The Pantry, a targeted foodbank helping to feed those that are greatest in need in Hawaii. Today I had the privilege of volunteering a bit of my time at the Pantry while becoming better educated. The Pantry operates on an order based system therefore reducing waste in the food they give out to their customer base by only giving what is wanted. I had long wondered what criteria was used to determine who would receive this benefit. The organization is very clear that those that qualify and receive food distribution are those that are way below the poverty line. Compassion for those needing it the most.According to the Guardian, these difficult times for many has seen an increase in demand of food assistance by as much as eightfold! About one in three people seeking groceries at not-for-profit pantries have never previously needed emergency food aid. Want to see if you qualify and apply for benefits? Go to their website. Want to volunteer your time? Go to their website. Want to donate funds to this well worth non profit organization? Go to their website at: https://thepantry.orgThank you Pantry for meeting the needs of so many in our community.

The Staff & Volunteers at The Pantry are so friendly and helpful. They provided me food so I could feed my family since my husband was laid off because of COVID-19. I want to Thank them for all that they do to help us to feed our families during this time of need. If you need help feeling your family this place is one resource that worth seeking help from. You can Register and shop from the list of foods they have available and then go pick it up on the day that is on their schedule. It goes by the day you place your order in and make sure when you pick up your order you have your order number. Masks are Required for Service and they direct you where to go. It is a drive up food distribution so you just pop your trunk. Place your order number on your dashboard.

My wife and I were in need of food and thought of the pantry to help us. Our order of food items seems were greatly needed. We arranged transportation to pickup and all was good til we git there and found out our desperately needed food was given away to another person an hour before we arrived. The explanation was a mistake was made so live with it and wait next week. We were punished and left depressed and sadden by the lack of groceries we spent time to select and a nightmare after going without . The Pantry too big to care about us and our hunger. If a replacement order was given perhaps we may have felt better but it not available from the management of the pantry. So sad of the lack of compassion for us from the Pantry.

Nicest hard working people, and they do most of it, if not all of it voluntarily to help feed people.

I live on Meyers St. and for the past 5 years every Wednesday & Friday between 9am to 1pm our neighborhood is under seige by those waiting to go to the Food Pantry. It's a ridiculous situation since the line up of cars block all the residents who live on Meyers St. The people waiting could care less and some refuse to move to let you out when driving my car. I've written a suggestion to the management of the Pantry suggesting that they allocate pickup times for those who place weekly orders since they are open from 10am to 2pm. Usually after 12 noon the line diminishes. It's not fair to the residents now going on 5 years of dealing with the rude waiting for free food. I once signed up to see if I qualify for free food but I did not qualify even if I'm retired and have to work at age 71 so I can suvive.
