Mirroring other sentiments in the 1 star reviews - I used to love Tori Ton, but this last visit was a complete disappointment. As mentioned by other commenters- they absolutely discriminate here. If you're not Japanese, you might as well not bother coming in. I can't recommend or continue frequenting a spot that's racist. Also, if you see there are wannabe famous instagram food influencers at a table, don't be surprised if they ignore you and cater to them. The place was busy and loud, both of which I don't mind and I expect from an izakaya. At least when a place is busy, it often signals quality or great taste. We had to consistently ask our server for water. When I asked for a pitcher of water for the table because they were slow to refill ours, they just gave me a bigger cup, which doesn't help if you continue to ignore the need to refill it. We had to flag down our server to put in new orders, which is wild because I thought this was a business that wanted customers' money? They gave our tsukune skewers to another table and didn't even realize we were still waiting for our order. If we didn't tell the server to take that off our bill we would've paid for something we never got. Portions are getting smaller and smaller since they opened a few years ago, fresh out of the COVID lockdown when they were a relatively unknown spot and vibes were high. This last visit, the suntory whiskey highball was the only thing I really thought was yummy, which is sad. Overall, terrible experience, onto the next izakaya!

One of my favorite izakaya places because the food here is so good. It's a place where I can bring friends and family and I can rely on Tori Ton to wow them. I love that they have a variety of types of food and drinks on the menu. I've been here a few times and there's still more to try. The prices are also reasonable so I'm able to enjoy and not feel guilty about spending a ton of money. The restaurant is quite cramped with tables very close to each other and somehow it feels homey and not overcrowded. The servers are friendly but because of how busy it is, service is on the slower side. However, izakaya places are meant to be a bonding time with people anyway. Just don't expect to have a quick in and out if you're eating here right before tight time reservations for something right afterwards. It's best to make reservations here in advance as this restaurant is very popular. Highly recommend for your izakaya cravings!

Overall I thought it was a decent izakaya, but not the best I've ever had. -calamari: the squid was veryyyy tough. Felt like I was eating fried rubber. -chicken meatballs (tsukune): not the best. the meatball was tough ground chicken and not very tender... -agedashi tofu: not bad but not great. I think it would've been better topped with bonito flakes. -pork belly skewers: overall pretty good, probably the best thing on the menu. -seared mackerel: it was okay. Not sure if the temperature was intentionally room, would've been better if it was more warm. Also could do with a lemon wedge. Service was friendly and attentive, but based on the food alone I wouldn't come back for it.

Food here is delicious, comes out quick and there are so many unique menu items! Generally not a fan of egg/potato salad but this place does it right!!! Love the sour drinks here and the service is great!

Tori Ton is a hidden gem in Honolulu that brings a slice of Japan right to your plate (and your glass!). From the moment you step in, the cozy interior transports you straight to an authentic Izakaya, complete with warm lighting, rustic wood accents, and filled with happy diners enjoying the vibe. The food is Oishi! Our top picks of the night were the Washugyu beef skewer--juicy, tender, and perfectly seasoned--and the Iberian pork skewer, which had this melt-in-your-mouth quality that I'm still daydreaming about. Their menu is packed with small plates perfect for sharing, and the variety of alcohol--sake, shochu, beers--means there's something for everyone. It's an ideal spot for unwinding with friends while sampling delicious bites. The skewers do take a bit of time to prepare (30 minutes) and they give you ample warning but it's a great opportunity to sip on your frosty biru, enjoy a quality sake, or just relax and soak up the atmosphere. Order up other menu items while you wait, the potato salad is amazing and I enjoyed pairing the seared cod roe with the TKG which is a fresh raw egg over a bowl of hot steamy premium rice. Tori Ton is a great spot for anyone craving an authentic Izakaya experience without the plane ticket to Tokyo. We'll definitely be back for more skewers and good times!

The husband made reservations at Tori-Ton for dinner and everything was delicious! After looking over the menu, we ordered several items including the Seared Mackerel Sashimi, Kamameshi with Cod Roe, Mochi Cheese, Quail Eggs, Gizzards and Chicken Skin, and few other items. Food came out in a timely manner and everything tasted well; my favorites included the mochi and quail eggs.Staff was friendly and service was good. Atmosphere is lively and loud, so if you're looking for more a quiet dining experience, this won't be it. Overall, I had a great time and look forward to returning!

Delicious but be sure to have a reservation because it can be quite a bit busy! Skewers are a nice way to allow everyone to pick and choose their selections, but can feel like it's in the spendy side. My notable favorite was the skewers with eggs and mochi! Least favorite were probably their classic bigger skewers.Nice and dim lighting location, again get yourself a reservation because it is a bit small!

While it is not a huge location, Tori Ton is visible on King Street with a parking lot directly attached to it. There is limited seating inside and outside so reservations are always safest. This izakaya is quick and the employees are efficient. The inside is quaint and intimate, as you can be pretty close to the people around you. There is a good selection of food, mainly meats. We ordered the chicken karaage, chicken thigh, pork belly, pork wrapped premium rice, tsukune skewer, wagyu, salmon with ikura kamameshi, eel with ikura kamameshi, pork wrapped asparagus, and matcha warabi mochi. Everything was really tasty and our favorites were the eel, karaage, and wagyu. It was fun to try everything and super filling. There is also a drinks selection with a variety of sake available.
