So I was pretty stoked to be able to come here. I didn't realize it was just entry tickets. It didn't spend money on drinks and I didn't eat. When I got there I went to the valet. He told me I wasn't on the special "guest list" and I would have to park somewhere else. I told him I'm not parking my Z elsewhere and does money talk? He asked what I was talking about and I gave him $20. He was pretty happy with that.So let's rate the place. It's not so upsetting to be 1 star but I definitely won't come back so it's a 2.1 My home system cranks louder with 18" and 12"'subs, lasers, leds, strobes and smoke machines.2 It's outdoor so the environment was pretty hot.3 It's tying hard to be high end. There were not much seating and I heard some of the tables were $800. There was a lot of nice skin showing.4 I love to dance and can do so to practically any music. The DJ was so so. But it was early so we'll see.I don't think I'll ever come again even if Paul sends me free tickets or whatever. It was just not my thing. I had fun dancing though.

Ummm...I really don't know what to say about this event. Thank you yelp for the free ticket, because I do not think I would've purchased one. Upon entering there was a booth to take pictures in our costumes. I have to say that was the only good highlight. It was fun acting out in our outfits and holding up some props. They were able to give each of us a free photo. Checkin in was relatively easy as I pulled out my code for it to be scanned. We were told that yelpers had a separate section in the back with tables. I thought that was pretty sweet. Our tickets were ultra-vip express no line. As we walked towards the back we were looking out for signs to show where yelpers would be stationed. It was non-existent. The so called "tables" were laughable. It was a small circle that could fit about 5 drinks. The music was ok, I'm not sure it was something everyone could dance to. There was a lot of standing, and it just had a weird vibe in the room. The energy was just a little confusing. I saw people's faces looking tired, yawning and bored. Others were just taking pictures and talking. After a while we decided to leave. The trumps party deck on the 6th floor was nice. The pools were good to dip your tired feet in lol. That's it.

Where is trick or treat?Where is the free food as advertised?Where is the free drinks as advertised?Such an weird event, such a strange atmosphere. When we walked in, we were ID checked, asked to give 5-stars on Yelp, and pointed to a "VIP" area. The photo booth was fun, you get a immediate print out of your photo, for free, then things got weird. We can't find the VIP area because there weren't any signs. We were not sure if we could sit down at the couch area because it seemed like bottle service area.Next, we looked for the non-exiting free food & drinks, and instead, we paid $11 dollars per drink for watered down Gin tonic and pickled juice dirty martini that only filled half of the glass with No olives. Drink lines were super long.Never found the place to order food. Then, we danced to the music was not really suitable for dancing. The best thing to do...was to leave. So we left hungry, to Nobu. Best decision ever.

The event could have been 1000x better. Let's break it down Barney style. The music selection, DJ, and sound system were pretty atrocious. I couldn't hear the music and the acoustics were awful. It wasn't bad when I put my ear next to the speaker, but I was trying to avoid being groped by the creepers out there. There were very few people dancing, with exception to the people who shake to anything. The food portions were really small and baseball park quality and the drinks were rightfully expensive. When the drinks are expensive people have one or two. When they're affordable people spend lots more and have an overall good time. They keep coming back for more when they have a good time. $8 for a watered down mix drink is no fun. I enjoyed the setting and the costumes. It was strange that it started so early and ended early. Towards the end of the event it got a lot better. They need to fix the parking situation there also when they have events. It was fun seeing everyone in costumes and despite the experience I'm always willing to try new events.

