I had some business at the Lunalilo Post Office, and thought I'd stop by Teruya's Andagi, which was along my way home.Having been there before, I knew that it was strictly a takeout place. Just inside the door, there's a counter with two display cases: one with various bento, and the other with Sweet Potato Mochi and Andagi. As I was looking at the menu and displays, I was greeted by the lady behind the counter. She seemed pleasant and helpful.I've had their andagi and sweet potato mochi before and knew they were good, but I don't recall having their bento. The menu items were reasonably priced. I decided to try Teruya's Oyako Don and their Veggie Bento. She informed me that the oyako don is made to order and would take a few minutes, which was fine with me.I chose the veggie bento as a lighter option, possibly for my wife. It had a variety of vegetable dishes in addition to the rice. She offered me a choice between one with bitter melon or seaweed and showed me what each one looked like. I decided on the one with bitter melon. When I got home, I ate the oyako don while it was still warm. It was a little on the sweet side, but still tasty and satisfying, with tender pieces of chicken. I'm saving the veggie bento for later, in case my wife comes home hungry.https://bsky.app/profile/raymondkaya.bsky.social/post/3lfiswytgwc2c

This cute little hole in the wall spot has several varieties of bentos to choose from, as well as andagi and sweet potato mochi. Included on the menu as well are donburi bowls and rolls. They also offer plain white rice and fried chicken for those that don't want the sozai (side dishes)We ordered several few chicken rolls (kind of like a chicken musubi) and andagi. The chicken was tasty and cooked well and the andagi was yummy. When you walk up to the door, there is a table which has the bento selections and sweet potato mochi and andagi. The employee at the order table was very nice. There were other employees working inside and out order came out quickly.I would definitely return to buy a bento or two. This place is great for a quick bite, lunch, or even just a snack for yourself or to share.

Teruya's is located on Pensacola St., in the same block as Aunty Pasto's and Von's Chicken. There are metered stalls along the street, and it can get busy during lunch time in this area, so I really don't know when I'd be coming back. I had an appointment in the area though, and I was looking for a snack, so this was a perfect choice.Teruya's is not a sit down restaurant. It is a little take out counter in the doorway of a little room where they make all the bentos and handrolls. When I went at about 11:30, there was a small line, but it moved quickly. I ordered 2 shrimp tempura rolls and at $3.50 each, I thought it was a little expensive, but I guess I'm used to Kozo sushi sizes, because Teruya's handrolls are twice as big as Kozo Sushi's. They made the handrolls fresh and I waited just a couple minutes for them. The cashier gave them to me in little sandwich bags which I have never seen before. I knew they were going to be good because I could smell them even before I was able to dig in. They tasted freshly made and they add a sweet sauce to the rice for more flavor. It was a perfect accompaniment to the crunchy shrimp tempura. I was rather full after eating two. So much for a snack. Service was fast and friendly. I would definitely try other bentos they offer if parking wasn't so difficult. I some people illegally parked, but I don't think I would chance it. I could see a lot of the Kaiser workers or other office workers in the area coming to get lunch here because it's fast and delicious.

This little spot is SO good! Takeout only. I helped a friend pick up a very large order for a party (over 60 bentos) and they were each packed with care; an employee kindly helped cart it out to the car and moved them into the trunk, too! The order was freshly prepared and right on time for pick up.Not only was the service great, but the food was so delicious! I tried the large roll bento and the veggie bento. The roll bento came with a shrimp tempura hand roll, a fried chicken hand roll, a bit of sausage, two croquettes, and some veggies (eggplant and greenbeans). The veggie bento was massive and came with 9 different little items including andagi (fried dough, savory), lotus, eggplant, green beans, daikon/carrot, hijiki seaweed, rice, and squash. It was all so delicious.

Tiny hole in the wall. Take out only. Parking can be troublesome (street parking, no lot). There is usually a small line/wait but the staff are very helpful and friendly. Seriously though, good quality, yummy tasting food. For me, the portions are perfect, I will have a happy but not overly stuffed stomach. PS, follow their instagram, they sometimes pop up at Marukai or the Queen's Medical Center Farmers Markets. Thanks Teruya's, you are great!

I wish this place was open 24/7 so I could get my bento and andagi fix anytime. I'll have to settle for weekends when I'm in town.

My office picked up lunch from here one day, and I got the veggie bento. I loved the variety of vegetables and sides that were in here. It doesn't look like a lot of food, but it was pretty filling. All the ingredients were fresh and of high quality. I think it had eggplant, tofu patty, hijiki, kabocha, purple rice, nishime, green beans, andagi, and kimpira - I could be wrong because I don't know my Japanese food very well.

If you're local, I feel like there are a few foods that one always wants to eat but are not worth the effort of making. This place has two of them: andagi and sweet potato mochi. Having made both andagi and sweet potato mochi (similar to poi mochi) before, they are a ton of work, and I really just want one or two to satisfy my craving. My friends and I had gone to the Moiliili bon dance recently, and the line for andagi was so long that I thought, I'm pretty sure we can buy this somewhere else. It turns out there aren't that many places to buy andagi on a regular basis but this place is one of them! The sweet potato mochi was so good, I ate it before I could get a picture. It was crispy, chewy, not too sweet, and also not too oily. Perfect texture and flavor! I also got a veggie bento ($8.95) and shrimp tempura roll ($3). The veggie bento was delicious - especially the bitter melon stir fry, which was my first time trying it. All of the veggie options in it were good and it was surprisingly filling (but maybe also because I ate two mochi and one large andagi because I was so excited before digging in). Service was very friendly and helpful, and it was pretty easy to park in front on Pensacola. I will definitely be back again!

Every Tuesday my son and I buy their bento at the Kaiser High School Farmers Market. They also helped me out when I needed to order bento for my Mom's funeral service and double checked to make sure they would be able to deliver it to the mortuary. Thank you Albert and Charles!!
