Pretty disappointed with this hotel as it was highly reviewed on Yelp and on booking websites. We stayed here for the first 3 days of our trip and we did not have a pleasant stay. We booked an ocean view queen room. You can barely see the ocean as it was blocked by a taller hotel right across. The walls are pretty thin and you can hear everything happening out on the streets. It was dirty and felt really small for 2 people. The walls were dirty. The AC had mold on the inside, was really loud, and cooled down the room really slow. There were stains on the carpet, sheets, and towels. Bathroom felt very cramped as well. The toilet didn't flush well. On the day we requested room cleaning, we came back to a nice tray of snacks on our bed, thinking this was their small gift to us since we mentioned we were on our honeymoon. We flipped the card over only to find out it wasn't addressed to us. They gave us another guests' card....wonder if they got ours instead. On a more positive note, they had complimentary breakfast, water refill stations, and beach equipment for you to borrow. It is located within walking distance to several places downtown. We were able to check in early as we arrived prior to our check in time. Front desk was very friendly and provided us complimentary pineapple juice upon arrival.

My husband and I visit HI at least once or twice a year. This year we went back to Oahu and opted for a boutique hotel that is fun, welcoming and walking distance from Duke's statue. For the first 4 days, we stayed in a studio air bnb but the last 4 days we stayed at Vive where we celebrated my birthday. Complimentary juice, water from that cool dispenser, board games, breakfast, chairs, umbrellas but the best part of Vive were the people - especially the valet attendants. I fell in love with all of them because they were so sweet, efficient and kind. Despite the loud construction, I didn't have a care in the world because the staff was the best. Helpful, efficient and nice. The hotel layout was efficiently designed - not a lot of wasted space. The furniture and brightly painted walls simply perfect for the vibrant atmosphere. We are heading to BI next year but look forward to staying at Vive again.

My husband and I stayed here for a delayed honeymoon during the beginning-mid October of this year. We originally booked a different hotel, but after seeing a handful of terrible reviews for the other hotel, we decided to switch and stay with VIVE instead. We went back and forth between finding a place with an ocean front view or not, and decided that it was okay not having an ocean front view, as we could probably find somewhere within walking distance of the beach - which VIVE hotel is (it is also within walking distance of the main shopping strip, tons of other really good food places, 20 min from the airport by car, 10 min from Diamond Head by car, and 10 min by walking from the Honolulu Zoo).Upon arriving, we first dropped our rental car off with the valet who was cordial and helpful. Check-in went smoothly - we paid for the rest of our trip (since the reservation was only the first night's deposit) and we also were given these yummy pineapple drinks right at the front desk ! The guy at the front desk also told us about the free usage of beach towels, umbrellas, boogie boards, cooler bags, and the like, and also gave us a sheet of the best food and activity recommendations around Waikiki and the island. When we got to our room, it was as expected as we saw on the website when reserving it - we had booked the ocean view suite (note: something important about booking in Hawaii is that ocean front is different from ocean view!). My husband appreciated the large shower area, and we both appreciated how many channels were available via cable (I think?) on the television (we wish it would have been easier to live cast our phones onto the TV though. I think there was an option to do so but it was not as easy to figure out as for example a Roku device). Some other room related things to praise - neighbors were quiet and room service always respected our 'do not disturb' sign.Another huge perk about VIVE hotel that was a win point for us was the complimentary breakfast ! It wasn't anything fancy and it was really just a continental-style breakfast, but it was a lot ! There were always eggs, some kind of meat (usually sausage or bacon), fruits, sweet pastries, savory pastries, toast, and oatmeal. They also had orange juice, coffee, and tea. As someone who is generally pescatarian, I still got by, but I wish they would have had some kind of non-meat savory pastry at least ! Oh also, throughout the day, they left the coffee and tea out. Another thing to note is that the kitchen and lobby area always have a microwave, hot water, and cold water for all the guests. It was always nice getting our rental car from the valets, too ! We never had to wait long and they were so friendly. Quick note also about valet - parking when we went cost an additional $40 per night.Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here !Some small cons:The bedding was not entirely clean on our first night, same with some of the bath towels. I saw some dirt marks and stains on them. However, for the rest of our time there, these were always replaced with clean ones.Continuing on the topic of cleanliness, the breakfast/lounging area had these fabric chairs with a lot of stains/crumbs on them that did not seem to be cleaned. Also I know some people did not prefer the limited seating there during breakfast, but somehow my husband and I always managed to grab a seat somewhere, since we did not mind sitting with other people. The elevators are also hard to catch in the mornings - as I think people are heading down and up for breakfast and checking out. There was one day where my husband and I ended up just taking the stairs from the eighth floor because we were waiting so long.Regardless of these points, we still enjoyed staying at VIVE and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for hotels in Waikiki !

