Tanaka of Tokyo was such a fun dining experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. The meal started with a warm bowl of miso soup and a refreshing salad. For my main meal, I ordered the steak, which was cooked to the perfect medium. It was tender, flavorful, and paired great with the sides. The highlight, of course, was the show! Our chef was not only skilled, but also very funny and entertaining. We ended our meal with the matcha ice cream, which was the perfect sweet finish. We also got our picture taken and loved how they turned out. We paid $15 each for our printout, it was the perfect keepsake to remember the night.

I've been here at least 15 times or more . It's always on my list every time we come to Waikiki .Perfectly located steps away from Waikiki beach .We try to always go to a teppanyaki restaurant when we travel and this is surely one of the best .The food , the atmosphere and the service all come together to make a great experience . Just booked another trip to Waikiki and can't wait to go back .

Tried out Tanaka for the first time today and had a great experience! This was surprisingly my first time going to a Hibachi place so I was very excited to try it out. When walking in there was a big line so we were expecting a long wait considering we didn't have reservations but we got seated fairly quickly (15-20 min). The staff were very friendly and fairly attentive. We had to ask for some more water a couple of times but otherwise they were good. The overall vibe of the restaurant was upscale and neat and also very dark. Definitely a good date place but also fun to come with friends and family. All the food was delicious. Everything was prepared in front of you fresh. I got their 10 ounce filet and my girlfriend got their scallops. The complete meal comes with mixed veggies, shrimp, steamed or fried rice, salad, miso soup, and dessert along with the actual entree. Everything was prepared very well and the meat was cooked perfectly. Super juicy and flavorful. The chef also did a nice job of cooking the scallops, perfectly cooked because a lot of times they get overcooked and come out rubbery. The chef was also very nice and made the experience enjoyable. The only thing that I think can hurt your experience is the people that you are sat with. We unfortunately had a whole Karen family next to us who somehow managed to have a problem with everyone and everything going on around them and that definitely took away from part of the experience. If you're nasty like this, stay home or don't be surprised if someone puts you in your place.Overall great spot and would recommend

It was a very unique dining experience! They even took our picture for Valentine's day to purchase. And, every couple/group leaves with a free souvenir picture just for dining with them. The food was good, service seemed busy & all over the place. It was a little too dark & stuffy (hot) in the restaurant. Overall, my husband enjoyed everything & we will be back. Thank you to our chef Mikael, who cooked our food that night...it was entertaining & yummy!

It's like Benihana! We went because it's fun for the kids. They also have pretty affordable meal options too, and you get a show. We had a party of 10 and squeezed into one size. The show was cheesy. You get the huge fire, the onion volcano, the heart fried rice, etc. lol. But the food wasn't bad. I had some horrible teppanyaki before, so this was a nice refresher. For food I got the meal that came with a small filet, lobster and some scallops. I chose white rice. It was pretty good. They give you a decent amount. Comes with a salad, soup, and lots of veggies. Wasn't too bad! It was fun for the kids and my parents who haven't seen this before. We also got suckered into buying some pictures! But why not when we're celebrating a birthday!

Food was good. Price was decent but not for this experience. Server, chef, hostess all the employees were nice and friendly but the gentlemen who took our order he couldn't remember our order several times even tho he was writing all down on his notebook, our chef keeps dropping his cooking utensils and salt pepper shakers on the food which he threw and caught with his hat on his hair earlier... wine glass and champagne flute glass were super short and thick ones like they bought them from dollar tree nothing nice look. It was a surprise gift dinner to my parents but came out pretty ghetto experience :/

While I had high hopes after reading all the positive reviews, the food quality was about what I would expect from a typical teppanyaki place (mediocre). The meat was overcooked on both of our plates (though the cook did his best) and the food quality was just okay overall. The performer was entertaining. The table service was just okay. They got both of our drinks orders wrong on the first round (which they corrected). But service at the start of our meal and at the end was rather slow. The photographer did a great job and put a lot of care and effort into taking some nice photos for us, which all members of my party really appreciated.

We had dinner here with family during the holidays (2024). We ordered prime steaks, wagyu, salmon with fried rice. It was an awesome dinner and it was worth the wait. The chef was personable, funny and great entertainer. He kept us entertained while we waited for our dinner orders. It took him about 45 minutes to prep everyone's dinner. I was feeling hungry and starving , my stomach was growling and I ate everything on my plate because the Wagyu was excellent! Everyone finished their dinner with no complaints. The ambiance was crowded, people were enjoying their moments with family and friends, too many commotions. This is a very busy steakhouse joint that rocks!
