Had dinner here last night with a few friends. This is one of my friend's favorite spot for local Japanese food. Upon dining here last night I did notice a sign that they will be closed from 1/24 to 2/11. I guess they're going in vacation.I had the two choice combination that was amazing. The Okinawa shoyu pork was really good and there tempura too . I noticed they have other great selection such as the oxtail soup and udon tooService was level was good, keeping our beverages topped off, and also kept our tables clean Overall I would recommend this place but will wait when they open again

We decided to come here with friends that like Okinawan food. I wanted to try the pigs feet soup but my friend said it was tasty but the last time it was not as soft as the other two times. So I went for the oxtail soup. It was very yummy yum yum! The tempura was pretty amazingly yummy yum yum. The salmon was cooked a little too much for me. I like moist and soft salmon. The Teri chicken was tasty. Oh we got an appetizer that was tuna wrapped In seaweed and fried like tempura style. That was pretty yummy yum yum. Service was pretty good and we will be back.

Food here is very good. Very, very good. They do a mixture of Japanese and Okinawan dishes. The Soki soup was outstanding and their champuru options are all very good. However the prices have gone up. The menu prices reflect Ala carte orders. For an additional $8 you can make it a full meal with a salad or miso soup, drink and dessert. Service is attentive. We didn't have reservations and waited about 15 minutes for a table. The restaurant is cosy and a bit cluttered but adds to homeyness. I guess food prices are going up everywhere. If the price point for the complete meal was $6 I would've probably added it. $8 is a bit steep for a small salad or miso soup, a drink and jello or small scoop ice cream for dessert.

Had dinner with friends. For one couple it was their first time there. They all said that the food at Utage was winner. Thankfully I had made reservations. They were turning away walk ins. The service was excellent as usual. Tonight I tried the Furukaki Ahi. It had a good taste and had a crispy shell. Overall taste was good ,but the ahi was a little dry. Still a great restaurant. Enjoy

2-12-25 updateAfter a long day at the doctors we decided to have a late lunch and early dinner. I ordered their beef tofu complete meal and my husband ordered a dish called nakami which is stir fry pork stomach and shitake mushrooms and onions and konyaku slices. He said was good and my beef tofu was good lots of tofu, vegetables and slices of thin beef. Normally I order the salmon with ponzu sauce but I wanted to try the beef tofu again it's still good both dishes.

Annual get together with my favorite co-workers from two decades ago, ahem(!) - and this year, we met at Utage for dinner!Ample parking available outside of the restaurant, thankfully, since it was drizzling on arrival.Very popular place as an Okinawan specialty venue, family owned and operated! Enjoyed the good food and great friends - we each had the combo meals so we could have both the tempura and well known shoyu pork (I was so full I had to take the whole serving of pork home for another meal)! Dessert was included so of course we had the specialty ice creams from Dave's!And Yay! We special ordered our andagi for next day pick up-as they sell out like hot cakes! Only made fresh on Friday mornings, so go get 'em!PS. I got more than everyone could enjoy so I even shared the andagi the next day - and my craft fair friends could not believe how yummy and crunchy they were, even then! That's how well made they are! Got the original and their seasonal gingerbread andagi and both were delish!Service was amazing, by a family member, of course!Made friends with the table next door and laughed a lot. It was a delightful first time visit and I'll definitely be back!!!

I had to make a special trip to try Utage since they serve Okinawan dishes. We visited them on our trip 3 years ago! Located in a strip mall, it wasn't very busy when we came. It's a smaller, older establishment. I had to order the Okinawa soba and hubs got a bento. I am quite critical when it comes to Okinawan soba since I'm an Oki and I've had best from my family members. Utage's soba was pretty good and I will likely return if I'm back in Oahu!
