Now here's a shocker. Jamie W and I had good food at an airport. Now here's the predictable part. We kinda paid through the nose. We were leaving Honolulu and found ourselves with extra time on our hands. Avoiding the inevitable fast food options, we came into this surprisingly expansive place. We ended up ordering the same plate, the $26.99 Kalua Pork & Cabbage. With a scoop of rice, it was actually good even though they skimped on the macaroni salad (photo: https://yelp.to/vwVg23AjpI). The exorbitant price tag was what we expected at the airport. So was the indifferent service. Time to go to the gate.FOOD - 4 stars...somebody was doing their job in the kitchenAMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...retro-vintage vibe but spaciousSERVICE - 3 stars...passing throughTOTAL - 4 stars...finding something tasty was a score but expect major kachingRELATED - Exploring Hawaii? Honestly didn't expect such a GOOD meal at the airport. Banana pancakes are my go to in the islands and they didn't disappoint. Had a Bloody Mary as well, a lil pricey but hit the spot. Our server was hard pressed but took care of us and checked back in a timely manner. They understaff, it appears, but it's an airport restaurant....Beautiful garden adjacent so the view was outstanding vs other airports I've been to. Bar seating just as good as table.

The service was pretty good. Intil she loterally stole from us.The food was quick and good. But based on the dishonesty of this restaurant, and the bartender, please beware and I'd never go backWe ordered a nacho, a hamburger and 2 short bloody marys. Our bill was 99.00When looking at the breakdown, they charged us 50.00 for 2, short bloody marys. On the ticket breakdown, she upgraded us to Tito vodka (without asking) , we had no idea, and tjen she charged us for doubles. And we watched her make our drinks they werent doubles and we didn't order doubles!(sidenote: I'm a current bartender and have bartender for 19 years) to do this us unethical and actually illegal in my home state, it's literally stealing. When we asked her about our receipt and the charges shw added, she said "thats how we do it"So in short, the bartender and the restaurant absolutely stole from us. I'll attach my receipt.Don't give them your business, this is a terrible thing to do to tourists and leaves us with a nasty taste in our mouths at the end of our Hawaii trip

Good place to eat and kill time before your flight. Burger was good.and there was plenty of fries. It wasn't busy, because of Christmas, and our waitress, Candace was great! I'd rather spend more eating here than getting burger king...

If you find yourself at the airport at lunch time, this is probably your best option, since the food court is pretty sad. We were seated very quickly and service was ok, you order via app with a QR code at the table. The food took a while to arrive, luckily we had time, but if you're short on time maybe make sure it's not too busy. We got a burger, fish and chips and the loco moco, everything was very good.

For an airport restaurant - I give a thumbs up. The Mahi Mahi tacos were really good, and not to heavy. Good sauce and salsa on them. The Chicken pineapple quesadilla was fantastic. I got a bite or two, my wife gobbled it up. The lillikoi cheesecake was bomb! So good. Our server Jeannie was friendly, andvsuoer hard working.Well come back next time we have a layover here.

Airport hunger...Once we get through the crowds of checkin and the torturous settings at the TSA check points and security you're free to wander your hearts desire of the airport and there not much choice to be honest and decided to give The Local a look...Rustic Market to be precise.Located right outside of TSA 3 which is basically in the middle of the airport I noticed an unmanned area and it is exactly what it is a place that's all grab and go of snacks and drinks, just scan pay and go which is super cool and interesting though I didn't really see prices anywhere and didn't want to browse as I basically had no intention to buy and pay airport prices.Cool yet strange concept I assume for folks who don't want to deal with the long lines in the shops and restaurants.Thank you!

I finally decided to check out The Local. It is a restaurant inside the Daniel K Inouye International Airport, just past TSA security. I wanted to chill before my flight out to DEN from HNL, so dinner at the airport with 2 beers should suffice. It ended up with good service but a hefty price tag.I usually try to find food options outside the airport, but this time around, I just found some solace here at The Local. The place wasn't crowded at all on a Wednesday evening around 6pm. After getting thru TSA security with my TSA Pre Check, I looked for a meal when I stumbled upon The Local. I was like, sure why not. I wanted a beer anyways, but as it turns out, this place can be very pricy when you don't expect it. For the most part though, it was a nice place to hang out and have dinner and a couple of beers. The restaurant was fairly clean and the ambiance was fairly quiet and smooth. I found a booth in the middle of the room and was serviced promptly. I started off with a beer and then ordered dinner, which basically was a burger and fries. I was shocked that the burger cost $20, but I guess it was the airport after all. I had another beer and called it after that. I was shocked at how expensive a decent burger can be. My check came out to around $50 ish and I guess its okay. I was certainly surprised, but again, it was the airport and prices are generally above than outside of the airport. My experience here at The Local took about 1 1/2 hours here. After lounging around after drinking my 2nd beer, I headed out of The Local and towards my departure gate, which was A3. The overall experience at The Local was good and nice. I enjoyed the ambiance way more than the food or drink itself. The service was good and friendly enough. Could have been improved but it was good enough. The burger was pretty good and the fries were fresh out of the fryer. I enjoyed the crispy aspect of that. I sat in a booth, which was comfortable. I had a Guiness as my 1st beer and a Stella for my section one. Both were refreshing and definitely hit the right notes on many levels, since I was officially on vacation and wanted to kick it off with dinner and beers before my flight out of Honolulu that night. While this place can be expensive, it's a good place to check out if you are trapped in the airport and wanting to find a bite to eat before your departure out of Honolulu. I'm just thankful that I didn't splurge further with dessert that evening. $50 is plenty already. And so, if you are the type who like trendy vibes and like a glass of booze before you fly or after you arrive, consider coming to The Local for food and drinks at the Honolulu international airport. The Local is located inside the Daniel K Inouye International Airport (HNL), after you pass the TSA security check point. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. Bring your appetite, since they do have a pretty good menu. It was limited, but a good menu. Mostly what you'd find elsewhere in restaurants and bars, but the quality is a little bit above average. However, not by much. The problem was that it can be expensive. For budget travelers, it is expensive, but what can you do. Once in a while is okay. Might be my last time, unless I come here for just drinks and not food during my travels. Still, The Local is decidedly okay and an option for those who enjoy the restaurant / bar type of flavor. The Local is patronized by the traveling public and those who work or do business with the airport itself. The airport has paid parking in nearby parking garages. If you are like me, bus 19 and 20 takes you directly into the departure terminal, whereas other routes like 40 and 43 travel along Nimitz Hwy and you'd have a walk to get to the terminal. No matter how you get here and craving local brews, consider coming here before your flight to enjoy what The Local has to offer.4.0 stars for the overall experience. 4.0 stars for the food and service, but 3.0 stars for the pricing.Support local!B

We wanted a sit down and rest experience vs. a food court and this worked. Not much ambiance, seat yourself and order/pay with QR code link. Thereafter a real human appears. The service was great and the food was surprisingly good. A variety of burgers and chicken Caesar salads. We left full and recharged for our trip home.
