Sushi sho has a reputation for being one of the best omakase on island (most expensive too) and it is a well deserved honor. Each course was beautiful plated with diverse flavors and highest quality ingredients. The first course of tofu was the most delicious tofu I have ever tasted. I have no words. Each course was amazing. The RICE blew my mind. We got the sake pairing (they move on as soon as you finish your glass), three options for dessert, and additional add ons at the end. We got 5 additional add ons. All were delicious but I didn't care for the ikura (it wasn't seasoned) It's an intimate setting with 10 seats, three sushi chefs, and a wait staff. Our chef was so friendly, knowledgeable and was able to accommodate to my no Wasabi request. This is located in the Ritz Carlton. Enjoy !

After having an excellent experience at Sushi Sho's New York branch, I was eager to try their Honolulu restaurant while on vacation there. Booked and prepaid online over a month prior, necessary for this venue. The restaurant is located on the 7th floor of the Ritz Carlton in a beautiful space, although not as intimate as in NYC where one walks into a dimly lit romantic room. The meal was excellent with inventive flavors and pristinely fresh ingredients, with some of the fish sourced from Japan as well as from Hawaii and mainlaind US. Dessert (jelly noodles with brown sugar sauce and sweet tamago) was a pleasant surprise. However given their high pricing and several other factors (summarized below), this was not a five star experience. 1) Unlike Sho's NY branch, one cannot purchase a whole (nor half) bottle of sake. Instead sake offerings are limited to pairings selected by the chef, or pricey individual 3 ounce pours. 2) I was seated underneath a bright spotlight that was warm and uncomfortable.3) Sushi Sho has a strict official policy that prohibits diners from arriving more than 20 minutes after their appointed rez time, which supposedly triggers payment in full. A reasonable policy given their perishable imported ingredients. We arrived a few minutes early and sat down in the waiting area, but I was tersely instructed by the hostess to move to another seat. We're used to being told where to sit at the omakase counter but never in the waiting area, so that was a strange feeling. Two other couples arrived after us and we were all seated about 10 minutes later than reservation time. There were 4 empty seats remaining, so we assumed those customers weren't coming. However that group walked in over 30 minutes later, seated promptly and served. I have never seen that happen in a premium omakase venue before, and feel the pacing/mood of the entire meal was negatively affected. The situation could have been handled better for the sake of group harmony. The restaurant should follow its own rules, ne?Although I wouldn't hesitate to dine at the New York Sushi Sho again, I'm not so sure about the Honolulu branch.

(4.5) an intimate 10 seat omakase located in The Ritz Carlton residence - Waikiki. I can confirm, the quality definitely matches the price tag. Each course was spectacular and the ambiance was just stunning. My only complaint are the additional dishes ($) and the fact that they do not allow videos :( Don't get me wrong the additional dishes were incredible, and I'd pay for them again! Just a heads up to look out for while dining here!

This review is for the take out that we pre-ordered online on their website, which you can only do at most twice per month. I highly recommend for those who are not able to dine-in and still want to taste their amazing food! We ordered both the Bashi Chirashi and bentos and both were excellent. They use traditional Edomae technique to cure the ingredients and sprinkle it all over a thin layer of sushi rice. Not only was it all packaged beautifully, utensils and moist towels were provided as well. It felt like we got a good taste of the high caliber Sushi Sho provides even tho we did not get to step into the restaurant. When you exit the elevators they're located all the way down to the right. They were quick to find my name and order, and all you need is your confirmation number. Eat well all in the comfort of your own home!

I would rate this place a 4.5 stars if I could. The sushi and experience of watching the sushi chefs prep and create delicacies were truly amazing. They serve about 20+ courses and offer ala carte towards the end so that you can either retry your favorite sushis or opt for ones that were not offered during the original course. The servers were also highly attentive, never letting your water glass become close to being dry. When I read about how others have experienced as great of a quality for a lower cost, it does make me wonder if there are other places worth trying. In the mean time, I will take comfort in (hopefully) trusting that the team is being well-compensated for their quality and efforts. In essence, I would love to return but will need to pick up extra shifts first!

