Can't go wrong with a quick bite to eat at a Manapua truck . This particular truck is located on Queen Street. Believe it or not these Manapua trucks were popular way before lunch wagons or food trucks . They're cheap not like before although it's quick convenient and comfort food . Noodles, fried chicken , Manapua, pork hash , Chimichangas, rice cakes , spring rolls etc. Support local

Simplicity in the morning...I constantly pass this obvious gray truck quietly parked right along Mother Waldron Park in the early hours like a silent nudge for some early morning fuel to start my day...no sign...no service window its like a secret club grinds.Assuming he used to sell Managua sadly none is to be found here but what you'll find is a great assortment of budge friendly items like donuts, pork hash, musubi, chicken and fried noodles. As I approach for my selection a gentleman was a delight ordering two pork hash 2/$1, fried noodles $3 and chicken $2...all was $6! Parked along the park you're able to take advantage to an impromptu picnic though we all basically take it togo as I did to work and fueled my morning for a productive work flow lol! The noodles are plain no cabbage or any veggies not even green onions just some sliced char siu and it was a bit dry but satisfied a hungry appetite, and the pork hash was a tiny single bite size tease and the chicken is similar to a chicken fried steak as it's boneless coated with mochiko it was okay and I was just happy to have a budge friendly choice to start my day.Thank you!

Lunch from a food truck in Kaka'ako, Honolulu, Hawaii...Donna O. checks in at The Gray Manapua Truck on her Yelp app often. Curious, I stopped by to check it out.Located near the corner of Cooke Street and Halekauwila Street, this food truck was quite easy to find.I called out, "Hello!" and a guy popped up at the window. Service was efficient as he handed over my pork hash (2 for $1), spam Musubi, lumpia, cheese and ham manapua, and chicken. I paid cash and took my bag home.Everything was ok - a little on the sweet side. For example, the bread of the manapua, the pork, and the teriyaki sauce on the spam had a slightly sweet flavor. The chicken surprised me. I was happy that it was boneless! It seemed to have a mochiko layer on the outside while the chicken was moist and soft! Yay!If I was in the area again, I wouldn't mind getting a quick snack from this food truck!

It's a great place to get your breakfast. He's now on Cooke street near Halekuwila St. on the side of Mary Waldron Park between the hours of 6:30am -11:00am. After that he's at another location for a few more hours. If you don't see his truck he may be sick but usually he's always there on M-F. Only one time he was out for extensive time for a surgery. Customers are construction workers, workers and residents from the near by businesses and apartments. People come from all over since his prices are so reasonable! My co-worker first told me about this Manapua truck. At first you couldn't tell if it was a food truck or a parked truck since he had no sign and look run down. It was parked on Halekuwila St and I saw some people walking away with the food containers and I was thinking there it is!!! food! Now he has a new grey lunch truck but still with no name or sign on the lunch truck. The company's name is on his State of Hawaii Dept of Health green food placard. Most customers get his $2 noodles! It's simple (baked?) noodles with char siu and green onion on top! It's probably his best seller and my co-workers like it too!! Everything is so reasonable like his 3/$1 Pork hash (small) and spring rolls for a $1. I sometimes get the small boneless chicken for a little over a $1, deep-fried burrito, $.75 water and of course manapua, hot dog or ham/cheese bun. If you want something sweet, he has twisted donuts and variety of drinks. Just make sure you bring cash since it's a cash only business but you can get a lot for your buck!

I found another Manapua Man - that also does not sell Manapua LOLThe Gray Manapua Truck can be found parked at Mother Waldron's Park Monday - Friday in the morning. Prices are very reasonable and he has a rather extensive variety of hot foods. In fact, I didn't see any candy which is what most Manapua Trucks are filled with. The Pork Hash was more dough wrap than filling but at 3 for $1 can you complain?Support Manapua trucks so they don't go extinct! I'm glad to know I have one of these rarities nearby, still surviving in the ever changing Kakaako.

Growing up during my days on the Westside, there was only one thing on my mind when I was in High School. What was I gonna eat at The Manapua Trucks with what little money I had. Manapua Trucks were here long before the Food Truck Craze and it was like Christmas for me with all the food, drinks, and sweets that were available all in one place. Well after moving to Mililani Mauka, there were no Manapua Trucks for literally miles and that made me very sad because these kind of meals were not only dirt cheap but left a lasting impression as well. Well as luck would have it, I was looking around for a place to eat around the Kakaako area and i was going around in circles and then I came across this huge gray truck which had a long line of people waiting to order and then I knew right there and then that this must be a popular Food Truck. Then after taking one peek into the Food Truck, my eyes lit up like the Friday Night Fireworks at the Hilton. It was a Manapua Truck and all of my favorites that I used to eat growing up were available. From the infamous Fried Noodles to the Pork Hash and Fried Chicken and even Chimichunga's...What? YES Chimichunga's and Donut Twists and so much more. And the Asian Man selling these goodies is so friendly too. Talk about eating on the cheap, I ordered Fried Noodles,Three Pork Hash, Two pieces of Fried Chicken and a Coke for )6.25. Talk about Balling on a Budget. I was one happy camper. But here's the deal. He is only parked there from 7:30 to 11:30 Monday thru Friday if I'm not mistaken and it's not set in stone, but anytime I have a lunch shift where I work, I am always there for my childhood treat on the cheap. So if you are in the Kakaako area, be on the lookout for this truck. It's parked out on the corner of Queen where the square park is where the UFC Gym and Lex Brodie's are located. I am so happy to re live my childhood memories once again....
