tables inside for patrons. They have a great health score and the restaurant is clean and tidy. Everything is nice and neat. It gives all the nostalgia of eating at your aunty house, but without the nosey aunty. All the staff are wonderful. Very efficient and quick with the orders. I believe we met the owner/possible head chef on my visit today and he is everything!! Very personable and pleasant, however un-big-ing my back is going to be tough with hot fish house around. This is the best fried catfish po boy I've had in years. The bread was soft and hearty, the remoulade sauce is perfect, catfish fried to crispy perfection and the toast on that bun is dangerous. The po boy came with crinkle cut fries, which were also hitting the right spot and must have been fried to order. You can tell they weren't sitting under a light waiting to be served. We also ordered the mac and cheese, fried okra, catfish plate and two banana puddings with soda in the side. (Swing for the fences when it's black owned)The entire meal from start to finish was amazing. The banana pudding should be illegal. The mac and cheese is suitable for bringing to a black family gathering with no permission and not being cursed out. They will be asking "who made this," but in a good way. It's that good. The fried okra wasn't my favorite. I felt it lacked a little something. Spice or something? It was very simple though and I really can't complain. Highly suggest coming here and filling your belly up with a little piece of home. 10/10 recommend.

Drove to Lakewood, WA to check out this Fish House, although it could be better described as a Soul Food joint. I had the Seafood platter and my wife had a Turkey Leg stuffed with Mac and Cheese. I also got a frozen Pina Colada and that drink was strong. Actually was scared to finish it since we had to drive back to West Seattle. Met the owner who was super friendly and very personable. The food was so good and the service was on point. We got a couple banana puddings to go and when I say this was some of the best banana puddings I ever ate I am not exaggerating. Please go give this spot a try. I will be going back sooner than later!!!Don

Took me a straight minute to come here. Finally--I bit tha' bullet a slid on thru. This place....An enigma. As I sit here in my car eating on possibly the best fried fish I have tasted since I moved from my home-- Flint/Detroit 16 years ago...Fish House Cafe (down over by Ezell's on 19th) ain't got NOTHIIINNGG-GA on this catfish here that I'm eatin'. Make no mistake. I like Fish House but they gotta pull back on that sodium and I mean A LOT. Though not all tha' time but 97.99999%) they be spranklin' sodium like they 'on somethin' but.....Y'all. This here some goooooood 'kittyfish'!!!! Fried nice and golden. I mean, DElicious and the seasoning--my goodness. And! Annnnnd!-- It's fried in CORNMEAL.!!!!I think they probably could've pulled back juuuussst a smidge on the salt but this here--baaaaby. Yes! Them sides tho'. In tha' temper of 'Florida Evan's of Good Times'....Dammm...Dammm...DAMMMNN!!!!!A song played and is on repeat in my head (and only 'old heads' is go know this song)"Where did we go wrong" by (Jeffrey Osborne) L.T.D(But Immo tweek them lyrics a tad bit)"Where did we go wroooo-onnggg...oooonnngggg with siiiiiddddeeessss--and maybe we should fix iiiittt"Yes. Yes. Jeffrey...I mean yesss baby...!!!! FIX IT!!!!!!!It's not a maybe--it's uh damn 101% MUST!!!!! The 11th Commandment: "Thou Shall FIX THAT MESS"!!!!! How do you have such 'cornmeal fried perfection' and you serving alongside that type of excellence:* NASTY, OILY, (from tha' bag) CHOPPED FROZEN aaaannnnnd TASTELESS collard greens.Look here. Frozen collard greens are NOT hard to salvage. All you need is a couple of good strong, meaty ham hocks (or smoked legs) some onion, garlic, chicken broth and some seasoning salt. You can't OVERCOOK frozen (especially 'chopped') greens people. When they're frozen it does something to the structure/composition of the leaves. They break down and get 'mushy', slimy even. * SO-CALLED 'SWEET YAMS'.....Definitely CANNED & Barely NO SUGAR or CORRECT seasonings. Such as cinnamon, vanilla...butter. Tha' stuff that makes this troubled life good. I KNOW a 'canned yam' when I SEE it let alone TASTE IT and those are definitely canned yams. Dammit!!! Why did y'all do that? An...an PLEASE--DONT EEEEVVVVEN try and tell me they are fresh. Cuz then you gotta bigger problem as to how you make fresh yams...taste like canned. * DRY Mac and Cheese (made with what seemed to be only--2 Tablespoon shredded cheese) and a sad attempt to seasoned them. And I do damn diddly mean...DRY.My guy in tha' back who I assumed was tha' owner--LOOK like he came from tha' south. If you reading this. Somebody reading to you. Look here and listen to me good brotha'. If yo' 'GRANDMOMMA OR yo' MOMMA' ' tasted this mess--they would slap tha' Northwest Pacific Taste--outta yo' damn mouth.Cuz that's exactly what all three of them sides taste like. Some unseasoned, Northwest Pacific--so-called 'soul-food....HOT MESS--that ain't no where EVEN CLOSE to soul-food sides.Even UNCLE THURMS (and I hear he's supposed to be coming back)---sides tasted better than this here tragedy. It's like rollin' in a 2024 Caddy wit plastic hub caps. Used even. The only worth of tha' sides--was the strong plastic containers that I recycle. That's it.Why do people compromise goodness. Look.If you can't do GREENS cause you gotta pick em' (or whatever), you can't cook MAC N CHEESE (cuz you just CAINT) or you can't afford REAL YAMS--then look here--either DON'T cook em' at all or....OR--find somebody who got a good seasoning tongue to season them things up right. And of course charge accordingly. Trust me the price point would be overlooked for sheer goodness.Because right now they suck wit a: capital S, capital Ucapital Ccapital K.Travesty. But that fish y'all... my OH...MY...GOODNESS!!!!! Yes Sir. Yes Ma'am. I'd go back for that fuh SHO'!!!!!4 stars for tha' Fish and so as to not jack tha' ratings up--all tha' trashy sides go under 1 trashy star.

Service: Friendly and inviting staff! That's the one of things that stood out to me, greetings when I came in through the door, and goodbyes as I left. Ambiance: I absolutely love the vibe inside! Checkered floors and red metal tables really brings you to a different feel once you step indoors.Food: This is what I've been waiting for. I used to live in Lakewood and first saw this business pop up and have meaning to for a while now. I am so glad I did, I panic ordered but it was well worth it lol! That turkey leg is so succulent and tender, it's just right off the bones. Not going to lie I slurped the cornbread up with that turkey juice. The fried catfish... Oh my god, the breading, that crunch! The seasoning! It still retained all that good funk from that catfish but just added to the complexity. Serve it with the house hot sauce and tartar sauce and you'll be in heaven. My stomach is bulging and I didn't even begin to make a dent in my meal. Come check them out, they are open!!

I can't say enough good things about this business. From the food to the people, everything was beyond a five star. We made the drive from Bellingham (took us 6 hours round trip) and we're already planning to make it a monthly outing. We were met with the best hospitality, devoured the best food, and left with smiles on our faces. My 3 year old can't stop talking about the turkey leg and collard greens. It really was THAT good.As my husband put it "soul food with a soulful experience." Our hearts and our bellies are FULL.Anyone from out of town, make the drive. It's worth it!To the staff: we'll see you again soon.
