My foodie buddy has been here in the past with friends at night. These friends were raised in CA and TX and said this place was THE place for good Tex Mex food. Foodie Buddy and I stopped here for lunch today since we were in the area and craving tacos. It was my first time, and I'm SO HAPPY we ate here!!!If it was a little later in the day I would've ordered a margarita, but instead had a fountain drink (free refills), a carnitas taco, and a fish taco. Buddy ordered a fountain drink with the mega-sandwich Cubano Torta, and we shared a Tres Leches cake. Bill came up to $50 and it was worth every cent. Food was delicious and service was great.

This used to be one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, but after my recent visit, I was extremely disappointed. I hadn't been in a few months, but I had always recommended it to friends, convinced it was still great. However, when they told me it wasn't that good, I thought they were crazy--until I experienced it for myself.I understand that inflation has driven prices up, but higher prices should still come with quality food. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I ordered tacos, and they were a huge letdown. The tortillas were dry and tasted old, while the meat was so tough and dry it was like eating beef jerky. For what they're charging, the quality should be much better.Sadly, this place just isn't what it used to be, and at these prices, I won't be coming back.

Was excited to try this place. I know it's been around for a long time but we've never went here until tonight. We walked in at around 7:00pm on a Friday. There were several people in line but the girl at the register was awesome and worked quickly. We ordered a carne asada combination plate, a shrimp burrito, French fries and birria tacos. My husband said the steak was kinda chewy but they gave a good amount of it. He whacked the whole plate. My shrimp burrito was full of shrimp and I can't believe I ate the whole thing! So stuffed!! My cousin had the order of birria tacos which came with 3 tacos. She said it was really good and tasty. The French fries looked kinda stale, I didn't try it but my cousin ate all of it.I like the atmosphere, it was interesting to see the open kitchen. They were quite busy the whole time we were there. People kept coming in to eat in and to get take out. The music is kinda on the loud side but we didn't have to yell to talk to each other. Would definitely go back again and try something else as they have a pretty extensive menu.

Someone toldTo to check this place out so I did it was pretty good I had the tacos, asada , carnitas and chorizo a fish and a shrimp taco the asada was so-so the carnitas were good alittle greasy and the chorizo ( house made) was good the fish was ok the shrimp were good the cashier was really nice they were alittle on the pricey side and they charge for a side of limes which is kinda strange I mean I did spend 85.00 on tacos 2 bean n cheese burritos and 4 drinks which to me is high for a taco shop but we are in Hawaii so I get it but I would come back

Taqueria El Ranchero is the place to be if you want a siesta in your mouth. Hawaii is often believed to not have good Mexican food--and that may be true if you haven't taken yourself of town and to Wahiawa. Here, everything is packed with an explosion of Mexican flavors, you'll want to keep coming back for more.I got their famous Wet Burrito, which is doused in either or both of their red and green chili sauces. These sauces beats trying to pour copious amounts of salsa into your burrito. It does the work for you in all the right ways. The sauces had the right amount of kick and I would highly recommend doing the half-and-half so that you get the best of both worlds. The esquites was a great addition if you want a deconstructed elote. Tacqueria El Ranchero gives every table a free basket of chips and salsa. The chips are fantastic when dipped in the sweet esquites. They also load it up with cheese on top, making for the perfect dip.Next up on the table was Tostada de Ceviche. I loved the chunks of fish that was parcooked in lime juices. It made for a fluffy, yet bouncy texture on the fish while the large slices of creamy avocado completed the dish. The sleeper of the day was definitely the fish tacos. I was a little skeptical because the only fish tacos I had had deep-fried fish fillets, but here, they grilled chunks of white fish. It was absolutely amazing. The fish was still so succulent and carried all of the delicious spices so well. Even better, I didn't feel awful after eating it, like I would've with any deep-fried fish. Service here was pretty good. Everyone was very knowledgeable about the menu and answered my numerous questions as a Mexican food novice. I want to try coming here at night with more friends, I bet it would be a really fun vibe!

For 17$ I'd expect the burrito grande to be Grande! Small burrito. Flavor was descent but not for that price. The burrito grande would be reasonable at half the price. The tres leches cake was good.

I stopped in on my way home from the movies tonight. It has been about a year or so since I have eaten in. I usually grab takeout. Michael provided wonderful service and made an excellent margarita. He was very personable and made me feel welcomed. Even though I was done eating and drinking, he checked on me and made sure I had water and everything I needed. I ended up getting tacos...well I always get tacos cause who doesn't love tacos? Anyways, I had two chorizo tacos with queso fresca and two shrimp tacos with queso fresca. My food was delicious! Compliments to the kitchen staff! As always, the atmosphere is amazing. I will be back and I will make sure less time is in between visits.

10/10 do not recommend the asada fries, I did uber this dish but it still does not explain the AMOUNT OF SALT that was added. TBH idk where the soup came from or maybe oil and cheese melting together. Do not order this dish!

Definitely not the taste I was expecting.. the salsa was good. The beef tacos had an off scent/ fragrance when eating. Too overpowering! Same with the chicken tamal.. Not the Mexican food I was looking for.
