We've been craving for this place for months just didn't have a chance to go by ourselves, as other folks in the family doesn't eat spicy. Today we finally went and it was a really good experience and beyond expectations! The dry pot seems a signature dish, and we were so glad that we chose the chicken ones - as it was cooked very similarly to the Chong Qing chili chicken so we had 2 dishes in 1! The water spinach is not something that could be easily found in the island and I'm glad that they had it. It was cooked with the right sauce and flavors and the vegetables taste fresh. The wonton with chili oil is a signature cheng-du(sze-chuan) dish, and a must-try. The flavor has brought me back to the street food in chengdu and it's so delicious. Besides, they also have a lot of other dishes that we couldn't try yet - the brown sugar mochi, the soup with pork feet etc. this shop seems very family friendly and a lot of families come dine here, even some with super young infant babies. It's not noisy nor crowded. The only thing that I think this shop could improve is the short on staff issue - only 2 waiters were on site on new year day lunch time, and no one refilled our water? But the staff was pretty responsive as when we asked for hot water to heat up the milk bottle for our baby, they went in extra effort to get it for us within their tight schedule.

Although their food tastes good for the most part, it is extremely oily. Also, they have a stir fry eggplant/green bean dish and a stir fry eggplant/pork dish. There is no way to add green beans to the eggplant/pork dish. They just will not allow it although they have a eggplant/green bean dish right in the menu. They will just refuse. Very disappointing. Service is lackluster. The place smells like moth balls and cleaning agents.

CERTAINLY LOST THE SEXY. SUCH A TRAGEDY!!!!When this restaurant opened, we had just watched an episode of Anthony Bourdain in the Szechuan province of China. When we first visited, they had a female chef owner who was quite the firecracker. She personally welcomed us and really made the experience. The food was killer- Spicy and balanced flavors with that signature numbing Szechuan peppercorn throughout. Woodear Mushroom App, Mabu Tofu Stone Pot, and Beef with Garlic Hot Pot were ALL delicious, and family sized, generous portions for the price. She even comped us a, "ICE JELLY," dessert, which was the coolest thing I've seen in a whileOH, how times have changed: Since we heard of the female Chef/ owner's departure, SXY Szechuan was has been a consistent disappointment. MUCH SMALLER PORTIONS, AS HIGH OR HIGHER PRICES, AND COMPLETELY AMERICANIZED. We tasted little to no real Szechuan flavor and at 6pm, the restaurant was empty and it felt very impersonal. Such a tragedy as with our first visit, it had become one of our favorites on the island. Sadly, a product of their own demise. We are totally bummed.

Just can't pass this place up. I like to try new places but if this is within a 1 mile radius, I'm going here. Cant go wrong with anything on the menu. They are fast and the food comes out hot and fresh. Everything you could want. This place is aces!

There is a very odd, almost chemical-like, off-putting smell in the air as soon as you step foot into the restaurant. All of the food items tasted two-dimensional and lacking in flavor. Decent portion size but quantity doesn't really make up for quality. Restaurant cleanliness and friendly service earned 2 stars from me, but that's pretty much it.

Was pleasantly surprised at the authenticity of the dishes! Everything was cooked perfectly and represented the classic Chinese stirfry well. The chicken and potatoes were spicy as expected, so be careful when ordering, but they can adjust the spice levels. Service was quick and food came out altogether and just a few minutes after ordering. We went around 5:30, and there were a few patrons, not super busy and no wait. The inside is clean and open with plenty of booth and table seating. Would come again!

Finally! I've been waiting and waiting to come back to SXY Szechuan ever since learning of new ownership, and that the new owner is the same as Spicy Pavillion that was in the Chinatown Cultural Plaza. Must be more authentic now, right? Yes, it is! And all the dishes match the photos on the menu too.Inside was clean, organized, and busier and livelier since the last visit. Prices are the usual shopping mall level, but good portions! We started with the Spicy Pigs Ear. These were very good! The ears were quite tender, and the flavors came through. The spice level was on the light side, but still acceptable (and understandable).Next was the stir-fried lotus root. A simple and tasty dish. Lotus root was crunchy, and nicely seasoned.Lastly was the Szechuan Flavored Hot Pot with Duck Blood. This was really good. A well-portioned hot pot with a good amount of duck blood, pork intestines, beef tripe, Chinese cabbage, and etc. We went with the "normal" spice and numb level, which was light for us. The flavor was more garlicky. Everything was still tasty and delicious.Overall, everything was good. All the flavors were there. Spice and numb level were toned down, which makes sense. Next time, we'll request for extra or authentic level of numb and spice. The service was excellent. Everyone was attentive and friendly. Will definitely come back to try more things because everything looks good!

This place was unexpectedly good!! My friend and I went soon as they open for lunch,We were the first one but it quickly filled the place soon as they open. The food was so delicious! Wished we ordered more but willSurely be back! The beef drypot was spicy for me but it was sooo tasty and the beef was so tender. The cold garlic pork belly was equally delicious . I didn't care for the green onion pancake I thought it was bland. I think a dipping sauce would've made it better but overall the food we got was delicious. The place is located in Alamoana it's cozy not too big which I liked! Would recommend and would be back for sure!!

Surprisingly decent for Szechuan food in Hawaii. We ordered several dishes and my top three recommendations would be their string beans and pork dumplings. The dumplings were juicy and flavorful and the string beans were perfectly cooked. I had high hopes for the pork belly wrapped with cucumber and chili oil but the pork tasted old and was too thickly but. It definitely lacked tenderness and flavor. Service was mediocre and we were the only ones there for 45 mins since opening which was surprising. The place itself is clean and have ample seating. Would come back to try other dishes next time

One of our favorite places to get dinner at ala moana!! I'm surprised this place is never too crowded considering it's in the mall. We have come here a handful of times, and it's always been a hit with everyone we bring. Some of our favorite dishes are the steamed fish fillets in chili sauce, the spicy pig ears, and the eggplant with string beans. We get everything medium spicy which tends to work for the whole group, and every dish is always really flavorful so definitely recommend getting a side of white rice. The food comes out insanely fast--we're shocked every time we come!!! Definitely recommend for big groups too as the portions are pretty huge, and we always leave really full :)
