Grocery shopping in Kalihi, Honolulu, Hawaii...After making soup at church for several days in a row, I realized that I hadn't made any soup with taro. I thought that it would be a nice change with a local flair.I went to The Marketplace at City Square because there's free parking; it's cleaner, safer, and less crowded than Chinatown; and the prices are relatively reasonable. Strolling past the various vendors, I arrived at TST Farm. I perused the produce - and noted that some veggies were chopped up, packaged, and ready to cook. I thought - wow... look at that kabocha (pumpkin)! I want to put that in my soup! There was no taro (I asked), but I got that kabocha!(Service was efficient and polite.)When I got home and opened the bag, the kabocha was peeled and clean... it made my cooking easier, and it made my soup a hit!
