Wat get kitchen located in chronic area behind Times supermarket in waipahu. Its basically a grab and go deal. IMO the food was just okay not good or bad...The pastele stew was tasty but the pastele I thought was kind of bland. I dont normally comment on food because everybody has different preferrences. I dont eat this type of food too often but I recall pasteles tasting alot more flavorable.... portions was decent and pricing was fair...Not the best but certainly not the worst either..maybe just an off day...I would definetely buy the stew again

I love this spot!!!! I cannot tell you how happy I was to come across this spot when I moved from town. Their menu is super basic and they are good at what they do!!!!Their pateles are probably the best I've had that weren't from a truck in the side of the road on the west side. They have plates, as well as Ala cart items to take and cook at home. You absolutely do not want to miss out on Mom' empanadilla. They have three types, patele, sweet passion fruit and cheese. The crust is tender and flaky and delicious. This is a small shop and takeout is your only option so pick a spot in the area to eat before you pick up your food and enjoy a picnic with your delicious grub from Wat Get. Staff is always super friendly and the service is quick.

I just found THE best Puerto Rican food in Waipahu!! Wat Get Kitchen is it! Hole in the wall food establishment in Waipahu near the bus depot. It's small and simple, no dine in but there is a small table outside the establishment if you want to eat it fresh or sit in your vehicle. The parking lot is small. Tbh, I was a little apprehensive because I LOVE a good pastele and pastele stew and did not want to be disappointed. I figured, what the heck. I ordered 2 pastele. No choice of mild or hot but it is PERFECT, not too mild...not too hot! It was simple but soooo good! My husband had the pastele stew with gandule rice and OMGeeeeee, I was caught by surprise because it was deliciousness!! The food was fresh! You can have the pastele hot or to take home and heat up yourself. We chose hot because we wanted to eat it right away.I am super stoke I can get pastele any time now and not go very fair! It's right down the road from Elena's! If you love this type of food and was on the hunt trying to find the right one, I advise you to go and try this place. Just once. You will not regret it.

Been craving for some pasteles lately, so I went to Wat Get to satisfy that!Small shop that's take out and cash only. It's pretty straightforward with what they offer. Pastele, pastele stew, gandule rice, panadilla both savory and sweet. Bacalao salad with plantains gave the perfect level of acidity to the plate. The gandule rice underneath the pastele was too good. One ultimate plate costs about $25 if I remember correctly. There was only one lady working there when I went so a little patience will go a long way. I promise the food is worth the wait!

What a great guy running that shop!! He chit-chatted with my dad while preparing his food all by himself. You could absolutely feel the love for people as well as for his food which he proudly shares. I don't eat meat so I can't speak for the food, but my dad loves it, especially the bacalao salad. We go as often as we can get out there. It is a pick up only restaurant with lots of parking available. Please check him out!

This place was out of the city in Waipahu but worth the drive! No dine in but you can either eat outside or order to go! The fresh Pastele Stew over Gandule Rice was super yum, the fresh Panadillas (their take on Empanadas) was doughy but a good doughy filled with their Pastele stew, it was divine! Of course that's us, you decide! Now, the Pastele's ... those were fresh, tasty and OMG! Everything was Fresh OMG yummy even had a Baklava Salad! Get there when they open, beat the rush cause they sell out fast, if you miss it, no worries Bianca will make you a batch just come back in an hour or call your order in!Ask for Cody or Bianca! Hey you can even mention to Bianca that Robertta from San Francisco sent you! Please leave them a well deserved tip!

Best to call in your order, it's like a one man service there but it's worth the wait time. The plates are worth it, I always get the Hapa Plate, which includes one Pastele, Gandale Rice, and my favorite, the Bacalau salad with the slice of boiled Green Banana, I highly recommend any of their plates. Bring Cash, no cards. Very nice man, when I was trying to look for a nickle, to complete my sale, he told me it was alright, he got it. But I found it and just dropped it in the tip jar, now that's service with the local kine Aloha. It's always my "go to place" for Pastele , you gotta try the Bacalau Salad, I'm addicted to it.

Wat Get Kitchen serves their customers authentic food from Puerto Rico. The flavors of each item have their own identities, which gives your flavor pallet something to look for. The baccalao: fresh and crisp lettuce leaves topped with a tart (vinegarette like) dressing. Pastele: a lightly seasoned pork stew filled in a plantain masa steamed in a husk until soft. Gandule Rice: rice cooked with beans and pork gives a neutral and very light flavor.Bianca was very welcoming and friendly. She recommended I try their cheese panadillas, and experiencing how good the pasteles are, I'm coming back to try anything she recommends.Bright color scheme yet with a dark interior as you enter to the order window. It overlooks the entire kitchen where they create the awesome food. PaymentCash onlyParkingPrivate lot with 2 reserved stalls for wat get

My whole family loves the pasteles from Wat Get. The pastele is a good sized portion for $6. Sooo flavorful. The first time I tried one I was a little disappointed in how the pork was minced, as we had only ever had pasteles with chunks of pork HOWEVER-I grew to actually prefer the smaller bits, realizing you get as much meat flavor as masa with each forkful. I also appreciate the single pepper at the heart of the pastele, giving you an option of heat to adjust to your liking. The masa is neither too oily nor too dry. It's just perfection. Which is why you have to get on down to Wat Get and get your fill before the rail forces them to shut down forever. Booo.As for location, it's in an old building behind Times in Waipahu which has been there forever. Not a dine-in, just a pickup counter. Also cash payments only.
