The Republik

I've been coming to The Republik for eight years now, and have never had a bad time. From dubstep, to reggae, to indie-rock, every show has been a blast.The security is no-nonsense, yet still remains courteous, and the bartenders are always super speedy and efficient, regardless of how busy it gets. The drinks are nice and strong, too, which will please those who like to watch a show intoxicated.I love the set up here, too, where there's a lounge area located away from the stage that makes it easy to rest or relax if you get overheated or whatnot.Honestly, I'm surprised by the divisiveness, but reading a lot of reviews, it seems that most of the negative reviews are from salty patrons who got too big for their britches and were doing things they shouldn't have been doing...Like I've said, been coming here for nearly a decade and always had a good time.

Went to The Republik because they were apparently having an After Party after the Kaskade show at the Waikiki Shell. As a visitor, I didn't know much else going on after the show and thought this was much more of an official after party than it was... they didn't even spell Kaskade's name right on their flyer LOL. The line took forever to get in and security seemed to be picking and choosing who got in and who didn't... once inside the music was horrible lol. I don't really know much about Hawaii's edm scene (mostly just heard it's pretty inexistant) but boy that was a mess. The djs were playing all sorts of random mixes in all sorts of weird genres that did not go together. The crowd seemed super immature and all over the place. Being from SF, we are lucky to have such a deep electronic music scene that every sub genre has its own specific place in SF. If you want techno, house, dubstep, riddim, whatever it is... there's a place and crowd for that specific sub-sub-sub-sub genre so you're really there with the vibes you want and the crowd you love. You could tell immediately that Honolulu does not have that and therefore this was just the place to go to listen to any edm that comes up. Big yikes.... so so so many amazing things about honolulu..... but great electronic music scene is not one of them!

Super unfortunate the Republik seems to get most of the shows worth going to on Oahu because this place is terrible. My most recent shows being Still Woozy and Strfkr the following day. I've been going here for 10 years and it's the same thing every time. To say security is aggressive is an understatement. From the time you walk up the stairs until they're pushing you out of the venue and back down the stairs. You start by getting felt up in line from head to toe because apparently their little fairy wands aren't enough to find what they are looking for. You better not leave a quarter in your pocket or you'll get yelled out for not following orders from the Gestapo. They oversell the venue so you're packed in there like sardines and security will manhandle their way through the crowd shoving their way through to get to the next victim. Usually it's just some teenager vaping. Yet they don't mind shoving you and your girlfriend to get to the villainous vaper. Oh and they have the brightest flashlights made by the sun god Ra himself that will leave you blind for a minute after so enjoy that while trying to watch a show. There's food available but I'm not about to give them another dollar I don't have too. It's sad because this place could be a lot of fun. They have big names coming in but every time I see it's here I have to really think how bad do I really want to see this artist. But they don't care. Where else are you going to go? Unfortunately this is where the talent is. Security needs to chill. We are here to enjoy our evening. The vast majority of attendees aren't violent criminals so please don't treat us like you're herding us into prison.

Has an amazing time at the Republik - Seven Sons concert , venue was clean and drinks were good .

I definitely encourage everyone to read the reviews. We arrived around 9:45 for a 10:00 PM show. The security told us to stand along the ramp because they were cleaning from the first show. You could tell some of the security staff took their job really seriously (and not in a good way). I read the previous reviews so I complied with all of their rules. I did not want to get kicked out nor did I want to get denied entry. I did not want to waste money since we pre-bought our tickets.Around 10:15 they told us to stand at the front door. This was an 18+ event, EDM DJ sets. You can take in a regular bag. I had my ID out and ready to go. I had a small bag. It was briefly looked through at the door. Another person scanned our tickets, and just like that, we were IN. The place is BIG. The air conditioner was working great. We snagged a table in the back area, where the back bar is. A few tables had "reserved" on them although no one sat at them all night except the security guards. No review of the food. The bartender said that the kitchen is only open for earlier shows. Looks like they had pizza, burgers, and something else on the menu. All of the bartenders we interacted with were super nice. Nice pour, not too much, not too little. We were overly cautious with our drink consumption because previous reviewers said they got roofied here. And, there was a guy who threw up all over the guy's bathroom. So we had to keep our thinking caps on. I dropped a few things out of my little teenie tiny purse- went back the next day and was able to recover my ID. My little portable charger didn't make it home, but I'll take the ID over anything. It is in Ala Moana's parking lot. And, there is another "club" downstairs from this one. I think it is called the District. Overall, it was a good time. They pushed us all out around 1:30 ish AM. I was good with that. With the security, you could tell some of them were just jerks. But, we just followed the rules- stayed out of their way- and enjoyed ourselves.

First concert at Rebublik was good. I was 30 min late and the place was packed! Doors open at 8pm so if u wanna be up near stage get there early! 2nd concert I was actually on time and the security lady at entrance was super cool. Honestly, the drinks were overpriced (I got 2), but great bartenders. Ohmigosh, THE BATHROOM! There's a lady who pumps soap for the ladies and gives u a paper towel. She has a little corner on the sink with goodies (mints ect). Haha. I was like "damn, this was worth the $80 ticket. This place is good for concerts but it does get packed!

We saw 311 play two shows here in January 2023. I was a bit leery after reading some of the online reviews. Especially the reviews about the bathrooms, because I'm someone who is gonna need to use the commode. Turns out the bathrooms are fine, no problems. Security staff was easygoing on the two nights we were there. The sound was good. No problems to report.

Came through as a last minute plan for Emo Night Loved the ambiance when I first arrived... everything in black and dripping in chandeliers. The whole night reminded me of my high school playlist. Good times all around. Bartenders were dope AF, don't forget to tip generously because they work super hard. The one thing that leaves a lot to be desired are the bathrooms. The women's restrooms were disgusting. Truly awful. Sticky and wet patches and smelly. Please get someone in to clean it regularly THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT... not just at the beginning and ending. Your patrons deserve better. And while you're at it, better cooling/ventilation wouldn't hurt either... the area ld the dance floor leading to the women's restrooms smelled badly of BO. I shudder to imagine what the men's restrooms smelled like.

Venue was fine, but they serve the worst pizza Ive ever had in my life. It was so bad. One male bartender was SUPER rude while trying to order the pizza. He threw my cash down at the bar, demanding i face my cash bills in the same direction for him "because it's bar etiquette". I told him i had never heard that before...and he acted as if it were a well known fact and demanded that i straighten them. He would not accept the money without me doing that. It was $19 in fives and ones split between my friend and i...He was awful. I ended up taking the money back and walked away. I had just ordered a drink from another bartender without facing my bills, and she was perfectly fine with however i gave her the money. Super weird behavior. The show i went to was fun though. The service from their staff just sucks.

First and last emo nite. Everything was fine up until the mosh pit where I lost my costume props. Tried asking security if they have seen it. When I tried re-entering the venue with my wrist band the security guard was incredibly rude to me at the re-entry door since I've never been there before, I wasn't sure where I was supposed to re-enter and when I asked him for the lost and found box he didn't seem to really care helping me find my missing items and when I tried looking in the lost and found box just to double check, he started insulting me and cursing at me telling me not to to that which I can understand if maybe he had just spoke to me professionally telling me I wasn't allowed to do that. I lost some very expensive items and just wanted to get them back and the security guard made me feel very unwelcome and even cursed at me. I don't think I'll ever come back.
