The Imperial Resort in Waikiki is a nice hotel, but let's be clear--it's not a resort. If you're seeking a luxury experience with an amazing pool and top-notch amenities, the Sheraton Waikiki is a better choice. That said, the Imperial is ideal for longer stays, especially if you need kitchen amenities. The aloha service is welcoming, and some rooms offer lovely ocean views. However, the decor is extremely dated, which detracts from the overall experience. Additionally, the lack of a real restaurant or bar area is disappointing, and the pool is honestly one of the worst I've seen in Waikiki. If you're prioritizing convenience and practicality over luxury, this place works. Just know what to expect before booking.

I am writing this review of the "The Imperial Hawaii Resort" from the perspective of a timeshare owner who was able to book a one-week reservation via an "exchange". I mention this because I am sure you can book a hotel accommodation in this same facility.Based on some observable details, I believe the structure was designed / built in the 1960s. However, the facility as a whole is incredibly well maintained; and I am sure they follow a structured modernization / refresh schedule.Location :: The location of this resort is ideal. If you want to go to the beach, the resort is a short walk to Waikiki beach. If you want to eat or shop, the situs is adjacent to Beach Walk; Royal Hawaiian Center; and walkable to many other locations along Kalakaua Avenue.Parking ::The only parking option is valet parking, with unlimited in-out privileges. They have a daily rate, and a discount for a week. The valet desk is staffed 24 hrs. The attendants are friendly and act as quickly as possible--but there are occasional surges in activity that create back-ups.Registration :: The front desk is staffed 24 hrs. The registration process was fast and efficient. The staff was friendly, and at check in, they provided a very thorough orientation explaining housekeeping options, towel exchanges, replenishment of consumables, and sponsored activities on site.Room ::This resort has five different room options, with different floorplans. In my case, I got an "Ohia Suite". This is a studio unit with one bath--approximately 350 sq ft. Because it has a double Murphy (pull-down) bed and a queen sofa bed in the living room, it can sleep four people. The mini kitchen has a coffee maker, convection microwave, toaster and compact refrigerator.Housekeeping is doing a great job. I am sure that the rooms at this resort see a high occupancy rate. While the room decor is mildly dated, the room was clean and well maintained. The room had a small balcony with a table and two chairs. It had a nice ocean view, and some city view. The wi-fi, the TV, the A/C--all performed well. The building has a small rooftop swimming pool and gym. The laundry room has washers and dryers which accept coin or credit card.Personal opinion ~As mentioned, the room did not have a standard bed. It had a double Murphy pull down bed and a queen sofa pull out. When the Murphy bed was deployed, you couldn't open/close the bathroom door freely. For these reasons, I feel the room was small. But I'm not going to deduct from my overall rating. As a solo traveler, I use the room for sleeping and bathing. In this context, this particular floorplan was sufficient. I can see it being adequate for a couple. It would be cramp for a family of four. I wouldn't recommend it for four adults.

Do not go here if you are disabled person and especially if you are an American with disabilities and you have a service animal to help you with your disability. The manager is completely inhospitable and downright mean about service animals and with his behavior towards a disabled person. His gruff and and rude behavior towards me almost caused me to have an episode in relation to my disability. I am fortunate enough that I did not suffer an episode and did not have to call 911 due to the way he treated meBut I can tell you that that manager almost caused me to completely collapse due to his lack of discretion ( in the middle of the lobby on a very busy day) and his unprofessional treatment of a visitor to the hotel. It was also an extremely embarrassing situation for me and to my friend who was a guest of the hotel. It still traumatizes me when I think back about this frightful encounter.

Good location by beach. Clean room the Bar if you get a chance to visit it on a Friday night is a 10/10. Great view and reasonable pricing. The facility is pretty outdated and could use some TLC but the value was decent in regards to the location. Staff were friendly with exception to the lady in house keeping.

My expectations were on par with what I was expecting (first timer to HI here). Arrived 3 hrs early and room wasn't ready until an hr before check in time (4pm).Rooms are older but very clean and quiet. They're a cross between an apartment and a hotel. Views are amazing depending on which location you get and come with a small balcony. We had an issue with the kitchen sink backing up but maintenance quickly came when called upon. Valet parking is only available (35.00 daily) and no public parking close by that I could see. Parking attendants are very friendly and efficient though. If you can get by without a vehicle and staying within the area I'd highly recommend not renting a vehicle as congestion is a big issue in addition to heavy traffic.

I cannot say enough about our stay here.We had a lovely studio rental with a balcony. The resort is right on the corner of Lewers Street across from Roys. A very short walk to Waikiki Beach.I've seen other reviews saying the decor is dated. It's cozy, beachy, and very clean. We had a small kitchen and could buy groceries next door at ABC. We were within walking distance of shopping, dining, local attractions. We had a rental car but there are several local shuttles and tours that are accessible.Everyone was so very kind and helped make us feel welcome. The pool and sauna were very well maintained. We had access to the owners unit and were able to see fireworks and amazing sunsets. We will definitely be back to stay again. Mahalo for a great stay!

Perfect place when you're staying in Hawaii! Great for families with kids because it's close to everything, they have a kids pool, and you don't need a car! This is our go to spot to stay when visiting this island.

My partner and I stayed at the hotel during Thanksgiving week 2024 from 11/24 to 11/29. We did not order any room service or room cleaning, but someone had access to our room and stole $1,000 from my wallet. We called the police and filed a report, but the hotel did not offer to help. When we went to check out, they said that they would take out the trash even without asking. Absurd.
