Second rating. Their pricing on many items is out of date. Ex, milk is priced at $4.99 and sells for $7.25.Please update pricing.

Pretty much on par with what the other reviews have said; it is super convenient as I can walk from my condo in Makiki but their prices are extremely high. I will say that when I've been in a pinch and needed a quick item or two they are my go to place, but other than that I try to avoid shopping here. It's a shame that this business and some of the other businesses around it choose to gouge their neighbors with exorbitant prices because it does not make me feel pride at having this place in my neighborhood. The staff are friendly though and I don't know what some of these other reviewers are so upset about but maybe the place was having an off day when they visited. Other than the prices I have no complaints. Would happily spend more money here if they toned it down a notch on their gold-plated pricing strategy...

While it's only like a five or six minute walk to get to Village Market on foot from where I live, I can get to the nearest 7-Eleven to our neighborhood for $2.75 on the bus, buy a cheap beer for about $3.50 for one bottle, and catch the bus home w/o having to have my holocard charged a second time. That's $6.25 for me to be able to chill on the couch with a cheap beer w/o getting too sweaty in the process.Village Market's debit card minimum is $7, so I'd have to buy an extra beer, (which is not a terrible thing), but I HAVE to do it just to get the first beer, plus since the bus only comes about every half hour, might as well just walk there and walk back unless I just happen to get lucky coming or going. The nearest ATM (which doesn't currently work as of two weeks ago) charges $3.75 for non-bank customers, which is more than the bottle of beer I go there to buy sometimes. So basically, Village Market is more work AND more expensive on average. The staff is that type that isn't rude, but aren't clearly welcoming either. The gentleman that does security at night is the exception: dude is always upbeat and awesome.

I came to this restricted village market to buy a some water. When they obtained the product they asked for payment. When i presented my EBT they complained about and said they don't except EBT card from my kind. Being homeless and black i guess i knew what they were referring to. I don't recommend buying or supporting this local grocery store because i feel they are racist and profilers. God bless.

You're better off walking down the street to Walmart, Walgreens, Safeway or Times Supermarket because everything here is overpriced. Maybe you're being charge for convenience. If you just need a 6-pack of Stella, I'll get it from here. It's cheaper than going out to bars. For a can of Vienna Sausage, I think it's $1.35 when you can get it for less than a dollar at Walmart.I tried bringing in my dog here after a long walk and was denied entry. NO DOGS ALLOWED. I see employees bring their dogs in here all the time!

I grew up near this little store so I have a lot of tolerance for the lack of customer service that everyone complains about but today was the final straw. My mother took my 4-year old daughter to the store on their weekly trip to buy her some candy and the woman at the register (Jamie Koga) screamed at my little girl to "Shut up" and not shop at the store anymore when all she did was inquire about the price of one of the candies. My daughter was shocked and probably a little traumatized. Even the other people in the store were shocked and appalled at her behavior and suggested calling the police. When I just called to complain, she had no remorse and started yelling at me on the phone as well. I plan to call the manager and owner tomorrow when they are in as this type of behavior shouldn't be tolerated.I will never shop at this store again and suggest others to avoid them as well.

Customer service is excellent. I know the prices are up there, however, you pay for convenience. I've never experienced a negative interaction. Of course, I wish their prices on everything were lower, however, it is what it is.

The grocery clerk was a very rude old Woman. All I needed was a bag of cheese to make my kid A grilled cheese sandwich. She told me I could not bring my service animal into The store without her certification papers. Seriously all I needed was a bag of cheese so my kid can eat his favorite lunch and you are depriving him of that because you won't let me in for one minute grab a bag of cheese? And so what do you expect me to do with my dog rude woman ? Leave her in the car when it's about 90° outside? You really are that heartless? I really can't believe humans can have this little manners and still hold a job. I truly hope you spend the rest of your days in a hot retirement home wishing that anyone would visit you and save you from the heat because apparently you do not care about animals.

Ive never posted a review before but after going to this place, I felt the need to. Everything is basically priced x2 what it is at any other store. I spent literally 20 minutes waking around the first time I went there to find anything that was reasonably priced and literally found nothing and walked out. I live nearby and decided to just take the hit in price and shop there the next time I went. I can't say for sure if this is the case but I believe that because everything is very overpriced, their products don't sell and sit on shelves for a long time. After opening/eating their products, almost all of the things I bought seemed old and had lost the quality you expect from it if you were to buy it anywhere else. Also, the owner seems to be this asian lady who I did not get a good impression from. I don't know if it was an outlier or if its a consistent thing but this one time when I was the only customer left in the store, I was behind one of their shelves and I personally heard and then witnessed her being unnecessarily condescending to her employee. I understand sometimes its necessary to discipline an employee to run your business the way you expect it to but this seemed excessive. It was very off putting and I really wanted to say something but once she saw me approaching the cashier/employee she completely changed her persona, smiled at me, and walked into the back. Her employee seemed very embarrassed and it seemed to me she couldn't say anything because she needed the job. It was very uncomfortable. I would highly HIGHLY recommend you don't purchase anything from here unless you have no other choice.

They took the convenience out of convenience store. They only allow 2 people in the store at a time, even if patrons are wearing masks, which means you could wait up to 20 minutes just to get in to buy a quick item. They also don't allow bags. I asked why, and an older man immediately wanted to kick me out without even a reason except that it's the store's rules or else. Wouldn't hear me out. He was extremely rude and managed the store like a greedy authoritarian with no regard for customer service. Do not support businesses like this that do not treat customers with even a modicum of respect.
