We had an amazing lunch at Yakiniku Sizzle! Ordered the Wagyu Wafuu Hamburg, and it was so soft--paired with shiso leaf, ponzu sauce, and daikon oroshi, it totally reminded me of Japanese-style Hamburg steak. The lunch set menu comes with rice and soup, super reasonable, and there were so many choices! Our friend got the Yakiniku Teishoku, which came with homemade dipping sauces--all three were so good! The owner-chef and his wife are from Japan, and they were so friendly and welcoming! Definitely gives an authentic vibe. Can't wait to come back and try the liver sashimi! At night, this place turns into a full yakiniku spot with Miyazaki Wagyu and more. Check it out!

I came with my partner after a long days' hike and walk around the area. I am a HUGE fan of japanese BBQ and love gyu kaku, as well as have been to japan many times and order japanese bbq there as well as in the US frequently (maybe once every 2-3 weeks), so my standards are elevated. Visiting folks seem to like this place so I had high hopes. When I came in, the waitress seemed pretty busy as the only person, but she was attentive. There was a fly on my seat and she promptly removed it, as well as removed a dirty plate and gave us a clean one with us asking. I was impressed! The interior is similar to japanese taverns that I see in Tokyo. Pretty consistent with what I usually see, even the menu font was similar.I ordered a wagyu sukiyaki, iberico finger rib meat, beef tongue wagyu, harami skirt wagyu, and mushroom sizzling pot. Unfortunately, the beef tongue was out of stock, so I couldn't get it, and I decided to just drop that item instead of ordering an alternative. The Mushroom pot came and the cook actually dripped oil on my phone. I was mildly irritated but I could somewhat understand, because it was a cook and not the waitress. The wagyu sukiyaki wasn't bad! I loved the egg and rice with their spicy miso sauce. Unfortunately, the meat wasn't that tender, and I almost chocked while eating it after it cooked. I was a bit surprised since it looked like fairly marbled meat. The harami skirt steak was a bit of a letdown. It was similar in taste to gyu kaku's harami, but the portion size wasn't too big. For $25, I expected it to taste a bit softer, but after cooking, 1 of the 5 pieces was hard to chew, and the rest were a bit more tender, but none of them consistent with what I thought wagyu should taste like. The iberico finger meat was pretty good. My only gripe was how much we got for how much we paid, but it was my favorite of the meats.Overall, the service of the waitress was great, but the quality of the meat was a bit of a letdown, the oil dripping on my personal items was saddening, and the price for what I got missed the mark a bit. Great for someone who doesn't eat japanese bbq very often or hasn't tried japanese BBQ.

So...I didn't quite anticipate much coming into Yakiniku Sizzle, but boy did the expectations kind of play out a ton better than I thought it did. This place screams 'Japanese' from the decor to the menu...and I liked that.I ended up ordering the Beef Tongue Stew lunch plate, which, price-wise, for almost $20 (with tax), it might have been a bit pricey. But...because it's beef Tongue, I think it's understandable why it's priced that way.It really deliverered for sure. I never had beef Tongue before, and yet having tastes it, I have to say...it wasn't that bad. Super tender and the sauce really was delicious. Might have been the best thing I ate at a Japanese restaurant by far.Would I come back there again? Absolutely. Even though the place is pretty small, it definitely is a great place to consider if you're looking for something to eat that's kind of "out there" for sure.

Yakiniku Sizzle is bringing the authentic taste of Japanese yakiniku right to Kakaako, delivering some of the best grilled meats in town! With a huge menu featuring everything from A5 Miyazaki Wagyu to shabu shabu, sukiyaki, and more, this cozy spot on Cooke Street has something for everyone. It reminds of a true mom and pop back alley yokocho izakaya. So don't expect a fancy interior, it's a cozy old school Japanese feel to the place. And the owners are soooo nice and treat you like family. Note: they have portable grills so don't expect a vent system overhead...so dress appropriately. But the quality of the meat at a reasonable price is totally worth it. Don't miss their weekday happy hour from 4-6 PM, or pop in for lunch to try their amazing specials. And rumor has it they may even offer a Japanese Kyoto-style breakfast soon! Must-try dishes? A5 Wagyu, Wagyu Tartare, Tripe Sashimi, and Washugyu Brisket!

