Excellent swim instructors. My granddaughter was afraid to swim at the deep end. Vangie and Erin helped her overcome her fears. They are incredibly patient. My granddaughter loves her swim sessions.

I prefer this pool to the ymca. Although it is smaller the staff and the coaches care about little swimmers and their progress. After only a few months my little girl can swim! Just a short distance , but is can swim. I have seen my little girl go from just a bit timid to but her face in the water and swim to jumping in and swimming to her coach. It's a smaller older facility and it can be difficult to get in touch with the staff to get lessons. Once you are in, to get yourself or your little one swim lessons I hope you have the same amazing experiences we have had at the YWCA.

This past summer my 9 yr old attended the day camp. I can't remember exactly how many weeks he attended because you can sign up for as many or as little weeks as possible. Which my opinion is great because sometimes you don't need camp for the entire summer, just a few weeks. Anyways, the hours were great because you can drop them off as early as 7:30am & pick up as late as 5:30pm. Yes, it is a little pricier than Kama'aina Kids but it is so worth it! The entire week is planned out ahead of time & they email the schedule the weekend prior. They have certain times for pretty much everything which is great for kids. I never had to worry about my son being bored or just sitting there. They had outside play time where they would get to run around & be active. But they also had time for crafts, swimming, & indoor games as well. Let me just say, the crafts are just adorable! It seemed like almost everyday my son came home with a new craft/artwork. & he would come home so proud of his project! They had a friendship hike every Wednesday & a field trip every Thursday if I'm not mistaken. & every week there was a new theme. 1 week was dedicated to Super Heroes & my son made a snow globe with his favorite super hero figurine in it. I think the cherry on top of all of this are the amazing leaders they have. Bob (Robert) was my sons leader but I'm not sure if he runs that particular department or not. But Bob is great with the kids! He's patient, he's involved, & he's actually the person that finds all the crafts to do. But every time I've gone to pick my son up, Bob is playing with the kids. He's not on the phone, sitting there texting or on social media. My son would come home & tell me about how he beat Bob at a certain game or something. As a parent, it makes me feel good knowing that the adult in charge of my child for almost the entire day is actually looking after him & actually paying attention to him. But it's not just Bob that's great. All the leaders are great! They actually participate with the kids & they actually focus on keeping them stimulated. I can't express how grateful I am to all of them! This past fall break my son spent his week again at the YWCA with Bob & he loved it. He's asked if he can spend every break there because it's just that great for him. If you can afford the day camp, I definitely suggest you try it out! It's not too crowded where your child is lost in the sea. But they have so many leaders so your child ends up with 1 on 1 interaction.I definitely will be recommending them to all of my friends!

I highly recommend the YWCA Kokokahi for your next event! Yaneth Leialoha was an absolute joy to work with and so helpful in the planning process. She was very responsive via email and phone call, and she answered all our questions with thoughtful responses. Yaneth treated us like family and went above and beyond to support our every desire for our special day. Mahalo to Auntie Yaneth and the YWCA Kokokahi!

The stars are only for one instructor that was amazing with our kid and the only good thing about this run down place. The other instructors have been terrible! They don't pay attention to the kids, causing my child to slip underwater. I jumped up and yelled to get the instructor's attention. She pulled my scared child up, laughing and gave me a "oops" face. Instructors need to greet kids when they show up, especially the first class. I was standing there forever the first day like where do we go, is there a sign in sheet? Who's in charge? There needs to be swim uniforms for instructors to help identify them and to prevent them from wearing VERY revealing swimsuits! I don't want to see your butt!!!!Parents! Pay attention to your kids to make sure they are being respectful and paying attention to the instructors. Many kids in the group class are rude, splashing/bullying other kids, while their parents are having picnics not watching. Also pay attention to make sure the instructors are doing their job!I would not ever recommend this place!

I just celebrated my destination wedding in Oahu. Since I was unable to visit before the wedding, I had to do everything online - a daunting task. But everything worked out wonderfully. Not wanting a hotel reception and hoping to just have fun in a beautiful location, I held my wedding reception in Atherton Hall at the YWCA Camp Kokokahi. Everything was amazing!! The site is right off of Kaneohe Bay providing a beautiful backdrop of water, lights and boats, there is a large grassy area behind the hall for pictures, volleyball, etc, and the staff were incredible. They really went out of their way to accommodate our group; even letting us borrow a volleyball net and ball for the reception! Communication was easy (Casey was very attentive), check in and out were a breeze and we were able to choose our own caterer, bartender, and other vendors. It was exactly what I was looking for. We had a party with 60 people so we rented both the hall and attached kitchen. We had enough space for tables, people, iPod DJ, a photo booth and bar setup. I would probably not recommend it for groups larger than 75 people or so if you want room for things like a dance floor but it was perfect for our needs. And the hall is so pretty that we really didn't need to do much decorating. With a few paper lanterns and some table decoration, everything was simple and beautiful. I would definitely recommend hosting an event at Atherton Hall.THANK YOU to everyone from the YWCA that helped make our day so special! NOTE - the building is not air conditioned so it does get a little warm, but we all had a great time.
