We love coming to this spot after a meal at the Ward. The kid loves perusing the comic book section. This is where he's bought comic books every year on vacation. I love book stores in general so I don't mind hanging out checking out all the new books and art they have.We love coming here every year we're in town :)

Paper books are now a thing of the past with the advent of technology and digital reads. However, this store is truly a gem reminiscent of the past at very affordable prices. There are shelves and shelves of used books, paintings propped up at the front of the store and toys situated in the corner. Love this mini library where we can browse and browse hoping to find that one book we have not seen yet.The cookbooks are older books with with recipes dating back from generation ago. Found some super cool books with island recipes with old favorites such as mochiko chicken and party mix your way. Books appear best at random time. Inventory seems to change over frequently. This is like a mini library that has people wandering the isles Service is lackluster but it's that's fine. Fun to shop in the store. Mini vintage items liter the area. It's a fun place to peruse and kill time. Selections are limited.

Friends of the Library is a great organization, helping to get donated books, sell them and make money to support out local State of Hawaii libraries. Some of the libraries have small bookstores available, but not all. So I like that there's a bigger store, here at Ward Village, and there's such a huge selection.Although most of the books here were more than likely donated, I'm glad that they are able to make money off of them, and they sell their books at really decent prices. I've seen them ranging from $1-$4 for used books. I know of other used book sellers here in the island that sell them anywhere from $5-$9 for stuff they got for free! The people who work here are friendly, and helpful, so it's always a good time when I get to stop in here! I looove me a goooood bookstore!

Was really surprised to see a bookstore at Ward village! I thought it's newly opened but after I read other reviews I realized it used to be pop up and now turned into a permanent location.According to the staff all the books and collections were donated and proceeds will go back to the foundation. They have a really great variety of books: fiction, cookbooks, foreign language books, textbooks, etc. everything was so well organized. Besides books they also have artwork, CDs, music sheets, puzzles! At the end we found a box of puzzle that we really like! They also have workshops every month. The next one is origami workshop and it's on Oct 22!

I really like Friends of the Library organization. I've found great books throughout the many years that I've known of their existence and they're all so cheap! On top of that, this organization actually appreciates teachers and shows their appreciation every year by gifting teachers books that we can choose for our classrooms. It's nice to find a great book and feeling like you're reducing waste by reusing the book instead of letting it be thrown away. Ever since Covid started, I've missed going to McKinley HS to go to the book sales, but I'm glad the friends of the library opened a brick and mortar store in Ward. They've been having sales at Ward for a few years now, in the big space where pier 1 used to be. It doesn't feel the same as McKinley, probably because it's nicely air conditioned now, but I can still find quite a few books I like. The store and the sale also have CDs, records and DVDs if that's your thing. I like that they have a Hawaiian section and that they also sell art. The workers are all really nice too!

The Hawaii State Library book sales are always a highlight when they happen. Selling off donated media to raise funds for the library system, you'll always find treasures. A few years ago, they announced a temporary book store at Ward Village, which has since moved and become a permanent fixture. I finally got to visit the new location and was impressed.Specifically located in the Ward Centre building, parking is plentiful and free in the attached garage. The store has large windows, giving great natural lighting while browsing. The staff are volunteers and were super funny and friendly on my visit; they clearly take pride in the store. It's well organized for the space with books, music, movies, video games, art, games, and vinyl. It's great for all ages as well, with a dedicated children's area. At the entrance, seasonal displays welcome you in (as of this writing it was Halloween and Thanksgiving). Prices are super reasonable on everything; it is all priced to raise money. It feels so nice to have a proper bookstore in Honolulu as so many have closed. With constant donations, you'll always find something new. I highly recommend stopping in!

This place is so cool!!! Nicely organized with lots of books and other library items at very good prices. Love the location, organization, and look. Check it out, there's nothing to compare looking at real books in person! And I say this as a person who does almost all of my reading on an electronic device haha.I love books!! I was so sad to have to donate a lot of my books when I did some house moves, but that doesn't mean I can't get a fix by visiting this store!

I've always passed this place but haven't been inside yet until recently. I didn't know that they have these mini workshops every month or every other month on Saturdays! (I am not quite sure...)Yesterday, they had this adorable flower arrangement workshop! The bottom part that holds everything is a Skunk Tree seed pod! Despite the name, the dried pod is a heart shape! And they added Pele's hair moss to hold the flowers and plants. That was such a great idea. You don't need any previous experience in flower arrangements and the ladies there were so nice!! Thank you so much for the fun activity and can't wait to go to more!TIP: You have to sign up on a time slot in order to participate. You can go earlier than your time slot, so don't worry.

Booksale in Honolulu's Ward Village...If you remember the Friends of the Library Annual Book Sale, you'll like Village Books and Music at Ward.Every year, I used to look forward to the sale at McKinley High School's cafeteria. Browsing though the countless tables of books, I'd find many treasures such as cookbooks, travel books, and novels that I've always wanted to read. The only bad thing about the booksale back then was the heat. Uhg. Summer in Honolulu without air conditioning is torture. This year, the booksale is so much better! Located at the former site of Pier 1 Imports, the Friends of the Library have a new home! It's clean, spacious, well lit, and AIR CONDITIONED!!! PLUS... There's free, covered parking in the structure! The parking entrances are on Queen Street and Auahi Street! It doesn't get much better!Everything is neatly organized by catagory. For example, children's books, audiobooks, CDs, and DVDs are to the left of the front door. Artwork and collectables are to the right. Fiction is straight ahead while everything else is in-between. Refer to the handy map for your favorites.Just remember that the sale runs until August 2021 and that they're closed on Mondays. I'll be back soon with my mom... She'll enjoy the experience and the low prices!
