2 years later and I'm still a fan of Wallflour Bake Shop! This time, we got: - Lilikoi sticky bun, still as good as last time! I love lilikoi anything and this was no exception. This is fairly rich so a great item to share. - Curry pastry, I was expecting more of a curry powder taste but this reminded me of chicken tikka masala flavor but with veggies on top. So good! (we got this one two weeks in a row)- Black sesame chocolate croissant - pretty strong black sesame flavor but the nuttiness paired well with the chocolate. I enjoyed!- Bread (I think the flavor was sundried tomato and smoked gouda) - a unique combo and tasty. Tip: if you are only getting bread (and not pastries), there is a separate (shorter) line for just bread orders at the Kakaako farmers market.

Whenever I go to the Kaka'ako Farmer's Market, Wallflour Bake Shop is the first place I check out. Although it gets really packed, I haven't had too much of an issue finding free parking around the area. Their line gets pretty long, and some things do sell out if you're not early enough. They have a wide selection of savory and sweet pastries, with some seasonal changes to the menu. I love that they lay out each item so you can take a look before ordering - they do have an instagram you can check out as well for their menu. Everything that I've tried from them has been a hit, so I'm going to keep coming back!

Looking for a light breakfast in Honolulu, Hawaii, I scrolled tthrough my Yelp app and found:Wallflour Bake Shop...Somewhere I haven't been!Doing some reading, I learned that they're open on Saturday mornings at the Kaka'ako Farmer's Market. They also do some pop-ups at 'ili'ili Cash & Carry. Just order online!I luckily got a metered street space next to the booth! There was a line (in the sun), so be prepared when you come. The left line is for bread only - it's quicker. The long line (with efficient service) is for pastries and bread. I got a loaf of sourdough and a croissant and a Black Sesame pastry.Everything was of high quality. The croissant had layers of flakiness! The Black Sesame had a generous portion of creative yummy filling. The sourdough bread was solid and satisfying! It was a fabulous breakfast!

The Wallflour Bake Shop can be found at local farmers market, and based on their IG, we wanted to check them and try some of their popular pastries. We had an assortment box, including:+Mushroom Danish +a Stuffed Pepper Flat+Apple CinnamonEven though we came early in the morning, the pastries were cold; not sure if these were made the morning of or the day before, but that was a bit of a letdown. The Mushroom Danish had a large sliced oyster mushroom on top, but would love it if there were more embedded into the pastry. The Stuffed Pepper Flat was okay, and not as spicy as the description stated with the ground beef. The Apple Cinnamon was okay, as the cream in between was a bit too much.Staff were friendly, and I liked how they had each pastries laid out so you know what type of pastry you're getting/ordering.+cold pastries+located at farmers markets

The vanilla burnt basque cheesecake is so fluffy and rich, without being heavy. It reminds me of a Japanese cheesecake and Chinese egg tart filling combined. Really enjoyed the high quality chocolate and creamy mousse with thin crunchy layer on the bottom of the chocolate dome. The locally sourced ingredients make these pastries extra special. Also tried the sun dried tomato/smoked Gouda sourdough. It's a very rustic and hearty bread with a crusty and well baked exterior. The chocolate babka loaf is an excellent dessert bread with whole hazelnuts and ample chocolate swirl throughout. The service is pretty fast, they have a line only to purchase bread and another to buy both pastry and bread. Worth the wait, go early for the best selection.

I saw them on Instagram and was really excited to try their treats! I saw this chocolate dome like dessert and decided to get it - it was super smooth and silky both to cut through and to taste! I'm hoping to stop by again to try their basque cheesecake!- Miguel Morales Photography

I said I would return. Each time I go to market, I go earlier than most vendors are open and I also don't go to both sides or the market. Habit, I guess. Market brought out a wonderful ambiance for all vendors!!Well, today I walked the entire market and also tried a bunch of different items. I told myself I wanted to try this place again because I knew my first review wouldn't be what they were about. I let them work out the kinks since they first were at market. I knew to give them another chance. I'm glad I did. Let me tell you. The flavor is good. In this humidity to create pastry so delicate and good like them is amazing. The after taste proved they use great butter. The ingredients are high quality and the freshness of the pastry even after hours of it being out shows the excellent workmanship of the bakers!! I'm just amazed and happy. They're organized and friendly. The prices are great. Let me tell you because there are places charging this much and they don't come near the flavor, texture or look of this vendor. I'm glad I came back and mahalo for doing what you do. Next time I want a buttery, flakey, not overly sweet, and high quality pastry, I'm coming back!!!

Oh me oh my. I've been told by many a bread/pastry loving friend that I must try Wallflour and it did not disappoint! My favorites included:- Basque cheesecake: as a cheesecake aficionado, this is hands down one of the BEST cheesecakes I've had in Hawaii so far! Not too sweet, perfect texture, with that smokey burnt top...MMM!- strawberries and cream paris brest: holy moly, what an incredible composition of the perfect cream, sweet strawberry, and flaky pastry. like eating a cloud!- guava cream cheese danish: o-m-g guava should be on everything, and it really shined in this pastry!- any donut- they really do donuts well here. so yeasty/pillowy, perfect fillings. you can't go wrong with any of them!My favorite savory pastries included:- Squash flat. I'm not even a squash person but this was so delicious and balanced.- Tomato Pesto danish. Like a breakfast pizza. The tomato sauce was punchy and bright, the pesto was earthy, the pastry was perfect.Just OK for me: sesame croissant (I thought the texture was a little dry and not as flaky/tender as I would have liked but the sesame filling was quite nice), ham/gruyere croissant (again, croissant was rather dry for my liking but the ham was delicious), regular croissant (I am sensing a theme, maybe I just went on a day when the croissants weren't quite the way I like)This is the main reason I go to the Kakaako farmers market!!!

Yipppeee, we were lucky enough to be in town for the Kaka'ako Farmers Market in Honolulu held on Saturdays. There is just too much food available in Oahu and we had been buying lots of snacks. We saw the Wallflour booth and everything looked so delicious. My wife and I planned to buy one pastry to share. Everything looked so good that we ended up buying 3 pastries. We tried a cinnamon roll, a banana hazelnut croissant and a pear osmanthus brioche tart. All three were delicious, light, fresh ingredients and loved the fruits. The cinnamon roll was the right chewiness, nice frosting and cinnamon seasoning. The hazelnut banana filling was actually evenly distributed inside the croissant and each bite was tasty. The pear osmanthus brioche tart was soft, excellent balance of sweetness and taste of fresh fruit all combined in a great pastry. On our next trip, we plan to try more and different pastries. Now that we are familiar with Walflour we can be strategic in how many and where we buy treats to eat.Save your dessert appetite and get multiple pastries on Saturday mornings.
