TLDR: Their carne asada fries changed my entire brain chemistry.Came by after going to the beach in turtle bay as I was craving mexican food. Especially as Surf N Salsa is right next to a few other food trucks, it's the perfect spot for indecisive groups trying to grab a bite. You basically just have to walk right up to the register and order, once you have ordered you will be given a little stand with a number of it which you will take and place at a table you'd like to either wait or dine at. Once the food is ready, someone will come out looking for your number with your food. It's very nicely lit with a lot of comfortable seating to go around. The wait was a bit longer than I would've liked - it took about 15+ minutes. It seems like the truck is family owned and operated as it seems like one of the lady's at the registers kids and dog were running around the place (and the cat peacefully sleeping). I got the carne asada fries, i've never had it before but I felt that it called to me that day and i'm so glad i ordered it. Everything was just so smoky and flavorful, the fries itself had a meaty flavor and wasn't bland. They were also extremely crispy and stayed that way while eating. I had to ask for a couple green and red sauces to drench this bad boy in and it hit the SPOT. Honestly if I didn't live all the way in town i will be coming here a lot more frequently.

Food: Great food! I got the cali burrito 4.5/5. Portion size is huge none of us could finish it. Chips and guacamole were also solid 4/5. Only downside is that they're a bit stingy with the salsa and guacamole. The agua frescas were also good! Watermelon is sweet and refreshing 5/5 jamaica 4/5. And they have tamarind jarritos!Service/ambiance: Order and self serve. They have a water filling station which is lovely! And you grab the drink out of the cooler yourself. Ambiance is great, the seating is outdoors and cute. Parking: There's a small lot outside for the food trucks in the area.

We spent a day exploring the North Shore area of Oahu and came across Surf N Salsa. This is a permanent food truck in a courtyard with some others, serving basic Mexican inspired fare such as tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. There is outdoor seating in a small courtyard in front of the establishment, and limited parking available. We ordered a burrito, rice, and fries and were happy with the food quality. The burrito was freshly made and the ingredients had a good flavor. The rice was fairly standard, no spice and a more subtle Mexican taste. We got a large order of fries and they were hot, crispy and a lot of them! Check the photo but it filled up a carry out container, this was more than we could both eat and we ended up tossing some out (that we didn't feed to the birds ).We had a nice lunch and would definitely go back if we had the opportunity.

As a former Californian, I can tell you Mexican food is hard to come by on Oahu. Surf N Salsa is worth a visit if you're missing that. I got the surf and turf burrito which was big and full of all the fixings. My favorite part though were the carne asada fries - they are not to be missed. My friend and I came on a Saturday evening at 7:30 and had to wait an hour for the food to come out. Thankfully we weren't too hungry and the outdoor seating area was pleasant enough but that is a crazy wait I don't think I can justify for almost any meal no matter how good it is.

Always love eating here and don't come often enough. There is a wait for food, sometimes over 30 minutes, but they cook to order, everything is made fresh and it's worth the wait. Plus they have seating so you can relax, enjoy the sun and listen to some tunes while you wait.Today's haul was tacos, chimichamgas, empanada and tamale. Everything is full of flavor. We love the chicken chimichangas! They have cheese and rice inside and they are so cheesy. First time trying the empanada and tamale. We got the pork empananda and I liked the filling. It has potatoes in them too and come with a nice little salsa. The tamale had pork Verde inside. I liked the ratio of pork to masa but I didn't love the crispness of the tamale. As always though this place does not disappoint!

This is a popular place. Very busy and a wait for food. But it's good when you're looking for Mexican food. I came for lunch and had their asada tacos with guac and cotija cheese and it was great! I came back for dinner with my husband and had chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. Not bad, but I prefer the crunchy taco. My husband had 2 chicken soft tacos, but they were out of guac... and I think the toppings play a big part in over all flavor. Either way, good place to try.On a side note: my husband had a mixup on his order and the owner kindly fixed it with a new dish. Great customer service!

You could split between two people.I loved their outdoor seating in the back. It was comfortable and shaded with a great view.It just took about 10 minutes to get my foodI also got the pineapple Agua frescas which was just okay in my opinion but the food is amazing

The cutest taco truck! The owners did a fantastic job with the boho style of their truck and seating area. It's absolutely adorable. The food was great and large portions too. I was so happy that the lady at the register was knowledgeable about food allergies and easily able to help me navigate my son's multiple food allergies. My only complaint would be there were an excessive amount of flies which was very annoying. Not at the owners fault at all of course but just an FYI.

One of our favorite Mexican restaurants on the island! So good! We love to get the crispy carne asada taco plate. We have tried the fries, which are good as well but we prefer the taco plate. While it is a food truck, there is seating in the front and back of the food truck. There has often been a line whenever we have gone so I would be prepared to wait. There is parking in the lot in front of the food truck, which can get crowded. The service is friendly and the outside tables and decorations are cute. These tacos are super good and every time we have gone, they have been filling and yummy!