I was so EXCITED about this event. I waited on pins and needles until I saw the Yelp email saying that me and my +1 were in. Thank you, Yelp! The dress code for the event was very specific. Dress to impress or come in costume. Since I sprained my ankle last week in Pennsylvania, dressing up with heels was completely out. So costume it was! I decided to go as Leela from Futurama to match my purple hair. I even made sure I had my cyclops mask and arm band! The day of the event, I received a few emails from the event coordinator, Paul. It was nice because the emails contained information on parking, food, dress code, and other pertinent info on the event. He did a good job of hyping it up!We showed up a little after 7pm. We had to ask the desk person in the lobby where to go because I didn't see any signs for the event. He directed us where to go. We got to the location and were greeted by the ticket checkers. Showed them my digital tix from the Eventbrite app & we were in!One of the guys from the front walked us to the designated Yelp area. He told us that Yelp had the last 2 tables, makai. The tables were small and for standing. Maybe 6 of us could fit. It was on the balcony facing Ft. DeRussey, but one level below the DJ and the dance floor. Maybe it was just me, but I felt like we were being isolated. After being situated, we went to get our free photo at the photo booth. There were problems with the booth, but it didn't really bother me because I was just here for the ride! There were little signs for us to hold to make the picture more personalized. You got a hard copy & the option to email it to yourself. We ran into Darin O. & dragged him to our table. We were discussing if we could go up to the main level to hang out or if we would be asked to go back to 'our area.' We walked around to find where to buy the drinks. We found it! We ordered 2 sodas and one juice. It came out to $16! Um? There was no alcohol. Maybe I'm just naive, but I think that is a little expensive considering half that drink cup was full of ice.Going back to the emails I received, one of them said to come hungry because they had food. There were sliders, shrimp, sushi, all for $10 each. I thought that might be ok, considering it was an event held at a hotel. I ordered one of each and was very disappointed to the size of the food. I was NOT expecting a huge plate, but it was more like snacks. The Pumpkin Spice Gelato ($5) was pretty tasty, so that I was fine with! While hanging out, we did have an awesome seat for the Hilton Fireworks! It was so cool to see it with my Yelp buddies!Around 8:30 pm, we got brave to go up to the upper level to dance. The music being played was a little strange, more dub step. Terry H. was getting his groove on, so I figured it would be safe for me to go and dance. Kehau, Darrin, Amy, Traci, Rachel, Byron all hung out by the pool. It was much cooler (temperature wise). The place wasn't too crowded yet. But alas, the call of real food was too demanding. So a group of us decided to go someplace to get our grub on.Overall impression, it was nice to see how an event like this was put together. I did make lots of new friends, even some who weren't Yelpers. But, when I saw how much some people had paid to get into the event, I think I was expecting more for the money. I was lucky that Yelp gave me the opportunity to see what it was like for just a night!

I know many are going to look at the review stars and ask- "why Darin 5 stars?"If it was a UYE this would have been the perfect no-host/ no have to do anything to organize the UYE UYE. At this event- I did meet so many Yelpers and it seemed that we helped each other out more than any other normal party- which was the highlight of the event for me.We get our info emails (fyi you know something is up when they say givernment), in it includes info like:"DRESS CODE: Costume is highly recommended (no face paint for security), there is no color theme. if no costume, standard Dress to Impress LUX Dress Code is enforced by Security. Gents: Dress Collared Shirt, Dress Slacks (NO DENIM) and Dress shoes (no slippers, sneakers, etc. of any kind). Ladies: dress to impress.AGE: must be at least 21 years old tonight with givernment issued identification, no exceptions."So- OKNO face paint, denim, slippers or tennis shoes- you just eliminated 99% of all the costume ideas I could pull off or have.So I go with black shoes and slacks, Yellow color dress shirt and Charlie Brown Where is the Great Pumpkin tie. It starts at 7 and I get there 5 min til- just to see the line, which turns out to be about what looks like 5 people in line ahead of me. No rush at all, it must then be one of those fashionably late kind of parties that the cool kids come to later in the night (yes they were right).I thought I was in like behind a bad costume guy of a sick person in a hospital- no he takes and asks for my tickets. He was super friendly, and I thought too that the evening would turn up bright with his organization and helpfulness too. He said that he had 3 round tables by the lanai reserved for all the Yelpers and showed me where to go. I thought that was nice though.Inside - first thing is a photo booth. A really nice touch.I see a fellow Yelper- Yeah!!!!We hang out at the 'reserved table' but there is no sign 'reserved' there is no place holder like Yelp- or any other way to know. There was plenty of security in general and attention to details on some of the other things but not on this. But again- ok.There was food available- no host like the last email said. I too had thought I heard other things but knew that things could change.October Lux Menu Assorted Maki Sushi California Roll and Spicy Ahi Roll - 2pc ea/ $10Kalua Pig Sliders Guava BBQ Sauce, Firecracker Aioli, Coleslaw - 2pc/$10Grilled Shrimp TostadaMango Salsa, Avocado Crème Fraiche - 2pc/$10Pumpkin Spice Gelato - $5 If I can give an opinion- Sushi was tiny and not tasty at all- all I could really taste for sure was the rice- it was too small. Kalua Pig Sliders were sweet, heavy on the cabbage slaw but tasty. The shrimp had a tail still attached- which turns me off on something that I may eat infront of others - especially when wearing a costume- but had a chutney good taste to it- the cracker though got to be soggy from it.What is really worth it- is the Pumpkin Spice - had all the high note flavors. The taste- and it was a taste was a good one- maybe they bought it special order from someplace like Mr. Green Tea for the holidays or maybe they even handmade it- cause it had flavor for sure! Let's dance the night away to DJ Annalog and DJ Dana Kruse!!! I had thought Roxy On The Mic would be MC there too- but maybe it changed too. At the beginning of the night set- the songs were recognizable, but played more as background music at a bar- not the stage it was on, it was too low. NO ONE was really dancing. Then the music got more dub stepish, as we Yelpers were talking- there was one song, I recognized it as LMAO party people but the Beat never dropped- and neither did the words. So it wasn't fun to dance to really.A group of us did go out on the dance floor- but the music didn't sit very well with the mood or feel or group that was there- and many people just got in lines at the bars and the floor was- well- 'dead.' I would have danced all night as I love dancing. But 60~70 year old women kept coming up to me after many of the other Yelpers decided to go to diner and that killed it for me. I did 1 last look around to just see if Emi or Roxy OTM would be there and then try to get home safely. Was it a 5 star night, no, but it could have been. The place is beautiful- like being able to have a great view of fireworks. But really - a group is needed to make an evening like this fun. Next time- hopefully we can have a group group that knows they are planning as a group to go together- then I can see it more fun.

