So its our pre Valentines date. Me and my husband first time trying this place. The parking was great. We seated outside. Its was a nice place. The service was awesome. Our server is so good he knows what is he selling. He's very attentive. I like when they know what is appetizer first like they really make sure like ur done with ur appetizer and then bring ur main dish. And keep cleaning our table so we have space for our dessert. I will definitely coming back here and bring family and friends. FOOD WAS FANTASTIC. Every dishes we order we appreciate it. The money is worth it. And the steak omg PERFECTLY COOK. Everything is perfect. Happy wife, happy husband, happy tummy.

My partner and I were really excited to try The Cutlery, but unfortunately received subpar service on Valentine's Day.Let's start with the positives. Overall the food was pretty good. We got the Prime Rib Paniolo style and it was delicious, perfectly charred and juicy. The Duck Fat Fries were warm and crispy with a rich flavor. The Truffle Mashed Potatoes were very truffle forward and matched well with the Prime Rib.Onto the negatives. After we sat down at our table, we didn't get our waters for half an hour. We were ready to order but after our server dropped off the waters she vanished. When she finally came back, she took the order for the table next to us and then walked away. We had to flag her down to get her to take our order. I get that it's busy because it's Valentine's Day but it doesn't take that long to take our order. I didn't mind waiting for the food because that takes time to cook. The Charred Broccolini was undercooked and hard to eat. The Chef's Special, a whole fried Madai (fish) was really cool, but difficult to eat and needed more sauce. The fish was quite dry and the sauce was only on the bottom of the plate. A little sauce dish or something to pour the sauce on top would've been nice. After we finished eating we had to search for our server again to get takeout containers and the bill. We sat at 7:30 PM and didn't leave till 10:00 PM. Majority of the time was spent waiting for our server. No hate to the server, but it was tiring to have to flag her down every time.Long story short, avoid holidays/busy days here and order the prime rib.

We went there on Valentine's Day, and the food was spectacular. They were willing to accommodate us last minute and even sat us early. Despite being right on Waialae Avenue, the outside seating wasn't noisy. All the staff were helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. We had the porterhouse for two but it could easily feed 3 people, and the bone marrow appetizer was simply amazing. The kids meal was adult-sized and my son was happy to report that the smoked meat was delicious. The duck fat fries were so decadent and perfectly crispy, it was an instant hit at the table. The mashed potatoes were creamy and went with everything, including the duck fat fries lol; DOUBLE STARCH POWER! We shared had the crème brûlée for dessert and it was so smooth, probably the best crème brûlée I've had in some time! Would definitely recommend, and am excited to return soon!

I went to The Cutlery recently with a group of 9, and it was a pretty solid experience. They asked for our orders 48 hours ahead of time because of the big party. The appetizers and mains were amazing--seriously, no complaints there. One thing to keep in mind though: the portions are *huge*. Like, the mashed potatoes could easily feed 3-4 people. And if you're into rich sides, the bone marrow with pickled onions was next-level good. The meats are all smoked with keawe wood, and you can really taste that smoky depth in everything. I had the seafood pasta for my main, and it was really well done--fresh seafood, great flavor, no complaints.Overall, it was a great meal, especially if you like bold, flavorful dishes. Just maybe go with an appetite--or plan to share!

We finally made it over to The Cutlery for an early Valentine's Day meal. I can't believe it's been here in Kaimuki for 3 years already. We decided to share everything. We ordered steamed clams, pulehu tako, 16oz ribeye, duck fat fries, and crispy brussel sprouts. Everything was delicious. The clams came with a broth you would just want to drink. We got some extra bread to soak it up with but I wasn't crazy about it. The bread was toasted but too hard. The pulehu take was so flavorful and sliced. Very convenient. The brussel sprouts were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The stars tonight were the ribeye, which was perfectly medium rare with a nice char on the outside, and the duck fat fries, which were amazingly crispy without being dry or hard. My husband had a coffee which was the best he's had! They serve it with a frothy/foamy top. It's the attention to detail that makes these dishes special. The service is top notch. Our server was so helpful, welcoming, and pleasant. Although the atmosphere is dark and intimate, like a steakhouse, it isn't an uptight, stuffy feel. Because it's dark, the menu lights up when opened. That was fun! Plus, they were thoughtful enough to cut up our steak pupu style! We didn't have dessert but we are down to come back on a prime rib night (friday, saturday, sunday). Plus, there's free parking in the back!