I love this place,Been here twice and I want to go back today.I love the cozy atmosphere, the small menu, the cut of meats, the way there's no AC, the smoke wafting from your neighbor's grill, how you order a beer, and there's only Asahi....Ribeye, short rib, marinated Kalbi, kimchi (that daikon was phenomenal)Service here is 10/10, uncle is so chill; so accommodating and fun.I do not speak one lick of Japanese, but ordered with ease. All else fails, just point at the menu item and smile.Keep killing it.

Located on Cooke Street, may the parking gods be in your favor! We made a reservation online and confirmed that via Google for a future Saturday. Got an email confirmation and everything. The Saturday before the res comes along and I received a call saying that they were going to release our table if we aren't there within the next 5 minutes. So confused, I checked my email, and I had the correct date, they made a mistake and said they would move the reservation to the following week like my email stated. Sure enough, got there on the following Saturday and our res wasn't there. Needless to say, they were able to find us a table for 4 on a busy night, thank goodness!Long story short, the menu has many different options to choose from whether it be yakiniku to hot pot. Items are made to order, so they were coming out as they were being completed/prepped by the kitchen. The Wagyu Tartar Gunkan was definitely the unexpected star of the evening, serve us up a platter of that and we're good to go! All in all, the servers were very nice and accommodating while we were there. And thank you so much for being patient with our crying baby in the party. The distance between the tables were a bit tight inside the restaurant, so it was difficult to fit a stroller/baby carriage, but we made it work.

Really good yakiniku! Small place on Cooke St across the street from Book-Off. Only street parking though. We went for an early lunch so we found parking. The menu offers a lot- from humble fries to beef tartare, liver sashimi for the adventurous. The beef is premium and A5 wagyu beef--there was even a certificate of authenticity posted on the wall (complete with the nose print of the beef cattle!) The lunch set for $20 is an excellent value. We got salad, 3 banchan pickles, 3 choices of meat and refillable wakame soup and rice. We also tried the beef tartare topped with a fresh egg. Wow!! There were so many other choices if not ordering the lunch set. At first glance, one may think the portions were small but because the meat was so rich that we left full and satisfied. Definitely need to go back again to try more. Apparently there's happy hour specials too.

Stumbled upon this Japanese restaurant while waiting for a take out order at Phuket Thai, and knew I had to come here one day after reading the Yelp reviews. Parking was difficult to find, but we ultimately prevailed. I thought the restaurant would be busy because it's the weekend and many students are graduating, but there was only 1 person dining in. We were instantly seated and got down to studying the menu. We ordered a side of French fries, fried oysters, 1 yakiniku bowl, 1 wagyu bowl (1/4 lb,) and 1 steak with garlic rice bowl--everything was delicious. This was my first time having wagyu beef, and lemme just say, it was to die for! The sauce it came with was also really good, a nice gingery flavor and not too sweet. The sauce that came with the steak and garlic rice bowl was too sweet for our liking, but that was okay since we ended up using my sauce for everyone's bowl. Not gonna lie, we were a bit worried that the restaurant would be too hot, since someone mentioned in their review that they didn't have a/c, but we were met with a nice surprise of cool air during our entire dining experience. I can maybe see how it could get warmer inside in the afternoon, but it was just the perfect amount of coolness for us. Thank goodness, because it was a humid day. Highly recommend this restaurant! I'd come back in a heartbeat.

They have the best curry in town. I almost didn't want to share this with everyone cuz I don't want them to run out my CURRY it takes a long time for them to make this so it's not always there. I call them to make sure they get before I go. Nothing but meat in it. This is a drink You would not think you choose a beef curry at Yakiniku place. But I know you will thank me after the first bite. Your welcome.

I was so excited to try this authentic Japanese bbq. After trying wagyu harami, It was series of disappointment. They didn't change gas so it turned off during cooking. Not just one, both of them. Sauce was very strong. Intestine Soup was blend. Kimchi was dried. All 4of us came outside after meal talking about how bad this place was.
