I've been coming to Sweet-E's for years, but I'd never left a review (my bad--just went last week, a Yelp email alert popped up, and I have the time to respond now).Six words: corned beef hash and eggs Benedict. Two more: hash browns. Chef's kiss. I was born and lived on Oahu just about all my life, resided or worked in pretty much every area at one time or another. I say with confidence that this is the best breakfast dish on the island. The service, conducted by a bunch of local braddahs, is terrific, too. It can get busy, and parking can be tricky, so just be patient. Sweet E's is worth waking up early for to beat the crowd and get parking.Corned... beef... hash... and eggs... Benedict.

Sweet E's cafe is a breakfast/brunch in Oahu open from 7am-2pm everyday. The place is known for their diverse menu and friendly staff. You truly get an island diner experience here! There's a small parking lot in front of the location and plenty of indoor seating. The staff is playful and made good recommendations. The ambiance can be described as casual and conducive for big families. The portions of the food are good for sharing and are reasonably priced for the area. I'd recommend this place to a group looking for a casual dine-in experience when craving breakfast food!

This restaurant is a great place to get breakfast, brunch, and lunch. The food is a blend of traditional dishes with a local Hawaii twist such as the Extreme Mess, the Kalua Pig, and Corn Beef Eggs Benedict. Sweet E's Cafe is a mom and pop's place that has a family-friendly atmosphere. Parking is limited but there are lots of street parking nearby and it is close to a bus stop so it is very accessible. There are indoor and outdoor spaces. When we are out with our dogs, we like going to Sweet E's Cafe because of the dog-friendly atmosphere. They provide water for our dogs in dog bowls. We usually ask for items that are dog-friendly and they cater to the appetites of our puppies. The staff is great with our dogs. I do wish they had a dog menu. The service is friendly and really quick and the staff makes you feel like family there.

The staff is very welcoming unfriendly. You feel like you're at a friend's house for breakfast. We ordered the meat lovers omelette with roasted potatoes and a side of toast and avocado. We also got a side of fried rice. Everything was good and the food came out quickly. I love their charming little spot. It looks like it's run by a couple of friends that are locals. They engage with their customers a lot, and we're really sweet. Definitely a local spot that must be tried.

You know that a restaurant must be good when you see that all of its parking spaces are always taken and when there are people waiting in the parking lot for available tables. And the only time you may have a chance to get in without waiting is when they first open at 7a and the last hour prior to closing at 2p. Welcome to Sweet E's Café!Opened in Jan 2016, Sweet E's Café is named after is owner, Ethel Kim Matthews. She was formerly a barista at Starbucks who had always wanted to run a breakfast restaurant. The restaurant was formerly at Kilohana Square off of Kapahulu Ave (950 sq ft) and moved to a much larger location (2600 sq ft) down the street in Jan 2016 after other vendors at Kilohana Square complained that all their parking was taken by Sweet E's diners who were also called loiterers. This is a family operation, with Ethel's brothers, Oliver and Marshall also working here, and husband Matt helps to expedite the orders in the kitchen. It has proven itself to be a very successful breakfast restaurant, with people consistently waiting in its parking lot for tables. The restaurant serves breakfast all day. They have:* Various omelets with toast and herb-roasted potatoes, hash browns or rice (eggs benedicts with corned beef hash is popular);* Various egg benedicts with herb roasted potatoes, hash browns or rice;* Burrito with choice of one meat, eggs, hash browns, peppers, tomatoes, onion, and cheddar cheese; * French toast using Hawaiian sweet bread (their stuffed French toast with cream cheese and blueberries is a signature item);* Pancakes and waffles;* Sandwiches of lox & bagel, croissant with choice of meat and cheddar cheese;* Everyday breakfast of choice of meat; herb roasted potatoes, hash browns, pancake or rice;* An all-encompassing breakfast called "Extreme Mess," with 3 scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, ham, peppers, scallions, onions topped with cheddar cheese and served with toast.Lunch begins at 11:00a with salads, sandwiches, flatbread pizzas,Hubby and I had the following:* Everyday Breakfast: two over easy eggs, corned beef hash (or one meat side) and pancake (or one starch side). I loved the delicious corned beef hash, as it was a combination of corned beef and hash browns, and the ratio of corned beef was much more than hash browns. The yummy pancake was fluffy and took up a whole separate plate. The over easy eggs were cooked perfectly. * Hawaiian Omelet: Mess: Portuguese sausage, spam, scallions, onions fried once and enclosed with cheddar cheese in a scrambled egg wrap and served with toast. Hubby's order, and he really enjoyed this! All the meats and veggies complemented each other well, including the melted cheese. So delicious! The food is like home cooking, and is fresh and delish, served with generous portions.Service by wait staff was very fast, attentive, and very friendly, even with a packed restaurant. Our orders were served promptly after they were taken, and water glasses were filled on a regular basis. Servers did not try to rush us out due to their near closing time or to accommodate diners who were waiting for tables. Note that servers were all male.I loved the ambiance and décor of this cozy restaurant. Indoors, there were black and white photos of smiling people and family themes enclosed in black frames. There was beach décor, such as sea shells, starfishes, and coral placed on shelves. There is also covered seating outdoors. Both were very comfortable atmosphere settings for a nice breakfast to start the day with, or even having breakfast for lunch.Sweet E's is open daily 7a to 2p. It is best to be there as soon as they open or an hour before closing to avoid long waiting lines and get a free parking space in their private parking lot; otherwise, street parking is available. No reservations are taken, as everyone is on a first come, first serve basis.Despite the long lines, I am so glad that we were able to get a superb breakfast experience at Sweet E's, which has continued to be popular in the past 13 years. Can't wait to go back to try other menu items!

