We ordered the 19 piece omakase. Each dish was a stand alone showcase and memorable. The sushi is gracefully and carefully crafted by the sushi chef and simply yet beautifully presented. The flavors and freshness are pure and satiating. The calm and elegant atmosphere is maintained by the staff because of their pleasantries, professionalism, and peaceful demeanors. Seating at the bar holds up to 7 so be sure to make a reservation. One reviewer mentioned he was underwhelmed by the dessert. Respectfully, I believe the peach gelatin dessert was perfect! It was a fresh taste that cleansed your palate. Plus, it was adorable to eat.

we looked for an omakase experience in Oahu and felt that Aki delivered. While it was not our first choice, we thoroughly enjoyed the dishes and the cozy ambiance from the chef and staff.21-piece course omakase:Tried something I have not had in omakase..fish testicles! wow. While it was well prepared and tasted delicious, I do not like fatty guts much (e.g. liver) so this might not be something I will look forward to ordering in the future.Fresh and attentively prepared pieces!I am no connoisseur in sake. They have a decent selection of styles to choose from and I also enjoyed a plum wine on the rocks.Parking is in a paid lot, not validated.

Sushi Aki is a quaint little sushi restaurant tucked away in a plaza in Honolulu. While it might be a bit challenging to find due to the lack of signage, the intimate and cozy atmosphere inside makes it well worth the search. They offer 2 omakase options - 19-piece omakase and 21-piece omakase. I opted for the 19-piece omakase, which offered a delightful variety of fresh and high-quality sushi. The pace was quite fast, which worked perfectly for me as I had a flight to catch. One unique aspect of dining experience at Sushi Aki is that not everyone in your group is required to participate in their omakase experience. If someone in your group wants to order from their a la carte menu then that is totally fine too. My 19-piece omakase included-1. Bluefin tuna and rock bream sashimi2. Striped Jack sushi3. Seared bonito4. Flounder sushi5. Salmon roe6. Chilled corn soup7. Rolled egg omlete8. Seared scallop9. Steamed egg with snor crab and shitake10. Saltwater Eel and vegetable tempura11. Seared vinegar cured Mackerel12. Black sea bream13. Abalone in liver sauce14. Chutoro15. Sea Eel16. Tuna skinny roll17. Yellowtail 18. Seaweed miso soup19. DessertThe highlights for me were the sea eel, melt-in-your-mouth chutoro, mackerel, black sea bream, scallop, and the delicious chilled corn soup. The 2 courses that fell short were the dessert and the abalone in liver sauce. The dessert was basically tangerine with tasteless jelly. And the abalone was a bit chewy. Overall the dining experience was great. The intimate setting allowed for interactions with other diners, adding to the charm of the restaurant. If you're looking for a good sushi experience in Honolulu, Sushi Aki is definitely worth a visit.

First of all I want to congratulate Sushi Aki on 1 year of business in Kaimuki! This small door is right when you walk in to the unassuming location in the parking lot. You walk in and there should be a door right to your left. Please do not confuse Restaurant Aki with Sushi Aki. Restaurant Aki is the regular Izakaya/Yakitori location, and Sushi Aki is a separate entity as the sister restaurant. The experience was top notch and at a 19-course omakase with a bonus sushi at the end which would actually equate to a 20-course omakase for $135 this is an extremely good deal. The sushi chef was extremely skilled and I am always extremely impressed at the dedication and skill that these chefs possess in making everything perfect. When molding the rice to wrapping it, and even the way the fish is cut to accentuate the taste of the fish it is all choreographed perfectly. The waitress was also extremely attentive and helpful in making our experience great. Overall an amazing experience. I definitely would want to go again with my family or friends. Standouts for me were the chawanmushi which is probably the best one I've ever had. Limited ingredients in the mixture really allowed for the flavors to be expressed even more in the dish. The chutoro is and HAS ALWAYS been my all-time favorite so you already know I loved it. The anago (eel) was melt-in-your mouth, and the chef did an amazing job of prepping certain seafood that I usually am not crazy about, yet everything tasted so good I have no complaints. LOL!The ambiance was exclusive. Counter seating only with a small private room in the corner. Albeit a little bit cramped once more people started trickling in, but a great experience to sit right in front of the chef and watch him do his thing. I hope Sushi Aki stays for a long long time forever because I will be dreaming of this omakase meal forever. LOL

In fact I will give 4.5: A very small intimate sushi restaurant (had 7 seats at the counter plus one small room). We had 21 omakase course (but you can get your choice of bonus sushi so 22 in total)Sushi, Shirumono, tempura, and abalone were all good. I deducted 0.5 for Sazae because it was a bit salty by dipped soy sauce too long plus a waitress served tremendously hot tea so that I couldn't hold a cup. Overall it was a nice memorable omakase course, Mahalo

Wowowoow. I'm always wary of places promoted by Instagram because it's often the decor that's stellar while the food is lackluster. But we took the chance to try this place out while here on vacation. The price for their 19 course is crazily affordable at $130 pp. The fish is flown in from Hokkaido fresh, and the chefs are trained in Japan. Our chef was so masterful in handling the fish. Each bite was exquisite and it was so hard to choose a favorite. I'll be dreaming of this meal for a while. Our server was extremely friendly but not over the top in tending to us. I would gladly come back here time and time again and I'm so sad I'm not local to do so. I hope this place makes it because it was such a gem. It's located next door to their sister restaurant and it can be easy to miss but look for a black door and signage.

I was looking for quality sushi place for lunch. There are very few omakase place open for lunch. Boy i was lucky to found this tiny sushi place from Yelp. Sushi Ali is such an intimate and cure place in Kaimuki but offers big flavor. It's reservations only. i brought my brother and his wife from Taiwan with total of 5 people, sitting at the counter. I am pleased to find that omakase is required for not everyone. We ordered two 21 courses omakase and other sushi/sashimi to share. The most memorable dish is the seared shirako (fish sperm sacs). This is the first time I tried and it's so creamy. The service is good and sushi chef is awesome. Highly recommend!
