Take out dim sum cam be a shot in the dark sometimes. This was no blind shot. I've passed by U Choice lots of times but never bothered to try their Managua. I was missing out.I only tried the char siu sue and baked bao but both rate a solid 4 with me. The outer pastry was light and either flaky (sue) or soft ( bao). I'm more used to a pie dough-like pastry fir the sue, but this dough, more croissant-like, works, too. Both had a generous portion of chopped char siu filling, which was very moist...Definitely coming back to try their other dim Sims and their noodles, too!Great friendly service and parking in thr DQ lot wasn't bad either.

This place fits the classic signs of an Asian restaurant where the food is gonna be fire. If you have to question how they passed their health code, the food is gonna be good and cheap. Now how they do that, is where I choose to take the "ignorance is bliss" mindset.Disclaimer: This review is based solely on the PORK HASH AND MANAPUA. I have never gotten a plate or anything else outside of the stuff on the left side of the building. And let me tell you, the pork hash is GREAT, I loved getting it whenever I'm in the area for work. Also, the line can get long during lunch time so be sure to time it right if you're on a time crunch. Why did I take off a star? Listen, there's only so much questioning you can do before you feel a little skeptical. Like sometimes I feel like my pork hash should be significantly hotter! Food temperature is something I don't mess with as someone who gets food poisoning because of that exact reason from other restaurants. Also, I've been coming here for two years and the shrinkflation is REAL sadly :( I definitely see it in the pork hash and I wish there was a solution to the problem. At the end of the day, I come here for the pork hash and it hits the spot whenever I'm on lunch break. But it's really disappointing when I get six but they do not feel kept to tempt. Sure, I can nook them in the microwave and maybe be done with it, but at the same time, I also cannot feel safe with that.

This review is based only on the steamed manapua. Looking at the restaurant, it's typical for a local style take out. It has a ready made take out counter for your starch and proteins. There's a dim-sum counter to get your whole roast duck, manapua or pork hash. But, the steamed manapua. The bread is the same kind of bread like the roast duck bun. So it's not the kind of soft fluffy style you would find at dim sum. I'll just call that one the " classic " style. So it's not the classic style but the texture is smooth, firm but still fluffy. The char-siu filling is good. Moist and meaty. Not overly sweet. The chicken filling was skimpy and maybe a little bit dry. Hard to tell since there was so little of it. In a the area? It's an option.

This review is strictly based on my single visit for char siu manapuas.I had a hankering for a good manapua and found this gem by Don Quixote. I tried both the steamed and baked char siu manapua and they were both lovely. Between the two, I thought the steamed manapua was much more enjoyable. I will say there wasn't a lot of filling, but I was satisfied. Also, the char siu was a bit sweeter than I would've preferred. Still, a solid option for manapua and char siu fans. Fairly priced. The real star of this local business was the woman who helped me inside. I regret not having gotten her name but she was sweet and kind. She helped me navigate through my choices and was very patient.

Today was a slow day at U Choice In. There was only one person in the place when I entered and he had already placed his order. I couldn't find anyone to take my order for a few minutes. I saw a sign to ring the bell for service, but lol there was no bell. After looking for someone, I saw a lady and she asked me what I wanted. It was clear that English was not her first language. So I switched to my Chinese American terrible attempt to request dim sum. Somewhat successful because everything else I just pointed to it. I picked up a steamed Manapua for my Dad. He loved it. The char siu steamed Manapua is rated 4.5 stars out of 5 stars. I was surprised that they sold palmiers! I asked if they made it locally. She answered in the affirmative. I tried one and it was good but not as flaky and buttery as I like them. I would rate the palmiers at 3 stars out of 5 stars.

This place has it all! Grouchy worker lady opening the doors late (and looking mighty irritated at the people waiting outside!). 15+ minute waiting (and still getting the order wrong and looking like YOU are the problem). What sounds like massive fighting in the back and Google translate failing to figure out what they are talking about.....Waiting people commenting on who's going to get their order the fastest cause it's taking so long.BUT THE FOOD!I think it's the best tasting steamed manapua that I have tried. I mean, it is REALLY GOOD. The pork hash is the BEST to me. It is pretty much perfect. It's the perfect size to dip in the shoyu/mustard and their shoyu/mustard mix is perfect.Until I eat a better steamed manapua and pork hash, this place is it. Consider the rest of the experience.... an experience you get for FREE!

This use to be my go-to for manapuas. What happened?!I understand having to raise your prices because everything else went up. But to raise your prices and cut the portions. The baked manapua was half the size as before, it was chewy..overall nothing compared to how it use to be. Looked like a dinner roll. Guess I won't be coming back for awhile.

Favorite place to get manapua nowadays. I guess I never knew about this place growing up because it's located in town near the Don Quixote which I've never had to go to back in the day. I've only discovered this place within the last 5 yrs or so because we stay in Waikiki and it's just a 15- 20 min walk from whatever hotel we stay at.The manapua is so soft and steamy when we purchase it. We also get the Jin dui which comes in 3 flavors, char siu, black bean and coconut. I think the black bean is most popular. I've only been able to get it if I've gone earlier in the day. Sometimes the coconut or char siu are the only ones left, which are my favorite. These Jin dui are big too, not like the tiny ones you get in Chinese restaurants. I've also had some of the pastries filled with curry or char siu, those re some.of.my favorites as well. So flaky. They offer other dimsum, and plate lunches too.Workers are very fast and efficient. Especially when there is a line in the morning. You'd better know what you want when you get up there. It's pretty much all takeout because there is no seating indoors, but you can eat at the tables outside where all other diners go. First time I've ever gotten a box of manapua and looks like it will pack well for a plane ride home.
