Check.When it comes to finding venues for a first birthday party, I had no idea the lengths people go to snag the venue ahead of time. Some people I know reserve the venue for the first birthday even before the child is born!Imagine my surprise when it was only 4 months til my baby becomes a wild one years old and only just started to look for venues. The perfect storm of graduation season fell upon us and it made it even harder. One night, I was just looking for catering reviews to see if someone had a new idea of a venue and I stumbled on the Honolulu Zoo.Not only do the zoo can be the venue of your party, they can cater and have multiple locations for your party!Fast forward to the party date, we got the luau menu and the food was amazingly delicious! Everyone complimented about the food. They even brought out a keiki activity table and petting zoo animals.Communication with staff was awesome and Eddii was always there for us keeping us cool when things got hectic.I highly recommend Taste and the Honolulu Zoo for your next keiki birthday party!

As soon as my daughter turned 3 months, I knew I had to start searching for a venue for her 1st birthday. I first inquired bishop museum and other places such as koolau ballrooms, dole cannery, etc. Nothing met my expectations as far as the work that was required and inquiring other outside services. I was losing hope, and then I thought of the Zoo! I'm so glad i searched their site and found that they had catering services and hosted events. I'm so glad I inquired because Taste of the Wild Catering was amazing!!!! What got me interested was the guided zoo tours and the keiki craft table! When I inquired, Alex was so awesome -- we set up a time where he met with my family and took us around the zoo for possible venue sites. There are multiple lawn sites that are able to accommodate numbers of people (100-300 people). They also have the room near the petting zoo for less than 100. I could tell Alex was so experienced with big parties because he asked me all the questions and let me know what could be done to accommodate all the details! They take care of absolutely everything! Then a month before, we met again to go over the final details where Alex passed the torch onto Eryan! Alex laid out the schedule, & from there Eryan was my guiding light!! A minor hiccup arose but Eryan tried her best to advocate to fix it for me! Nothing prayer couldn't fix, so I let it go, & continued planning from there! Eryan and the staff were awesome!!! So incredibly easy to work with! I had a party for about 150 people and everyone complimented on the good food (I had a Hawaiian luau menu), good atmosphere, the zoo tours, and just the whole set up! The set up was amazing!!!!! Huge tent that was in front of the stage in walking distance to the bathroom with large lawn space for the kids to run around! Get the optional $125 for parking at Jefferson elementary! Parking on the weekend is HORRENDOUS. Also the critter encounter was pretty awesome! That was a last minute option I included, and proceeds for that portion goes to the petting zoo. They brought out the animals from the petting zoo for the kids to pet! The miniature horse was a hit! They also have an option to bring out the reptiles. Taste of the Wild Catering -- thank you sooooo much for making my daughters first birthday MEMORABLE, FUN, and STRESS FREE as possible. I will never forget this party. I may be bias, but I'm sure because of you guys, this party went down in history as the best first birthday ever!

We just celebrated our son's first birthday with friends and family at the zoo the other week. The classroom was a perfect location for us, close to the playground, close to the keiki zoo, and easy to get to, and not to say has AC (yaas!)and your own restrooms. Eddii was so easy to work with and had everything ready to go, so we could literally just walk in and its party time! He has kid crafts and a selfie photo booth with props. And the food....I had little expectation of what we would get, and i was anticipating moderately good food. But the burgers were seasoned and handmade and char grilled. The hotdogs were not small but juicy large hot dogs and served with sauerkraut and grilled peppers and onion. We were blown away! So ono!! If you are looking for a great location for a party, want good food, and a memorable expert this is it! 5 Stars all the way.