Can't say enough good things about this place. The food was excellent. The prime rib was super tender and they didn't skimp in the horseradish and au jus. The salad's were fresh and the portions were big. The bone marrow appetizer was delicious. We loved the brussel spout side, the mashed potatoes and fries. Everything was spot on. Service was excellent, the waitress was very friendly. The food always comes out perfectly timed. The only thing I would say negative about this place is that the prime rib came with 2 big pieces of fat. I know some locals love this, but I personally do not.If you get the back room, the atmosphere is very intimate and it's not too bright.Make sure you arrive early because their parking lot fills up fast.Overall, this is a must go to restaurant.

Food was everything we expected!! Our favorite was definitely the bone marrow and is a MUST TRY!! Portions (even for apps) were pretty big and is great for sharing! Duck fries were good, but a bit too crispy for my liking. It was good to dip in with the bone marrow dish sauce. Pasta had great flavors although it could've called for a bit more meat since the lobster tail was pretty small. Ribeye was pretty tender and had great flavors. Very buttery, so ask for light butter if you're watching for the cholesterol--lol. Overall, definitely glad we tried this place on vacation!

Light up menus?! What....I've never been to a place that had light up menus- so I thought that was a nice touch. We were seated inside where it was quiet and dimly lit. I came here for one thing - the 7 hour Kiawe Smoked Prime Rib ($60). I'm a big carnivore eater, so whenever I have a chance to eat red meat, I take it! It did not disappoint! It was perfectly cooked, juicy, tender, slight smoky flavor from the Kiawe wood and had endless au jus to dip in. You can only order this on the weekends and MUST state that you would like to reserve a prime rib in OpenTable. Otherwise, they do run out sometimes. The Oxtail Ragu was very flavorful, hearty and comforting dish, on the heavier side but we did enjoy it. The Oxtail was very tender. We also ordered their mushrooms and duck fat fries which were a larger portion than I expected. Duck fat had a subtle taste, but incredibly crispy - the way I like it! Definitely great to share with the table. We took some leftovers home. This is a casual and comfortable spot that locals can enjoy in the lovely neighborhood of Kaimuki. So many great eateries, and this happens to be another nice gem. I think what stands out is the larger portions for high quality and "finer" dining experience of Kaimuki. You can show up in your tshirt and slippas and they'll still serve you here with no judgement. Easy to make reservations online OpenTable. Parking lot available, there was an attendant there that showed us where to park. Easy peasy. Service was really friendly and attentive as well! Recommend!

We made a reservation for 10 for Christmas Eve and was thankful they were able to accommodate our party. The restaurant itself is small but very nice decor. My foodie friend recommended this place so we had to try! We had reservations for 8:15pm and we got there about 30min earlier because they had contacted me and said they can fit us in earlier. We didn't get seated till about 9pm. They were busy and seemed shorthanded. It's a holiday so I totally understand. It took awhile for them to take our order even though we preordered the prime rib. Hostess seemed flustered and wasn't very friendly. Our server was nice but seemed overwhelmed with all the tables that she had. We got duck fat fries and it was so good! The cuts of meat we ordered were delicious! Full of flavor. Hope to come back and try some other dishes when it's not a busy holiday.

We were seated right away when we got there since we had reservations. Parking is very hard in the area but the restaurant have parking right around the back! First impression was that the restaurant was modern, clean and menus were super cool (it lights up lol). Very limited seats, there's some outside and few high tops and tables inside. What we got: - Kiawe Smoked Meat: OMG!!! DEF WOULD GO BACK JUST FOR THIS! Just thinking about it makes me drool lol. It was so good! Well seasoned and very tender! We loved it so much! Serving size is tiny tho, but legit would be so good with rice lol. - Seafood Pasta: I loved this one too! They def didn't shy away from giving you crab. Very generous serving of seafood. Super tasty! Worth getting! - Porterhouse for two: VERY DISAPPOINTING! To think that this is a steakhouse, you'd expect it to be really good but unfortunately it wasn't. We ordered this to be medium rare but it was very undercooked, almost rare on some parts! The outside was so burnt tho that it was tasting bitter. It seemed like they just tried to save the steak and served it even if it wasn't cooked right. Its presentation looked very yummy but when we tasted it, it wasn't as good as it looks! So sad bc we were paying good money for this. Overall, we're down to come back to try other things here. Def would order the kiawe smoked meat again for appetizer. Price point is not that bad compared to other places but I'm really hoping that the next steak we order is better than what we had.