This was my first event at the Trump Tower and also my first Luxe event thanks to Yelp Hawaii! i was really happy to score tickets for me and my +1 for this event and I was looking forward to having a good evening. First impressions: We arrived really early (a little after 7:15pm) and being our first time here at the Trump, I actually had no idea where the Luxe was in the hotel. No signs posted in the valet/lobby area, no directions on where to go in my emails. I was about to ask the concierge for directions until a bellman came up and asked us if we were there for the party and directed us into the elevator to the lobby area on a higher level. When we got to the entrance we were welcomed and checked in quickly. There was a photo booth set up near the entryway which looked very fun and inviting. There is a narrow hallway leading to the main area where you're invited to an open-aired space with beautiful views of the Waikiki skyline, and a pool near the edge of the balcony. I'm a little happy that we arrived earlier than most because it gave us a chance to really explore this beautiful space, as well as figure out where the bars, restrooms, and food ordering areas were located. And we also had a front row seat to the Hilton fireworks show that always takes place on Fridays around 7:45pm. I wouldn't classify this space as a nightclub as much as I would call it a hotel bar/event space. I wonder what the capacity is for a space like this? Because it's outdoors and the layout is not as spacious because the pool area takes up about a third of the area, there are only three areas where you can really "hang out": near the entrance side, in the middle near the DJ/dance floor, or on the other side near the food station and second bar. The small bar near the entrance is cash only, so if you want to pay with card or open a tab you have to go to the second larger bar on the other side. FYI, drink lines start to get long around 9pm and there were only 2 bartenders and 1 guy helping close tabs. Drinks are pricey, but it's expected at a hotel like this. There wasn't very much seating available here that i noticed. The couches near the DJ were all reserved for bottle service and on the other side near the second bar I saw 5 bar stools set up on the side. I wasn't expecting to be standing all 2 1/2 hrs I was here in my heels so I found a spot on the ledge of one of the big pillars near the pool area where we sat for a while and sipped our drinks and looked at all the creative costumes come through. Unfortunately we didn't have time to put together a costume for this event, but it was a lot of fun seeing people's unique costumes as everyone began to trickle in throughout the night. We couldn't stay for the costume contest at 10:30pm since my +1 had to work early the next morning, so we left just as more people began coming in large groups. I'm not sure if I would go to another Yelloween party here again unless there will be more activities happening throughout the evening. The DJ's didn't announce anything, the vibe was a little odd, and I suppose I was hoping for this party to have a little more going on in order to get everyone more interested in staying.
