Superhero Hula

I have always been meaning to learn the hula dances for few of my favorite songs, but you can only learn so much via YouTube videos, so I decided that on my next trip to Hawaii I would find a way to get a "one on one" lesson, and I found a fantastic one!!!A quick Google search led me to Sarah and "Wanna Hula?", and it was an awesome experience from the moment I contacted her, all the way to the end of my lesson. She was very quick with responding to my inquiries and I was able to arrange a private class for my friend and me at Magic Island. Hula on the beach...can there be anything more awesomely Hawaii than that?The meeting location was clearly indicated so it was easy to find and Sarah was even early for our lesson. She was great about offering suggestions on where to hold the class (comfort, view, etc.) and had the lyrics to all three of the songs I had inquired about printed up for us too.For the next hour, my friend and I got a dance tailored to our dancing experience/ability (I have danced on and off since I was 5 yrs old and my friend had NEVER done hula in her life) and I can't believe that we were taught an entire song in only an hour! We got the video recording add-on and Sarah provided a tripod that works with cameras and phones so it was easy to record the dance. The video is going to be so handy to review when I get back home :)I can't recommend this enough, especially since this will be much better souvenir of your vacation than a tiki doll or a pineapple mug :-P

Sarah Chang of Wanna Hula is a consummate professional who loves the art of Hula, and this shows through in her teaching. She makes it fun for all of us to learn hula, and I think it's fascinating to learn that there are descriptions and meaning behind every move! I have personally watched Sarah teach beginners, and have them dancing, pretty good I might add, within minutes. She has great people skills and is very easy to work with. I would recommend Wanna Hula especially for beginners who may not consider themselves dancers, yet need to be 'up and dancing' in a short time. 2 thumbs up for Sarah Chang and Wanna Hula!

I wanted to do something fun for my sisters 50th birthday. She is a resident of Hawaii and has always wanted to Hula dance so...I found Wanna Hula? and Sarah! Not only did we have the most spectacular view but we had the best instructor. She taught us the basic moves and we then got the dance down! We took home a little video to never forget and had the best time laughing but enjoying the culture of Hawaii. I would recommend Sarah to anyone who wants a private lesson. I hired Sarah as a hula dancer for an event. She was on punctual and polite and effortlessly graceful! My guest really enjoyed her performance! It was a pleasure working with her to help my vision come alive. Many people said that her dance was what really made the event spectacular. We have many international guests and we wanted them to experience authentic Hawaii culture and Sarah did an awesome job. She has so much aloha in her heart and her very presence embodies it! I highly recommend Super Hero Hula and Sarah's wonderful services to anyone! I saw that she also does private lessons and I think that would be very fun to try out! I hired Sarah for a private event and requested that she choreograph a hula for a special song to me. She came to the event and danced beautifully to my chosen song and even recorded video. All of my guests that attended, commented about how beautifully Sarah danced and I continue to hear how great she did a couple of years later. Sarah is my go to choice for hula lessons here on Oahu and I would highly recommend her services to anyone looking for hula performances or lessons.

Sarah was amazing. We had the pleasure of seeing Sarah perform at our wedding in Laie, HI. She was very accommodating to our late schedule and dealing with the father of the bride and groomsmen during one of her songs. Everything was beautiful. She even helped me find a fire knife dancer when her usual contact was not available on our wedding date. So glad we chose Sarah and Wanna Hula.

At the end of our session, Sara danced for us - and it was one of the most memorable moments of the trip. She was absolutely magical. It was better than any high-end entertainment show - to simply sit and watch the magic of hula through her.

First of all, Sarah is an amazing teacher. I took lessons from her to learn a hula for my husband as a surprise at our wedding. I had never taken a dance class before and she made it so easy. She really took the time to best figure out my learning style, which is the mark of an excellent teacher.For my hula, she created a dance that was specific to the moves that I naturally do best. She took the time to teach me, not only the moves, but also the meaning behind the movements. This made such a difference in the intent and storytelling aspect of the hula, which is what I originally wanted to convey to my husband.I cannot emphasize enough how amazing and fun Sarah is as a teacher. She encourages and motivates in the perfect ways and the outcome is amazing. My husband was completely surprised and loved my hula on the wedding day. His family is Hawaiian and it meant so much to me that they appreciated the dance and all the work that went into it. They were really impressed and I have Sarah to thank for it. I recommend her 100% and am so grateful that she was my teacher!

Sarah gave my friends and family an amazing Hula lesson while we were in Hawaii for my destination wedding. She went above and beyond to organize the class for us (despite many dramas in the planning process beyond our control) and we had a great afternoon learning from her. It was an event full of fun and laughter - and a good workout too! We learnt three dances, and their meanings and history, and were also lucky to have her dance for us at the end. And Sarah was the sweetest, most lovely person (even going so far as to give my mother a lift back to her hotel afterwards!!).
