There's really no hotels on the north shore of Oahu, which is nice because it preserves the natural-ness of the place (unlike Waikiki), but it's also difficult to find a place to stay. But... problem solved! The Estates at Turtle Bay is a series of condos on the northern tip of the island (on Kuilima Dr.), next to the Kuilima Golf Course. Each unit is owned individually, but managed by a company located at 56-565 Kamehameha Highway in Kahuku --- just five minutes down the road. All communications go through this office.Through the Estates at Turtle Bay website http://turtlebay-rentals.com/ you are able to view each individual unit, see how they are priced, and take your pick on the unit depending on the availability for the dates you picked. Because the price is determined by each individual owner of the condo, potentially you could see two condos of equal quality but stay at one for much cheaper than the other. Sometimes the "cleaning fee" set by the owner could also make what would've been a good deal a not so good one. So be careful about the extra fees before you book it. For example, our unit was priced at $95 a night, and we stayed for two nights = $190. But after the cleaning fee of $115!!! and taxes, the total was $327.73 for two nights. However, I love the idea that you can choose which unit you get to stay in. Every unit is decorated differently depending on the owner's taste, but they do provide a sufficient number of pictures on the website so you can see what the condition of the condo is. The one we picked turned out to be much better than expected! The place was newly renovated with a marble-counter kitchen, which was fully stocked with everything you need to cook for yourself (not a whole lot of restaurants around on the north shore other than the shrimp trucks). You also get to pick which room and which bed you get to sleep on (or rotate every night if you want) since you have the whole unit to yourself! If you arrive during office hours, you have to go pick up the key at the office down the street. If you arrive after office hours, they'll drop off the key at the entrance of the estates. There's a guard there working and you just tell him which unit you're staying in and he hands you the reservation materials. However, when we arrived, there was nobody there and he didn't come back to his post until 20 minutes later. This was the only part that was sucky, but otherwise our experience here was really awesome! Also, if you're traveling through Hawaii for two weeks like us, you'll be thankful for the washer and dryer in these condos! (Our condo was 060 West in case you want to book the same one).

Now that I've gotten a couple of consecutive nights of sleep... I've regained a bit of sanity and energy to write about this place. In a word - DISGUSTING. We are staying at Condo #093 East. I don't know if the condos on the West side are better, but my husband stayed on that side before, which is why we stayed here as we needed temporary lodging for the next 21 days. This review is being written at the beginning of the 21 days. We arrived this past Sunday night tired after a hellish flight and rental car experience of nearly 20 hours. We arrive to walk into the condo and immediately I crinkled my nose. Yes, I admit it, I can pick up scents like a blood hound, BUT I KNOW when I don't like the smell of something. And this was the same. But again, we were locked in, we had gotten a key out of the box ourselves and there was no front desk to complain to. Had this been a hotel, I would have been all over this problem. So we walk in, bring in our one too many bags of luggage and try to get settled. Only we're too tired and just decide we'd rather just sleep. At first glance the bed looked ok. But as I got nearer and actually into the bed, I realized there was a rank odor. The best way to describe it? A mixture of human urine and wet dirty rag smell. We're both tired, but no way in hell I'm sleeping in that. I insist we change the sheets. So my cranky husband helps me change the sheets out. But the comforter, UGH that is just wreaking too. So off comes the comforter.... and the pillows... and damn.... nothing smells clean or fresh. SO, out comes our temporary pillows and blankets from home. Even though all that travel it smells 100 times better. ((ARGHHHH!!!! - and at the time of this writing, next door there is the incessant repeating high pitched grinding sound of a saw going off. ALL day this saw has been going off... and its after 4pm now. How long do you think he's going to keep this noise up? I have to work inside the condo all dang day... this is just so much fun! ))))Anyway, I digress - got distracted by the saw noise. So on Monday, we're tired and hot and sneezing. Why are we sneezing you ask? Well... looks like we were blowing dust at ourselves because we were using a portable fan the night before and didn't realize what it looked like....-massive dust covered nastiness. Not only did they not clean the fan, the ceiling fan, and who knows what else... the air conditioner just doesn't seem to work. This review could go on and so instead - lets just recap in a nutshell the pros and cons of this place. Cons -Dirty, unkempt and needs remodeling, DESPERATELYHad a dead roach waiting for us - because again, they don't know how to clean Smelly sheets, comforter, pillows, throw pillows. Nasty dirty grout and floorsDisgusting showersConstruction going on right next to meSoap suds left on counter, not rinsedDirty fansNastiest carpet in the bedroom. I refuse to go barefoot.Loud ass fans, ceiling fan, and subpar lighting - if the lights work at all. We're paying almost $200 a night here - so not worth the $200 a night. For 21 nights we are paying over $4,000!Pros-Free parkingClean refrigeratorI've been cleaning since i got here, and they want to charge me $115 departure cleaning fee. Honestly they should be PAYING ME for the cleaning I've done so far. DISGUSTING!!!! I'd give this place a negative rating if I could. Waiting to hear from Office Manager. So stay tuned.

