TEX 808 BBQ & Brews

These people were so great! I tried to place an online order via Yelp (which means Grub Hub), but it never went through. I tried looking for it on Grub Hub but it never showed up on the app. I know! So I called the number listed on Yelp and they said when they called the restaurant there was a recording that said the number was disconnected. So I tried calling the number and it course it was fine. So Grub Hub told me to ask the restaurant to call them instead. And they did! They were SO nice about it all! In between alllll of that, we placed our order in person. It was fairly quick. Initially I wanted to eat there but you can see the bar from the door and my kid thought it was just a bar and wasn't down for that. Surprise! Actually, it's mostly a restaurant - it's just that then bar is nearest the door. Alas, I had already agreed to getting the food to go, so that's that. In spite of the fact that this is a BBQ place, my son got wings and I got fish and chips. We also got fried pickles (one of our favorite things). Let me tell you. I thought these fried pickles were a bit expensive but when I opened the box I knew I was wrong. What a huge order! And so delicious. We for extra ranch (because who doesn't love dipping their fried pickles) and the ranch was delicious! My son got the garlic parm wings and he just loved them. I got the fish and chips and the pieces of fish were enormous. Also, I ate too many pickles so I gave the rest to my hubby. This place is located in the same complex as the Hawaii Kai Safeway so tons of free parking. And like I said, the people are so wonderful. It seems to be co-located with Tio's Burritos so I think you can get food from both places and eat there. They were doing pretty brisk business while we were waiting, so while they are pretty speedy, you can also do yourself a favor and call your order in. Just don't try and place it via Yelp!

I really wanted to like this place, since I've been wanting to try it out for years. Unfortunately, the food missed the mark on Sunday afternoon. The mac and cheese was dry and lacked seasoning, the rib and the brisket were also on the dry side. We also weren't given any BBQ sauce so we just waited for a table to leave to grab the bottles. I'm not sure if it was just an off day, but overall, I wasn't impressed.That said, the atmosphere was great! The views were beautiful, the live music added a nice touch, and the onion rings and beans were delicious. However, the service was extremely slow, which made the experience even less enjoyable.I'd love to give it another try in the future, but for now, it was a bit of a letdown.

Loved the view! Watching the boats drive by was amazing! They were sharing a space with "Tio's Burritos". That was cool to see a mix of decor lol :) They had seating inside, but there were lots of seating outside and it was a lovely overcasted day we had to sit outside. There also was this nice lawn that was next door with a lovely picnic table! For another day....They had a simple menu with lots of variety. We had the Brisket Loco Moco, Garlic Shrimp Plate, and onion rings. Our orders came pretty quickly while we watched the boats float by. The garlic shrimp plate was pretty good, not heavily garlicky like some other shrimp plates lol. The brisket loco moco was kind of salty but tasty. The onion rings were nice and crispy and didn't fall apart which was what we look for in an onion ring :P Overall a good meal and we were really full afterwards XD

I would rate this food a fat ZERO if I could, our food arrived stone cold the brisket had a chill darn near frozen, the St Louis Ribs black and burned the pulled pork dried out and also stone cold , I-sent my food back and ordered a burger it was also absolutely disgusting! I just don't understand how or why they are still in business! The waiter was absolutely fantastic!

Seen many commercials on TV, so we figured we would give it a try. Ample free parking at this location. Noticed that some patrons from the taco shop next door come through to get open seating by the water as well (looks like first come, first serve). Nice chill vibes, with views by the water. Looks like they're dog friendly for those that want to dine outside under their cafe lights and picnic benches, that's also a win. The servers were hustling and I noticed that the supervisor kept instructing the team to clear the tables, and touch as many tables as they can. Also a win, in that they're trying to power through the business rushes. I just wish that the food wasn't overly salted. I personally didn't enjoy any of the meats. The ribs didn't fall off the bone as I had wanted them to, the pulled pork and brisket were too salty for me. And the nachos were also super salty. The chips had a seasoning on it that made it very salty, the cheese made it even saltier, and the meats on top of it just put it over the top for me. I think I went through a pitcher of water that night, felt sorry for the server who had to keep refilling our waters.The best part of the meal were those mini churros. I would come back just for that item.

Service was excellent, great ambiance they have lots of seating indoors and out by the water. The food was so good! I specifically went for the smoked brisket and it was so tender and omg yum!! Everything we ordered was amazing and we will definitely go back to try other things on the menu!

Prime Rib Friday's @ TEX808... OMG ...Delicious & juicy with just the right amount of spices /seasoning to allow the mouthwatering taste to breathe ...yum..awesome sides including baked Potato ( hard to find in Hawaii Kai ... ) cold brew's & cocktails served up by amazingly skilled bartenders ... makes for joyful times for new & current friends... now have added live music too...

I want to say this is maybe the 2nd time we've tried food from here. There was a lot of time in between visits and I remember why now. The portions are decent. Mobile order is great. Food quality is just average. The food is quite salty yet not very flavorful. Brisket was dry and not exciting to eat. Ribs were just okay. Mac and cheese was alright but not very well seasoned maybe. Fried pickles were good but super salty. Chicken wings were pretty good. The one dish I really liked was the Tex Steak and Eggs (chicken fried steak) with potatoes and eggs. That was crispy, large portion, and gravy was good and seasoned better than anything else we ate. I would probably go back more for their breakfast items than anything else.

Twice we came here for lunch and tied our kayak in the marina behind the restaurant!First time, friend and I shared the double BBQ plate with brisket, ribs, slaw and Mac n cheese - enough to share with a little left over!Second time we came on a Tuesday so of course we did $4 street tacos! We got the fish which was battered and deep fried and I got the brisket! Fish was ono and a thin piece, but the brisket was delicious, especially with the BBQ sauce!Love that seating is next to the water! Good service too!

Tex808 was such a great dinner date spot. It's on the water in Hawaii Kai and was perfect break. They offered amazing BBQ food which I loved the brisket and the corn which was slathered in garlic. My partner got the burrito which was also very yummy. We definitely want to come back for the trivia night!!
