BUYER BEWARE!.Bought an AP 1/5 Heather Brown piece from here last year. Painting shipped to CO fine but arrived with no certificate of authenticity, as it should have. Gallery refuses to answer their phone, customer service refuses to answer their phone - have tried contacting them probably 50 times at this point without success. Is the piece beautiful, yes. Is it genuine and worth the $$ paid... sadly I'd have to say no given their lack of response.

How cool to find this store here. I just found about Wyland's mural work on the side of Seattle's Edge water hotel with his 16 orcas. It was done in 3 days. How fun is this store. My brother and nephew would love the peanuts paintings. Would have been cool to see Wyland here at his gallery working on one of his pieces tonight.

These scumbags deserve -5 stars. Jay Bitar (appears to no longer be there as of this review 6 months later), is a snake that lied, misled, and tricked me into a transaction where there were no refunds. The store very clearly does not want customers to know what their return policy is because they do their best to keep it hidden in a few ways:1) Small, fine print on what I was told was a "delivery form" but was actually a sales contract where it said "NO REFUNDS" in 8 pt. font near where the sales rep signs the form.2) A "NO REFUNDS" sign that's displayed below the waist, inside a display case at the front counter where conceivably transactions are processed.3) I never even had a chance to see that tiny little sign because I was never brought to the front counter to complete my transaction. Instead Mr. Bitar did his best to physically keep me in that room. This former stock broker/real estate joker and now self proclaimed art critic misled me on the art being sold, the terms of the sale, and didn't even correct me when I expressed concern about carrying the art on the plane. Instead of telling me that the art wasn't even created yet and would be shipped some 6 weeks later he decided to say "No problem, we ship for free". Never once telling me that even if I wanted to bring the art with me on the plane I wouldn't be able to. Everything about this place is slimy and I was physically threatened by another employee, Desmond Kraft, for informing a customer walking in as I was walking out that the store had a "no refunds" policy. The ONLY employee that showed any sort of humanity was the GM Jean Riehl. She tried to help at first but was only able to after many months and rejected deliveries by me to get me back my money, less a 15% "restocking fee", which came out to quite a bit of money.I'm now in the process of filing a small claims court case against this company to try to recoup the rest of my money for their deceptive sales tactics. Hawaii law states that the refund policy needs to be clearly disclosed at the sales location. It's hardly clearly disclosed with a tiny sign, below the waist, that no person can be reasonably expected to see. For such a large purchase one would expect to have an honest sales person disclose such an important piece of information. That lack of disclosure has cost me a lot of time and money and headache, that six months later, still isn't over.Do yourself a favor and run away from this place.

Man. Really disappointing experience from a Wyland Gallery. Tried to come in multiple times over multiple days, always closed. I get the altered COVID hours and being closed certain days, but if the hours say you'll be open, be open. Came by roughly 1330 and there was a "be back at 1405" sign in the window. Ok, lunch break. We went and got a beer. Came back 1445, there was a "be back 1505" sign up. Ok, went and got another beer. Came back at 1620 to see a "be back at 2100" sign! I usually love Wyland and collect his art whenever I can, but won't be buying from the Waikiki gallery.

Not your typical gallery. But by all means, a gallery you want to know. This gallery has a small selection but every selection is something you would or can be reminded of. All unique photos.I recommend this store to anybody who appreciates photography.

You may not recognize the name, but if shown a picture of his artwork-I'm pretty sure you'd be able to say that you have seen Wyland's work before. For me, when I think of Wyland-I think of (a) the huge Whaling Wall that he painted on the Long Beach Convention Center. So when the opportunity came up to meet Wyland in his gallery this past Friday, I was intrigued. My bf and I arrived early and met up with some friends.Upon entering the gallery, the first thing which caught our eye was the Whaling Wall display. I had no idea that there are actually 100 Whaling Walls. We surveyed the gallery and I quickly realized that Wyland is actually an all-around artist. He not only paints, but he also sculpts, does glass work, is pretty good at photography, and composes music! During our time there, I fell in love a huge painting of a whale's fluke. Its simplicity was breathtaking. Unfortunately-its price...well, lets just say the value is more than that of my car :p LOL, I actually got scolded a bit because I asked the sales guy what the resale value is of a typical Wyland original. He was mortified and said that people don't buy art for its resale value but rather because they love the pieces.Light pupus were served as we waited for Wyland's arrival. It was funny to see his hardcore fans' reaction to meeting him. They ranged in age and there was a even husband/wife team who were here on vacation and really eager to expose Wyland's work to their kids. Such is the beauty of art-it can bring the most random crowds together on a Friday night :pWyland did a Q&A as he demonstrated his painting skills to us. I was really stunned to learn that he painted all his Wyland Whaling Walls for free to raise conservation awareness...yup, all 100! He said he thought it would take him 30 years to complete, but he finished them in 27 years. That is true dedication! His current goal is to sculpt 100 different sculptures in 100 different cities. When I asked him what was the hardest creature to paint, he replied nothing because he an visualize them all in his head. At first I thought his response was a bit cocky-but then I realized that this is probably what makes Wyland great. He doesn't just paint sea creatures from books or photos...this is his life's passion. He often goes on dives and so painting these whales, dolphins, turtles, etc. truly comes from an organic place. This was further illustrated when he referred to each Whaling Wall by what number it was...these pieces are very much like his children :)There were a few moments of sales pitches, but it is expected since this is a business at the end of the day.Overall, the staff was friendly, the gallery is a visual feast for your eyes, and there are also two lesser known artists' work found in the gallery. One of whom is Heather Brown, a local. I also really like her work :)I'm glad I attended this event. I have a greater appreciation for Wyland's artwork and his conservation efforts!

Perhaps it is a bit of a tourist trap, but it's definitely one of the better kinds of tourist traps. Where else do you run a pretty good chance of bumping into a world famous painter?I've been a huge fan of Wyland going all the way back to grade school when practically all of my school supplies were covered in his artwork. Perhaps this is the reason I enjoyed visiting his gallery so much. Either way, I found something beautiful in every space of the gallery to feast my eyes on.I walked away with a signed lithograph and had no issues with my purchase. I have no regrets about the ridiculous amount I spent on my "print" either, I'd happily go back and spend more of my money supporting this artist.

The most beautiful artwork. Wandering around Christmas day. Fell in love with the beauty of these artists visions. Was blessed to see and meet Wyland and Walfrido. Watching them create is a joy and honor. Incredible experience.

I went in to browse the art at the well known Wyland Gallery in Waikiki and met the Gallery Director Jean. What a treat to meet such a professional lady. I never left a review before but she was so friendly and very easy going and personable that when I finish building my home I am defiantly going back to see her.