We love staying in the condos hosted by Estates at Turtle Bay. We've done it a few times now, and it is by far our favorite place to stay on Oahu. Each time, we've had nothing but positive experiences from start to finish! Our units have always been very clean, adequately supplied, and well furnished. The pictures and descriptions on the website are actually good representation of the actual condition of the unit. Each unit we've stayed in had a different ambiance, style, arrangement, all matching what we saw on the website. Overall, all of them had a very laid-back feel to the units- you are there to relax, not to be a super busy tourist. We've never had an issue with broken appliances, dirty furnishings, missing supplies, etc. The rules of the property are strictly enforced, which is why the place is never trashed or noisy. The location can't be beat. It's on the northern-most point of Oahu, with the most picturesque beaches and tropics. It's just far enough from the big surfing areas, so that you don't have to deal with the noise. You don't hear any cars or tons of tourists here, you just open your window slats and listen to the awesome ocean breeze. It's close enough to walk to the Turtle Bay Resort, and just a short drive from North Shore Beaches or Polynesian Cultural Center. Its location truly is a getaway in paradise. In terms of working with the E@TB company, I've had nothing but positive experiences with them. They've always been very responsive to any of my inquiries, regardless if it had to do with travel, billing, or questions while I'm on the property. On my most recent trip, we had to rent some baby-related equipment from a third party rental company. The people at E@TB worked with that rental company directly to make sure everything was delivered and set up by the time we arrived at the condo, which was a huge plus and made travel arrangements much easier. Also, booking was a breeze. The prices are very decent considering you're in a resort area. They were very up front about cost breakdown. Our interactions overall with the company have always gone well.If there is one major area of improvement, it's the fact that they don't have an office on property, but a 5 minute drive away. Having to drive a few miles to pick up and drop off keys isn't the most convenient option. Also, because there's no office on site, there's no 'concierge' that is available to help renters with touristy things like book tours, rent vehicles, find nice restaurants, etc. Having this extra amenity on the property would be a plus.In summary, we have been and continue to be fans of this property. And as long as they continue to operate in this way, we will continue to be their vacation renters!

This was probably the worst place I've stayed at in the Oahu. It was so bad that I didn't end up staying because of how dirty and roach infested the unit was. If you want to stay in Turtle Bay then make sure to make reservations at Turtle Bay Resort because their rooms are very nice and clean. Their views are amazing and 21 Degrees North has amazing food.

This condo we rented (061 West) worked out very well for us - it was well maintained, clean and had everything we needed. The location was convenient. It was especially nice having the large deck off the kitchen area. Rental went very smoothly from picking up the keys, dropping them off and the return of the security deposit. Short drive or walk to beautiful beach. Would stay here again.