Ah...Sweet E's...how I love you. Your casual comfort and homey feel. Your always friendly service that truly goes above and beyond to be on point but never pretentious. But most of all... your delicious and decidedly "local" take on classic diner breakfast with touches you can ONLY find in Honolulu. Truly a local favorite for very good reason. Get there early if you don't want to wait in line... but even if you get there late... the wait is worth it.

The entire trip from Germany all I could think about - other than seeing my family - is food. I'm on Oahu to work the Islandwide Christmas and craft fair this weekend for the of launch our PokkiBoToWanaHeaD books (on Amazon too!) and merch - and I'm not on island long otherwise so I need to have the best local meals possible.I'm checking out Yelp! and this place pops up. Wow great reviews! Pics look ono. 5 mins away - shoots! Well I forgot about Punahou exit traffic while driving into the sun, so much fun. 15 mins later I'm pulling into the parking lot of what I swear used to be a tourist water rental place. Parking is kind of close like most Hawaii places so if you have a monster truck I hope you get one of the bigger stalls. Greeted immediately, seated on the lanai, even though I thought I was early at like 7:40 there were already people done and leaving. I can see why now as the waiters are extremely attentive. Iced water as soon as I sit, coffee a minute later, and my order taken just as soon as I put my menu down. Had to try the stuffed blueberry French toast so got that along with the spinach and feta omelette. No surprise the food came out quickly. What was a surprise was the first bite or the omelet. I could taste the garlic. Not overwhelming but not nonexistent either. SO GOOOOOOD!!!! There was choke goodies in the omelette and the feta was the right amount. The stuffed French toast is really good. It's the reason I'm sitting here doing the review as I eat, before I forget. The first bite was a total surprise. I could taste a light coconut flavor, almost haupia like, before the blueberries and cream cheese kicked in. Just wow. Add the fact that the coffee is good and they topped it off continuously, and that I heard them ask the other table if they wanted coffee to go as they were leaving, and honestly I'm blown away. This is better than local breakfast done right. This is about as close to a perfect local diner breakfast experience as I could have asked for. I've eaten all my omelet and hash browns, and most of one of the French toast. The rest is coming with me for a later snack. This place gets all the love they deserve. I'll certainly be back with family and friends!!

It's been a long time since I've eaten here but after shopping one day, my mom wanted to grab brunch so we decided to go here. The weight was only about 10 to 20 minutes and luckily there was parking. I ordered the everyday breakfast with hashbrowns and corn beef hash. The food came quick and the corn beef hash with a little burnt, but overall was ok. There is a lot of seating inside and outside and service was quick and friendly. Definitely will be back again.

In Kapahulu, Sweet E's is a breakfast/brunch/lunch spot with limited parking in the front but a good amount of seating inside and outside! We found street parking since the lot was full and were seated quickly, which was nice because it seemed like they were pretty full. We've been wanting to go here for a while but have always delayed it due to the parking -- it turned out to be okay! There is an inside area and outside area. Both were pretty pleasant with a good amount of airflow and natural light. We got the Kalua Pork Eggs Benedict and Croissant Sandwich. The service was quick and we got our food promptly. We enjoyed both food items. The sandwich was good -- nothing crazy but pretty solid. Next time, we hope to try a sweet menu item or an omelette!

This was my second visit here and I enjoyed the breakfast both times. The place was always bustling, which is a good sign. The atmosphere is very welcoming and comfortable. The first time I had the Extreme Mess, a three egg combination of pretty much everything. Nothing fancy but just tastes good. Comes with toast and really fills you up for the day. The second time I had a sweet tooth so went with an order of their stuffed Enchanting French Toast. Three thick slices of sweet bread French Toast are stuffed with cream cheese and blueberries. Again, nothing fancy but really hit the spot. They're so good I didn't need to add any syrup. As busy as it is, the service here is excellent. I really like it when I go out to breakfast and they keep your coffee filled. The server even filled up cups for us to take on the road. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a good breakfast spot!
