Attended a wedding on Wednesday night and Zach's Event Catering was fantastic! Sam the bartender was very nice, friendly and personable. I'm not a drinker but he had these pretty soft jelly beans like candies for me to try which were very nice! Duane managed the sushi bar with fresh nigiri with fresh ahi, salmon, shrimp, etc He also made huge California hand rolls! I loved the delicious appetizers: huge stuffed mushrooms, nice big round crab cakes and stuffed shrimp.

Zach's Event Catering is exactly who you should hire for your next event!!! He was so easy to work with and made the process seamless! Zach helped create a menu that fit both our traditional Hawaiian theme and budget. Thanks to Zach (and his team) I looked like a superstar when asked to plan the company Christmas party. I'm still receiving compliments about the event and great food! I will definitely be recommending Zach's Catering to my friends and will use them again in the future!Mahalo!Terri

5 stars for possibly the best take-out prime rib I've ever had! Read below for a breakdown of the review by food/drink, service and ambiance.Food: Prime Rib - At only $15, this is most definitely worth it! Plate comes with a huge slab of prime rib on top of your choice of rice or garlic mashed potatoes (I went with the mashed) and a side of corn. The outer edge of seasoning on the prime rib was crispy and savory. The cook on the meat was a beautiful red medium rare, very juicy but not mooing. The garlic mashed was well-seasoned and a little chunkier, which I love. And I believe the corn had butter in it so of course that was amazing. The au jus had a great flavor to it and the cream horse radish was perfectly balanced - enough spice to make the nose run just a little, with the soothing effect of the sour cream to follow.Service: The owner Zach was very friendly. I went in with a friend of mine who knows him and who had placed our order in advance (do that or you might not get any). Our plates were pretty much ready when we arrived; we just needed to select our starch. As my friend and Zach were talking, you could tell he was a nice, down to earth kind of guy.Ambiance: It's a pretty small place that is clearly intended to be a grab-n-go destination. It's so small that it can be easy to miss. When you enter 1100 Alakea through the double glass doors (next to T-Mobile) and you see the escalators, Howard's is on the left. Look for the white board with today's menu.Final words: Especially during this difficult time when the world is dealing with COVID-19, it's so important to support our small local businesses. Luckily, the food and service here created such a great experience that it makes it very easy to support and promote this business. I recommend!Shameless plug: Like my reviews? Zach's food was fantastic. Everyone enjoyed it and it made our celebration special.Appetizers:-tako was impressively tender and the sauce had just the perfect amount of acid--great start-The best part about the bao buns w/seared duck breast was the spicy hoisin sauce. Soup:-everyone loved the lobster bisque and asked for more, to which he gave us all little bowls of it . Nice to have little chunks of lobster in it.Salad:-pesto vinaigrette in the salad was delicious. I liked that the feta was crumbled small--easier to get some in every bite.Seafood:-risotto was perfectly cooked-tender, but still some texture to it. Well seasoned. Nice sized meaty shrimp. Tad bit salty, but works with the risotto together. Everyone loved the ali'i mushrooms and I could taste the truffle which made it heavenly.Beef:-NY steak was just a little overcooked. It was medium well (could've just been mine), but still delicious. Great presentation:Dessert:-that was the best panna cotta I've ever tasted. It was like a cross between panna cotta and creme brûlée. Also, the compote was delicious--perfect amount of sweetness. Tastes fresh.--communication was a breeze and that's a big deal for most people. Zach got back to emails right away and answered his phone. Very much appreciated.--His price per person is very reasonable. Other private chefs are ridiculous. His prices make an experience like this accessible for the non-elite, and we really appreciate that.Definitely will be calling Zach again for future occasions!

We were lucky enough to have Zach do our wedding catering. He was happy to work with us to have food options that we liked that also fit our budget. He specially crafted the menu according to our tastes, no pre-determined options or mandatory items or quantities. Though providing wedding services can be stressful, Zach easily handled our requests and provided excellent service before and during the big day.Our menu included: Spicy Tuna Handrolls: Chopped fresh local tuna with special spicy sauce, crispy nori, and koshikari short-grain rice. Handmade to order.Stuffed mushrooms: Bacon brie stuffed mushrooms, drizzled with balsamic reductionFish tacos: Grilled mahimahi on corn tortillas, topped with pico de gallo, pickled onions, and lemon cabbageWinter greens: Arugula/radish/escarole green mixed salad dressed with a lemon-dijon vinaigrettePrime rib: Rosemary, garlic, salt and pepper encrusted sterling silver ribeye served with a creamy horseradish and au jus.The food was upscale yet unpretentious, a hit with all our guests. The flavors were fresh and balanced, and the food was satisfying but not too heavy. Overall, the meal was special and unique. If you want delicious, personalized, professional catering you can't do better than Zach's Event Catering!

I used Zach for a party I was throwing and throughout the whole process he was very professional and friendly. I got to create my own menu with him and the day of, he definitely delivered. The quality of the food was worth it and all my guests enjoyed him and his food alike. He had also catered a company party for one of my friends for about 200 people and I heard nothing but good things from her. I had the privilege of going to that party and all the food was on point. Even the employees passing out the food were really friendly. I would recommend Zach for any kind of party that you need catered whether small or large if you want friendly service and good food!

First off I'm not one to really write reviews but for this I HIGHLY recommend. We had the prime rib, roasted chicken and whole steamed fish. Everything was FULL OF FLAVOR and cooked perfectly. And they didn't skimp out on serving size. I could also overhear others giving praise to the food quality. So I think it's safe to say that everyone enjoyed their meal. Zach himself and his team were also very pleasant and easy to work with. And patient. My cousin had hired them for their backyard wedding and my number was given to them as an alternate contact. Unfortunately when Zach called, I had no answers for him because I wasn't sure what the plans were but with that being said, he had the patience of a saint and worked patiently with me as I ran around like a chicken without a head trying to find everything he needed. Definitely would hire him if I need an event caterer!

We hired Zach to cater our small house party (19 guests) this past November and we were extremely happy with his food and service! First of all the food...Appetizers:Mini ahi cakes with sesame ginger mustard sauceOyster shooters with quail egg and ikuraSushi bar:Ahi & salmon nigiri, Spicy ahi handrolls (rolled to order)Caterpillar rollsSalad & Starch:Panzanella saladPesto pasta with blistered cherry tomatoesEntrees:Garlic shrimp over truffle risotto and mushroomsPrime rib with au jus and creamy horseradish Desserts:Tahitian vanilla panna cottaAssorted macaronsEverything was very delicious! Our guests were so happy and stuffed. We were especially happy to have the leftovers for the next couple days, haha.Service:Zach was very responsive and helpful in planning our menu. He arrived on time and worked very clean in our kitchen. He did a great job helping us utilize the space in our kitchen and dining room; turning our kitchen island into a sushi bar and found the perfect spot for a prime rib carving station. Zach was also very professional, friendly and easy to work with.We would certainly hire Zach again and would highly recommend him to anyone who's looking for a great chef to cater their next event!