Had the chance to experience the renowned 10-seat sushi sho in Waikiki. The staff to guest ratio is like 1:1 that makes the service impeccable. This place pushes the boundaries of sushi by combining local and imported seafood in unexpected ways. Fresh isn't always the go-to here, as they serve aged, wild yellowtail nigiri that challenges the notion of 'fresh is best'. ® The 30ish-course omakase also showcases the chef's creative mind with unique bites like a local lime with "caviar like" fruit that the chef put on top of a piece of cod... and a surf-and-turf combo of snail roe and oysters on chawanmushi was to die for!Make sure to book your reservations 2-months in advance to secure your spot!. if you can't snag a reservation, don't worry! Sushi Sho has got you covered with their amazing takeout deal: a $40 bara chirashi packed with 20 different diced assorted seafood and veggies, including uni and abalone, served over sushi rice.

Sushi Sho is one of the dining options at the Ritz-Carlton Residences - they only have 10 seats for their omakase experience. It was about 20+ courses, and there is an option to add on a la carte items of any particular servings that you enjoyed during the omakase.Everything was presented well, and the interior of this restaurant is beautiful, with the arching wooden walls. Definitely a more intimate experience with the limited number of diners.I would love to try their to-go chirashi the next time I'm in the area!Cute place for a date night.Reservations are required.+located at the Ritz-Carlton Residences

i come here every year. every year it's been a 5/5 experience. I get that their focus is the NY location right now but the Hawaii location still is solid. Only gripe is the lack of a lot of sake options.

A famous chef from Tokyo is using the hawaiian local fish and other seafood such as oysters from WA to make his edomae style omakase in Honolulu! This was one of the must visit sushi Omakase places on my list, so my sweet boyfriend tried to make a reservation for months. However he had no luck getting a call through or email back from them. Since we knew that it was located at Ritz Carlton, I leveraged my Ambassador status at Marriott Bonvoy to see if we can get a hold of them. Magically, it took no efforts and they booked us a reservation immediately. So if you have an elite status, we highly recommend you to use it!Ambience- 4/5. It's nice, but not extravagant or anything like that. We did dress up and so was everyone around us.Service - 4/5. Honestly, nothing special. You'd expect a better service for the price you are paying.Sushi - 4/5. Sure, their sushi tasted good, but each piece was so tiny and not satisfying. When you bite into it, you can't really enjoy the mouthful of joy. Instead, the sushi disappears in a second. I'm not saying it's a bad sushi. It was surely delicious, but is it worth the money? I don't think so. If you come from the area where there's no good sushi Omakase and money isn't an issue, maybe it's worth it. But you can get this level of quality in Japan for 1/3 - 1/2 the price. Even if you come from LA or NY, you can get the same level or even with higher satisfaction level for a few hundred dollars cheaper. So I wouldn't necessarily come back here for sushi omakase unless someone wants to try it badly. It was a good experience though.

I was looking for an omakase spot last minute to top off my solo trip to Hawaii and Sushi Sho was by far the highest, most recommended place that I saw. I was somehow luckily able to snag a reservation for 1 and although I was a bit hesitant because of the price tag, knowing how difficult it is to get a spot here, I thought it was a sign I could not miss out, and I'm so glad I did it.From the thoughtful service to the carefully and delicately crafted dishes, Sushi Sho has become my all time favorite omakase experience. We had a total of 27 courses including dessert and it was such a delight tasting each dish not knowing what to expect, but genuinely enjoying all these flavors in a new way. The staff make sure that your dietary preferences are met so that you can have a completely well rounded meal that you will enjoy. Thank you Sushi Sho for an amazing time, this will def be one of the most memorable experiences of my Hawaii trip.