Love the VIVE. Found this lovely place a year ago. Love the included breakfast. So convenient to be able to eat on site without waiting for breakfast in a restaurant. The staff here is incredibly nice. They found out we were returning guests and brought us some Hawaiian snacks and a bottle of Sparkling Cider. It was so nice. While the rooms are on the smaller side (think cruise cabin) from other hotels we have stayed at in the past, you're really only sleeping there, cleaning up, and resting. They have beach towels, chairs, umbrellas for sun and rain, bags to carry your stuff to the beach in and suntan locion (in case you run out and don't want to buy a whole bottle). This is now my absolutely "go to" place for Waikiki. The only reason for the 4 stars is that there's no pool. While I love the beach (easy walking distance), sometimes I want to just lay by the pool. Sad that there isn't one.

We were researching hotels in the Waikiki area and found that this one had positive reviews at a good price so we decided on Vive Hotel. It is in a central location and is walking distance from most attractions. They have a parking lot which is nice if you rent a car, and check-in and check-out times are 3pm and 11am respectively. When we arrived to check in, we were offered complimentary pineapple juice which was a nice touch with a Hawaiian feel. They have a comfortable and relaxing lounge area with board games for guests to borrow. They have complimentary breakfast everyday from 7-9:30am which was actually pretty tasty and featured a variety of fruit. Our room was on the smaller side but was quaint and nice. It had a desk, mini-fridge, and TV on the wall. The staff was very accommodating and getting towels and other items were easy; a quick call and they brought them up pretty quickly. One downside was that the AC unit was quite loud and clanky, which made it difficult to sleep at times. Also, being next to a bus stop meant that it could be noisy in the morning. One nice perk is that they offer beach chairs, mats, towels, boogie boards, and beach umbrellas for guests to borrow. Another perk is that they allow guests to store luggage with them after check-out in case you want to explore the area some more.We had a really nice stay here and it was really clean!

Another great stay at Vive hotel. Has everything I personally need. Upon check in was greeted by the tasty pineapple juice which is always refreshing. I can also appreciate the water filling stations located by the parking garage and 1st floor.Breakfast is also filling with pastries, fresh fruit, protein (rotated bacon and sausages) egg, oatmeal, toasts, coffees and teas. They have beach gear included which is awesome.. we stayed at a Westin and they provided 2 towels per day no other gear unless you wanted to pay extra. Staff are always so nice and check in on us if we need anything. A less than 5 min walk to the beach and strip. We find ourselves staying at this hotel but not really exploring Waikiki much but the location is very convenient. Vive feels like family!

Absolutely wonderful stay this past summer!Princess and Arnel were outstanding and truly made our visit complete. Thank you both for showing us so much Aloha spirit during our time at your hotel.Princess gave us wonderful tips on happy hour spots as well as places to visit on the island. We have been to Oahu several times but it was nice getting feedback from a local. Arnel was awesome as well and assisted us with checking out and our luggage. Both were super friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had a great stay...we look forward to staying with them again next Spring. Our room was a bit on the small side but was decorated in fun vibrant colors and had everything we needed. It was very clean and the beds were comfy. The hotel also offers a free breakfast buffet daily that includes fresh pineapple juice, fruit, pastries, bread, eggs and breakfast meat. It saved us quite a bit on costs during our vacation and is one of the few hotels in the vicinity that offer this. The also offer beach chairs, boogie boards and beach umbrellas that you can borrow rather than buying at one of the many ABC stores. Unfortunately, there is no pool at this boutique hotel, however, you can still use other hotel's pools with really no issue. So it wasn't a dealbreaker for us since we prefer the beach anyway.Vive is located on Kuhio and is just a few blocks away from the beach. It's also in close proximity to Maragume Udon and EbiNomi which we frequented alot due to their reasonable prices and delicious food. You're also close the International Marketplace as well as Duke's Market plus a ton of other shops.Definitely our new hotel go-to spot when we vacation in Honolulu. Thank you Vive!