BUYER BEWARE! Do NOT book at Kaluma West 86 Estates. I was fooled as they describe themselves to be a part of the Turtle Bay Resort through Booking.com thinking I was going to be staying at one of the condos owned by Turtle Bay Resort. I was told by my sister a day afterwards whom owns a major tour company the US that they are infact a competitor. To make matters worse, this property along with seven others are using photos and descriptions they pulled from the legitimate official Turtle Bay Resort website to deceive potential clients to book there. These are apartments and you cannot use any of the amenities the resort has to offer. Because of this I had refused to stay there. I tried to get my money back and the manager whom is unfriendly over the phone stated they have a 14 day cancelation policy so he informed they would refund my money if someone else booked it in the same period. Instead they canceled the booking and when I asked to confirm the refund he said I would not be getting a refund so I asked him to reinstate the booking and I instead the went to booking dot com to dispute the matter and explain the deceptive listing which they identified and investigated it and admitted it was deceptive providing me assurances they would properly cancel the booking and refund my money. Instead they never did cancel and refund after exhaustive hours on the phone with them for days after admittedly knowing the West 86 and their affiliate Turtle Bay Rental properties where deceiving people on their site. I have since put this into dispute with my bank. If you have any furthur questions about the usefulness of this review contact Brad Doel, head of Marketing at the REAL Turtle Bay Resort as he will confirm my story and I have the letter to prove it. The REAL Turtle Bay Resort where I ended up staying instead during that same time which is a really nice resort. So lesson learned, do NOT use Kaluma West 86, Turtle Bay Rentals or their affiliates and do NOT use Booking dot com as they wont ever garuntee or protect the buyer from crooked listers in my experance.

BUYER BEWARE!!! If you like filth and bugs then this unit is perfect for you. Even after telling Marilyn from the offices at The Estates at Turtle Bay, nothing was done. Paying a total of $1,097.80 for a weekend stay but needing to leave earlier then normal check out due to covid cleaning is a joke when the unit is in hazardous conditions. Hard earned money was put into this staycation of our one year wedding anniversary and this is the email we got after attempts to talk to someone about the horrible stay at Wicked Wahine unit 012 West. I ask in email who am I corresponding with and they can't even answer that question properly. That doesn't make you as a company look suspicious at all lol. No refund for us but the word of mouth goes a long way. My husband and myself are kama'aina, we will make sure to let all of our friends and ohana know to NEVER BOOK at any of your condos. We thought supporting a local company during the pandemic would keep money here in Hawaii but treating paying guest like their money means nothing is sad. I can go on but I'll just let you judge by the pictures I posted on here. PS forgot to mention if you also like random managers and maintenance workers coming into your unit to check on random appliances to see if they are in working condition, then yes this is the place for you to stay.

I've posted this review in several locations hoping to warn people from renting from this company. We stayed in Condo 21...definitely stay away from that condo.Unfortunately our stay was pretty awful, and ultimately we left. We checked in on a Friday and noticed that the condo was nothing like it appeared on the website. Instead of looking bright, clean and remodeled, it was dirty and run down. We called management right away and they sent a housekeeper over. She really couldn't do much though...so we don't blame the housekeeper. She cleaned up all of the dead bugs, pubic hair off the bathroom floor and wiped down the counters. By Saturday morning we realized that it was MUCH more...broken fridge, the dryer vent wasn't hooked up, my daughter's bed was broken, the jacuzzi tub didn't work (not that we would've sat in the dirty tub without thoroughly cleaning it), an outlet in the kitchen didn't work, bugs galore (every kind you could imagine) , the air conditioner didn't work properly (but how could it with windows that wouldn't shut?) the master bed was filthy disgusting behind it and it felt like we were sleeping on the box spring. Probably the most alarming thing we saw was the giant rat trap in front of a hole under the sink. The place smelled of mildew too. So, I called a couple of times and left a message once (although they say I didn't) and sent several emails (I later found out to the wrong email address!). Didn't hear from anyone and realized we'd have to wait until Monday, when I called. The only thing this company offered was to send someone over, or we could leave and they would refund us for the rest of our days. Nothing for the miserable weekend we spent there...we couldn't even do our laundry if we wanted to dry it. I will absolutely be writing reviews and finding out what the recourse is for a company that falsely advertises their condo. It's absolutely shameful.

I would give it a zero if I could. This place is a hit or a terrible miss with their condos. We stay at condo #11_ and it is worse than the worse motel6. Roaches the size of your toes. The condo is dirty, old and looks run down to the core. I now know why they didn't post a lot of pictures. For $300+ dollars a nite we were expecting a little better. One out of three air conditioners is working. Repair man is too busy say the condo rep. We are trying to focus on the positives but it's hard when there are none...ok near the beautiful beaches...family time....leaving this condo soon!Ps. Hoping the bugs don't follow us home! Buyers beware, check out the pictures and hope for the best, without bugs!
