I enjoyed breakfast so much at La Vie that my wife scheduled a date night for their special 3 course meal. I understand the menu changes based on the quality of local ingredients available to them on any given week. Only the highest quality is acceptable to be served at La Vie. The kitchen may be French inspired but they reflect flavors that are unique to them. We started with the chilled Lobster Cocktail. The lobster was fresh, sweet and addictive paired with their French Louis Sauce. For the next course I picked the Maui Venison Tartare crowned with shaved foie gras, Berbere spices and a sweet potato chip. Even though I went out of my comfort zone ordering this course I was hooked at first bite. I put a bit of the venison tartare on the sweet potato chip and it created a unique taste experience for me that I will crave until I have it again. My wife chose the Pumpkin Spatzele. She was as impressed with her choice as I was with mine. For my main course I ordered the J. Ludovico Chicken and she ordered Grilled Steak Frites. Since I felt my Tartare was super rich in flavor and texture I thought the chicken would be a nice counter to that. I was not wrong. I had to hesitate from licking the plate not wanting to deny myself the pleasure I was experiencing. My wife ordered the grilled Steak Frites hoping it compared favorably to her memories of enjoying this preparation in Paris. The smile on her face at her first bite told me all I.needed to know. While the food was a major highlight of our La Vie experience what sent it over the top was the service provided to us my Kaile and Mika. From the moment Kaile handed me my menu, personalized with Happy Birthday Greg, to the desert finale of Basque Cheesecake and the Gateau Isphan we felt as if we were the only ones in the restaurant. Service was impeccable, timely and they were personable. They added so much to our favorable impression of the restaurant and the Ritz Carlton experience. We will be back.

Recently changed from La Vie to The Terrace and still discovering their way...Not quite sure if it is more of a pool or terrace bar, or a bit of fine dining. More of an upscale "barish" feel, but with nice live piano music, open air dining. Menu was limited with 4 Mains, about the same number of appetizers, desserts and small plates. Wine and drink list was on the back side of a 1 page menu. All in all, a so-so experience. Food was WIP with the new incoming chef. Service was good. However the food took a while to arrive.Steak was on the chewey side, but nicely seasoned. Kampachi went well with the kabocha and lentils, but on the salty side. Shrimp cocktail was A-okay. Caviar was okay, but the accompanying spread overpowered the taste on the blini. Pass on the Kulolo Crunch - a bit bland, so eat it with the ice cream! This place recently changed name and chef from the LA Vie to The Terrace last week, and is still in the process of making this transition.

If you're looking for a nice date night or special occasion restaurant, La Vie might be for you. It is located in the Ritz Carlton Waikiki and is an open air restaurant - so if it's a warm time of the year and you love air conditioning, this might not be for you. The view from the restaurant is fantastic!La Vie offers a pre fixe menu only. There are a few add ons and upgrades. I particularly enjoyed the smoked kanpachi entree I had.The Ritz Carlton is valet only.

Formerly La Vie, we enjoyed the new menu The sea food tower with caviar, extra lobster, crab salad & jumbo shrimp was fresh & plentiful while the wagyu was buttery rich. The rasberry gateaux was delish & refreshing.Mahalo!

Loved the seafood and the view. It was expensive but definitely worth it. Service was attentive but not obnoxious. I highly recommend it.

Loved my experience dining at La Vie for dinner! 5 stars for the 3-course menu. I've been to La Vie for brunch before and I thought it was good, but dinner is even better. The view at sunset is spectacular and the ambience with the live piano music (beginning at 6:30) sets the scene for an unforgettable night. The 3-course menu for $85 is well worth the price. To start, I ordered the corn risotto with truffles. The appetizer honestly could have been my main entree, I was surprised by the portion size! Usually at fine dining restaurants, portions are on the smaller side. For my main, I ordered the smoked Kona Kanpachi and my fish was perfectly cooked. I also loved the potato galette on the side. To end, I ordered the Kulolo crunch, but I actually preferred my boyfriend's dessert (gateau isaphan). What a perfect night! :)

Always a sought after place for a nice night out. I'd definitely recommend coming later because you wouldn't have to fight the sun, since it's out to get you by either blasting you in your eyes or cooking your date. The sun is no joke and it's brutal just like what mars would feel like. Regardless a great place to go for a different experience. They always change what their menu is and have the best customer service.

Ambiance hands down is amazing. The service is fantastic. And conceptually, the food is appealing. However, the evening we attended, the food execution was just off. Some of the dishes lacked flavor. That said, the things we enjoyed were the grougeres, frog legs, lobster claw app, and the special pumpkin mochi bar made for Thanksgiving.

Ambiance great, food was outstanding. Went with prix fixe with upgrades. 5 stars for them going way above and beyond for a small hiccup. Valentine's Day is hectic but the service was fantastic. Will 100% be back.

The $85 pre fixe menu is worth it. If you want a la carte you can sit at the bar but dining room is reserved for pre fixe. Three course are delicious and generous portions. I went with the tuna, kanpachi and basque cheesecake. Outdoor ambiance with a nice view. Manhattan was delicious the scotch and sake cocktail not quite for me. Impeccable service as you expect from the Ritz. Grant the piano player is a legend. Plays classics and tosses in Radiohead.
