Meet me where the sky touches the sea ~If you're going to spend a day at North Shore, you gotta check out the sunset views here. We came here a few hours before sunset to find parking and just chilled on the beach. The beach is pretty stretched out, so we camped out near the crooked Palm tree (check on Google maps) because there's a restroom and showers right across the street and it's a 5 min walk to Ted's Bakery. The waters are nice but the sunset is absolutely gorgeous. Just imagine chilling on the beach with the calming breeze and just admiring the breathtaking view with a loved one. It's just perfect.

Lucky we live Hawaii! Lucky we caught a glimpse of the Hui O He'e Nalu Shootout surf competition at Banzai Pipeline near Sunset Beach. The killer waves and the no fear, pro surfers made for an amazing show at sunset. How do they do that?!?! Incredible athletes. Parking can get crazy, but we were lucky enough to find an open space along the roadside. Sunset Beach park offers free parking in its lot, but it can get pretty congested with cars circling in hopes for someone to leave. Probably not gonna happen until sunset draws near. Not only did the event attract a variety of onlookers, beach goers arrived to get their tan on or simply to sink their toes into the sand. The views are breathtaking and is worth the trip out to take a peek or spend an hour or so laying on the shore. Bring your slippahs, sunscreen, sunglasses, and towel and you're all set!

While on our short n sweet trip out to Honolulu, my gf made the decision to designate one day strictly for beach bumming. Due to the congestion that is Waikiki, we jumped into our rental and drove out to North Shore.Parking was an absolute breeze. There is an abundance found along the road.Perks of coming to Sunset Beach:-There is plenty of room between you and a neighboring visitor. Nobody was in my personal space and the beach was pretty secluded.-Breathtaking views are guaranteed no matter where you happen to be.-Very relaxing and serene. I really enjoyed the change of scenery, even if it was only for a few hours.Bring plenty of sunblock, a hat, music, and maybe even a book. Find yourself a cozy spot and indulge!! 5/5 stars.

We absolutely love Northshore with all the lovely beaches that not everyone knows about. Sunset Beach area is one of my favorites. There wasn't a lot of people but this might be because it's low season. Then again you can expect everyone to be at Waikiki or Waimea Beach.

Great beach across from the Ehukai Pillbox Hike. The waves are strong and crazy. I didn't feel comfortable in them, but my bf and cousin were about it and strong swimmers, so they floated for a while. There is a lifeguard on duty. Parking can be tricky, but luckily we were able to find some. It's less crowded then most beaches. People also go fishing here, so be careful there may be a long line above you.

The sunset at Sunset is a must.Sunset Beach is my go-to beach for sunset hangouts. There is ample parking along the makai (ocean) side of Kam Highway and a parking lot on the mauka (mountain) side of it. It's easy to get here by bike too; there is a shoreline bike path that runs through this beach. The bathrooms near the mauka lot are well kept, but the stalls don't always have toilet paper. There are outdoor showers for rinsing off next to the bathrooms. Sunset Beach has made some upgrades by having a boardwalk at the main entrance, lined with endemic shoreline plants to make the beach a little more accessible. Be aware that there isn't much shade though, as is usual with O'ahu beaches. The surf always takes my breath away during the winter season, and the ocean is fun to swim in during the calm summer season. When swimming, keep in mind that there is a drop-off 5 feet away from the shore. Love this beach and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

This is a really nice beach that is easy to find, not too busy and has parking along the busy road We came across it because all the other beaches where too busy or had no parking. This place has parking available on both side of the road and even a bathrooms too. The beach got a lot more busy right before sunset

The bf and I chose this place to watch the sunset and it was absolutely beautiful and stunning. There weren't many people here and the waves were pretty strong. The wind was coming in cold, but the view was just breath taking. The tide gradually rose as the day went by, but the sunset was like no other. It's the perfect spot to enjoy the sunset. I would love to come here again. Most likely I would never swim because the waves are way too strong for me, but I'll just lie out on a blanket or towel and enjoy the breeze.

'Ehukai Beach Park presents some of the gnarliest waves known to man and houses the infamous Banzai Pipeline that has tubes that'll eat a person whole and spit 'em back out with the sound of a gentle 'SWOOSH'. People from all over the world specifically travel here to surf these waves due to their size, power, ride length and incredibly shaped tubes, bruh! Courageous kids as young as 12 years old were out there with some of the big dogs who appeared to be in their fearless 50's. We saw a few great sets that some of the skilled surfers were able to ride lasting as long as 30 seconds to a minute. The wipe-outs were phenomenal and recoveries were just as remarkable. It's a test of will, mental power and inner human strength - we all possess this and these eye opening moments reminded me that as humans we can be resilient - despite what the world puts before us.The water is just as blue here as any part of the island and the action in it is much more intense than other spots. It's warm and perfect to dip your feet in, though with heavy drain-like currents, it isn't necessarily best for the inexperienced swimmer. They do have lifeguards on duty and post warnings if needed, i.e. Jellyfish, heavy currents, dangerous shore-breaks, etc. Conveniently located across from the 'Ehukai Pillbox hike - 'Ehukai Beach (Park) is a superb spot for that after hike picnic, quick ocean cool-off and plenty of surfers out rippin' dem' waves. Hang ten, brudda!

What's not to like? Finding a parking spot, walking the path, seeing Pipeline for the first time.... blue and beautiful, not big by Hawaiian standards but big enough. HA! Then coming back later that weekend when waves were supposed to be 25-30 feet only to see most of the North Shore washed out including Pipeline. The ocean was a churning out of control wave machine. It was something else to witness but humbling at the same time... Not even 2nd reef could handle it. You could see 3rd reef Pipe feathering now and again. It was amazing to see both faces of Pipe. Walking and seeing it for the 1st time is something I will never forget. The sun was shining. The sandbar had formed that little natural lake for kids and kids at heart to play in. It was amazing. Just standing there in the sand and getting your feet wet looking over your shoulder and seeing the Volcom house and Gerry Lopez's house. It was sacred ground. It was a privilege to be there. Everything was beautiful. The water, the sand, the women, etc... Paradise. I'll never forget it and it drives me to come back. So park in the lot across from Sunset Beach Elementary if there's space available. If not, everyone else parks on Kam Highway. There are restrooms and showers right by the walking path just behind and to the right of the parking lot. Cant wait to go back. It's really hard to describe... Aloha A Hui Hou.