My fiancé and I recently stayed here in October. And we have a wonderful experience. we booked directly with the hotel and were able to get a discount because we were staying for at least 7 days. when we first arrived, we were greated by Richard, the very friendly Valet driver. We often chatted with him in the garage. The front desk staff was always friendly and helpful, assisting us with anything that we need. An extra bonus with this hotel is that they provide umbrella's, coolers, beach chairs, boogie boards, and any other thing that you need to head to the beach. They also allow you to rent out Go pros for water activities and to use during the duration of your stay. You do put down a deposit and require your own SD card. We already had waterproof phone cases so we did not take advantage of this. But I thought it was an awesome feature of the hotel. The beach is literally so close. I would say maybe a 3 or 4 minute walk from the hotel. It's a great location and also right next to maguro spot (poke place) and the really popular masubi iyasube Cafe! It is also close to the international marketplace, Marugame udon, and a lot of great stores. We got a standard clean room which was more than enough space for us. AC was working well. You can connect netflix and other streaming services to your TV, which is nice. Breakfast was nice and included meat, eggs, pastries and fruit. Also something that we thought was really nice was that if you need to leave early, they can pack your lunch before breakfast time starts.Note: There is no gym on the premise. You can request to borrow a fitness kit which we ended up using just to stretch and exercise in your room. You have the option to buy a day pass if you'd like to go to the gym. Also, there is no pool. I don't think either of those are necessary as you are so close to the beach so you might as well swim at the beach. Also, the location is close to multiple hiking routes, you should just go on a hike if you want to exercise.Overall five out of five I would definitely recommend as it has a great location, extremely friendly staff, and is an affordable hotel.

We were guests at the Vive Hotel for 6 nights. Here are my notes (spoiler: all positive!)The hotel does not have a swimming pool, however you are literally 3 (short) blocks away from Waikiki beach. Also, as guests, the hotel provides beach towels, beach chairs, beach mats, and more at no extra added cost/fee.Hotel staff:The valet crew were exceptional and very accommodating. They were quick to retrieve our car and super friendly to us! Whether we needed something from our car, extra towels, pillows, etc, they were quick to respond and we appreciated that very much!Breakfast:The breakfast is your standard one with eggs, sausage, various fruits, coffee, juice, oatmeal, and pastries. The fruits are all fresh. You might be tempted to explore nearby restaurants for breakfast, but as soon as you see the long lines you'll be thankful for the breakfast at the hotel. Also, if needed, you can also request them to make you a to-go box in case you are not able to make it to breakfast. Just have to call the front desk and put in a request day/night before. The room:So imagine a standard hotel room, but it's split in half with a wall in between. On each side is a bathroom and bed (duh). This was most welcome to us because we have toddler and don't share her bedtime schedule. While she sleeps in one room, we can stay up in the other without bothering her.Overall Vive Hotel had everything we needed: Friendly and responsive staff, clean rooms, and much needed breakfast meal in the morning!

LOCATIONWaikiki is the place to stay if you prefer the convenience of big city life over the rustic, sleepy parts of Oahu that are less than an hour away. Vive is a five minute walk to the beach and anything else you will need (food, drink, bike rental).SERVICEEveryone is super friendly and attentive, from check-in to valet to food servers to maids.LOBBY Attractive lobby with rec room feel, with board games, small library, a pair of swinging chairs. After my wife sat in one, I asked her if she wanted to swing. She pointed out a tall Australian which was awkward. To keep out the riff-raff (there isn't much), doors close 9pm-9am to anyone without a key. Warning: the elevator voice whispers "one" when you get to the lobby, and it sounds like a ghost. It's creepy. It's doubly creepy if your name is Juan.AMENITIESEither from the front desk or the valet, beach gear (boogie boards, towels, mats) is available without any paperwork, deposits, waiting, thumbprints, etc.VALETYou pay at the end ($35 each day, as of 2/23), and you get in and out priviliges. Valet is not my favorite, I don't know why. It could be security, pressure to load or unload quickly, tipping or tip guilt, or stranger farts (best show on Netflix), but it was super convenient. BREAKFASTOpen for two hours (7-9am), it gets packed, but the food is always being replenished and the food area is clean. Each day was bread (regular or sweet, plus three different muffins, croissant, with jellies, butter squares, and peanut butter), hot oatmeal (w/ choc chip and coconut for toppings), 4-5 fruits, pineapple juice, coffee (not strong, but available all day), water and ice, cheese sometimes (my fave Cure song), plus rotating meat (diced ham or sausage links or bacon) and eggs (hard-boiled or scrambled). The main traffic is at the two four-slice toasters and a pair of unintuitive toaster ovens. Every day we saw foreigners complain that they didn't have milk. Tables are limited, so you may need to use a coffee table and eat living-room style. Bonus: hotel breakfast likely saved us $30 or more a day, plus it made us get out of bed by 8:30 and start our dayeROOMNice enough. Clean. Comfortable. Wifi worked. Water pressure sucked, but the water was instantly hot. Fridge. No heater. One downside is noise. Even from the 17th floor and the a/c on, you could hear the cars and people from the street. However, I did not hear my neighbors, which is more important to me. And vice versa. Especially when my neighbors look at us after hearing us fight all night from the "swinging" mix-up, and I have to tell them we were watching Ozark.
