DO NOT HAVE YOUR SEWING MACHINES SERVICED HERE OR AT THE PEARL CITY LOCATION!!! YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED!!!Recently sent my Bernina sewing machine for servicing, pulling, cleaning & to repair a malfunctioning reverse-stitch function. Got a call the next day that the machine was ready for pickup. Hmmm, delivery to the Auahi Street main location and back to Pearl City in one day? I've had the same machine serviced there in the past and it took at least a couple of weeks. Didn't get to use the sewing machine until after the 3-month " warranty" period but the reverse-stitch still didn't work. I called another technician referred by a friend and when he took off the feed dog plate, it was full of fabric lint. Apparently U S. Sewing didn't even bother to hide the fact that they did nothing but fleece me of $290. We spent another $270 for the second technician to service the machine and now everything works fine. I wish Yelp had a zero stars option. This place earned that! Anyone experiencing the same, please report them to the Better Business Bureau.

Shopping for a sewing machine on the Island of Oahu...Because wearing face masks are a necessity at this time, I wanted to get a sewing machine for my sister and her daughters. I believe that sewing is a practical skill and wanted to pass on some knowledge to my nieces. Unfortunately, all six Walmarts on the Island of Oahu were sold out of sewing machines, thread, and elastic! Wow! I went to another sewing machine repair shop in Kaneohe before I visited US Sewing and Vacuum in Honolulu. My friend, Donna O., suggested that I take a look at US Sewing and Vacuum which is located near the brand new H Mart. I had seen this shop on Auahi Street because I drove past it many times when I went to Kaka'ako. The free parking and pleasant air conditioning were much appreciated!Inside the store, there were three employees. The male staff was helping a customer in a foreign language. The younger gal was eating her lunch in plain view and she left her open container to go to the cash register area to assist customers. The older female wasn't wearing a face mask. She tried to sell me an expensive machine at first. I had to stop her and say that I wanted a very basic machine. I'm quite sure that I bought my current machine at Walmart for $100. She then showed me the eight boxes of Singer sewing machines... great!I asked her how much would it cost if I got two machines. She was willing to knock off $10 each machine. I texted my sister a photo. Too bad my sister said that she didn't have time or the space for a machine. I told the lady that I would buy just one machine. She gave me a $9 discount after all - yay! Thanks to US Sewing and Vacuum for having machines in stock! There also were lots of thread and some fabric. There's a 15 percent discount if you cut your own material! As for this Singer sewing machine ($229 + tax), there's a warranty for 90 days. No returns, but an upgrade and/or exchange is available!

Got an error code on my Bernina 780 and went in for assistance and they wouldn't even look at my machine unless I agree to a $349 charge! Forget that! This is where I have purchased my machines.....until now. I took my machine and went somewhere else where they gladly looked at my machine and provided assistance and didn't even charge me! Never again going to US Sewing! You always feel like you have been had at USSewing! So if that's what you're going for stay with them. But if you expect honest, upfront, service go elsewhere! Anywhere else!

Tried to get scissors sharpened but should have called ahead . I took an Uber here thinking I could run a quick errand while my car was in the shop. I should have called first because they didn't have anyone on staff to sharpen my scissors. I did get my scissors sharpened here in the past, so that was disappointing.

They had me drive my sewing machine from Mākaha to get an estimate. I asked if they give estimate over the phone for servicing and maintenance since I live over an hour away, they said no estimates over the phone. Took my machine to town & the owner didn't glance at the machine at all. Just said "service is $159 you like or not?!" I walked out.

The worst customer service. Unless you are going to spend thousands of dollars dont bother. I went in to buy a basic Singer nothing fancy. They do have some basic Singer machines in there but they don't want to bother with you. Why sell them if you are not going to provide customer service? They just all walked away from me.Thats ok. I will look on Amazon.Didnt want to wait but after dealing with that I will wait for it to be delivered to my front door.

I've been a customer at US Sewing & Vacuum for over 4 years, and have given them a lot of my money. Each transaction makes me feel as though the owner cares only about his profit rather than the quality of product and service. Most recently, I took my machine into the shop for the annual maintenance. Their price for this service has increased $100 over what I've paid for the past 3 years. They didn't provide an itemized list of what was done for this cost, and did not fix one of the issues I identified. I returned the machine several times for this issue and they were unable to fix it. I love Bernina machines but if you're looking to buy one, try online. If you need a repair, try another shop.

I went here to look at a specific Singer sewing machine. The man who waited on me seemed nice enough when I first walked in, but when I asked whether the machine was in stock, he started walking to the back of the store while speaking so softly that I had to keep asking him to repeat himself. "No. We only stock machines that we don't have to fix very often," which seemed a bit disparaging. Then I asked whether he had any machines in the $400 - $500 range. After nodding toward one machine, he said "we probably don't have what you're looking for, to be honest."Okay, fair enough. As I was walking toward the door, I saw a Viking embroidery machine with a HUGE embroidery area, and I asked what size hoop it used. Rather than answering, he replied "That machine costs $14,000.""Okay, but I asked what size hoop it uses." Pointing at two spots on the deck of the machine, he replied, "It goes from there to there." Very informative. Thanks loads. So my take-away is if I were willing to spend several thousand dollars for an embroidery machines, he would have been willing to answer all my questions. Otherwise, I am not the kind of customer that he wants.

I took two pairs of scissors to be sharpened. It was returned with the word "done" on the receipt and I paid $10 for each scissors. One pair was okay but the other scissors was not sharp at all. I returned that scissors since there was a 90 day guarantee. After a few days I received a call saying the scissors could not be sharpened. I asked why not and the salesperson was unable to tell me. She said nothing was written on the receipt. She offered me a credit when I picked up the scissors. Later that day I called and spoke to John at the Auahi Store. He said that knives and scissors are sharpened differently. That had nothing to do with my scissors. I asked why "done" was written on the receipt the first time and the second time I was told the scissors couldn't be sharpened. Why wasn't I told that the first time? John offered the credit and I explained that I did get the credit but I was calling to ask why his employee is dishonest to say it was "done" then later it couldn't be sharpened. When I picked up the two pairs of scissors the first time, there was a man in the Kam Hwy. store who said "the scissors is not sharpened. That guy is stupid. The grindstone is not there". I told John this asking why one person knew that the scissors couldn't be sharpened yet the person doing the sharpening passed it off as "done". I suggested that John speak to his employees that they shouldn't be dishonest and secondly, their workers shouldn't speak so harshly about a co-worker in the presence of a customer. Later I took both scissors to a business that sharpens knives, scissors, lawn mowers, etc. and was told the scissor that I was told couldn't be sharpened had a layer scraped down. We'll see if it can be sharpened. Don't ever take your precious tools to this store because they have terrible business practices and dishonest workers.
