It seems that Tropics has been around forever with a few name changes along the way. The very first Tropics that I stepped foot in was at Ward where Marukai used to be. It was always packed. It would be a sports bar during the day and a club at night. They always had good food. The menu has evolved along the way but the food is still yummy. This is their newest location and it's at Discovery Bay. It still has all the big screen TVs, pool tables and dart boards. Tonight they also had a live band. I ordered one of their chicken pizzas and it was terrific. The crust was thin and crispy. It was a little spicy though.

i have been to this place like 3 times, in the past 3 years, and every time, its a good time. I like how its a mix of locals and tourist, but everyone gets along. Its a dive bar, but not, good size, can fit a lot of people, clean enough, services good bar food, not great, but good enough. Lots of cocktails, and different types of beer and liquor. Prices are really good, good happy hour. Basically you can get hammered without spending a lot. Pool, TVs, darts, music, sometimes live music, you can't really go wrong. Only down side, is no real parking, so better to take an Uber or Lyft. And staff is super nice, and welcoming, not uncommon in Oahu, but still nice to acknowledge. A must try in Waikiki, for a fun night! Dragon Egg approved.

Ordered fish tacos. Comes with 2. Not much flavor but I like the mango salsa which they put more of it and the slaw. The original margarita on the HH menu was very weak. Staff were friendly. bathrooms had no seat covers. This was only a really short distance from my hotel so it was convenient.

If you are staying in Waikiki Beach, this is a Happy Hour you MUST stop in for! $5 Margaritas, $5 beers, & $8 Nachos-what else do you need for the hour to be happy?!? Margaritas are my favorite-so picky I am...and this is theeee spot.

My favorite Happy Hour near the Hilton Hawaiian Village for drinks. The margaritas are handmade with squeezed lemons and taste like they are made with top shelf tequila. Boozy as hell with good pour of tequila. We went twice in 2 days and were not disappointed. Their HH menu is vast with tacos, nachos, beers and multiple cocktails. Can't beat $3 tacos and $5 margs on Taco Tuesdays.

Tropics at discovery bayA friend and resident at the Ilikai suggested us to visit this place for "Taco Tuesday" so we did.We ordered the guacamole + salsa + chips, chicken and pork tacos, and couple of happy hour margaritas. Unfortunately they didn't have the veggie tacos.Food was ok, margaritas were meh, and limes provided with both, food and drinks, weren't fresh as you can see in the attached picture. This wasn't the worst part of the experience.When asking for the check we noticed the price of margaritas was 9 dollars instead of 5.Told the waitress about the issue and she was looking back and forth between check and menu like she wasn't aware of prices. Pretty sure it wasn't her first day at the job.She turned around and in low voice said "sh*t".When she came back with new check and assuming it was just a mistake, we paid and tipped 20%, not judging quality and "mistakes".After paying something else caught our attention: the name given to our table by the waitress.Now the "mistake" price and the label given to us altogether makes sense.This triggered our anger and ruined our day.BTW, for the waitress a Latino and an Asian are europeans. My partner and I have decades of hospitality experience and both agreed this was the lowest standard, racist, clueless and dumb experience we have had at a restaurant.Lastly I'm almost embarrassed to tell our friend from the Ilikai about this experience, however, we'll have to mention it to spread the word, but this time to warn other people about this place and their dishonest and disrespectful behavior.

Lord. This place was the first place I went to when I landed in Hawaii. The service is the best I've had in a bit. The ambiance and atmosphere is great, and the food is a 10/10.

Just set and rotted. It wasn't busy so I have no idea why I wouldn't be waited on. Cool vibe inside as long as you didn't need anything. Music was good and place was clean.
