Needed a sit down breakfast. Since I haven't been in this area and wanted something other than McDonald's, Jack In The Box, or Wendy's. A local suggested Sunnyside. I was going to the courthouse and it's located right across the street, so why not. Ordered a local favorite, Loco Moco. Yeah I should have ordered one of their specialty. But was just hungry and tired.Service was order at counter and have a seat. Had to get my own coffee which was strong and good. Like it that way. Was served from an airpot, so it way scalding hot. After eating, I wished I order the plate lunch instead. Serving was too small for my belly, and the plate lunch looked plentiful. Burger was excellent, not a hockey puck, tender and easy to eat. Gravy is great and not watery. And THICK!, not dribbling like some places. Overall, I would have given 5 stars if the serving matched what I paid.Serving size may have been skewed in my mind as I was comparing with others. But the taste sure made up for the size disappointment. Yes, will return. But might order a double, as double the price will make it a plate lunch, not breakfast

Sunnyside has been in the same spot for years..I believe ownership has changed but the food is still good and somewhat affordable....Define "affordable" mostly less than gyppies. There is a small indoor dining area not sure if it was airconditioned but it must have been or I probably wouldnt have stayed...If I recall correctly there is an outside window and inside window to order. IF its grab and go then you would use the outside window.Menu is various plate lunches .... Burgers...in most parts the usual local fare...The staff was cool..place seemed clean..not sure if had publicBenjo but pretty sure would have to have...So if the locals been coming here for years you know its gotta be worth going to..

Get your pie fix here! This place is famous for their delicious pies! But, get there early before they sell out!We love their Chocolate Cream Pie! But, they do have other fruit pies and even a Chocolate Haupia pie!We visited here after going to the Christmas Tree Farm nearby. Besides pie, they're known for their plate lunches & breakfast items. Their menu is huge so there's something for everyone! We got a variety of things. Here's what we got:1. Loco Moco: my dad ordered this and it came with lots of dark gravy with an egg on top. He devoured it so fast! 2. I ordered corned beef hash with eggs & hash browns. Everything was so flavorful! The eggs had lots of butter! The hash browns were thin and crispy. 3. My hubby ordered Chicken Cutlet but he was disappointed to see there was no gravy on it! I'm not sure if you have to ask for gravy? He said the chicken was flavorful but, still needed a sauce. 4. Fish Sandwich: My mom ordered this & it was okay. It was just a fish patty with tartar sauce & lettuce. Overall, if you're in the Wahiawā area during breakfast/lunch, be sure to pick up a pie and plate lunch!

First time here for lunch. Cashier and all the staff greeted us and was very friendly. She gave us the rundown and recommendations of the menu. I met the owner Lucy and daughter Laura. They gave us a brief history of the restaurant. We had fun and laughter with a little magic entertainment. It had a nice comfortable and relaxing ambiance. Parking was easy right in front. We had the Pork Chop and Hamburger Steak plate. Both were outstanding and flavorful. They really smothered the onions over the pork chop, so good!Portions were good size with leftovers for another meal. And of course, we couldn't leave without ordering chocolate pudding pie. That topped it off, so delicious!I will surely be back and try other menu items soon.

Gee, I was so wanting to try Shige's Saimin in Wahiawa that I convinced Jamie W. to take a 90-minute ride on a public bus to get there from Waikiki. It was delicious and worth it (review: https://yelp.to/ZIMH533vrM), but then we found we had a half-hour before the return bus. I had recalled from a local vlogger that this was the place to get some homemade pie. Well, it sounded like a good way to kill time.It took us about fifteen minutes to walk over to this modest breakfast cafe. Indeed they had five different pies on display, and slices were sold at $5 a piece. Jamie and I shared two slices - the perfectly cut Pear-Peach (photo: https://yelp.to/XiAqQvijFW) and the fallen apart Blueberry Cream (photo: https://yelp.to/4p7JbxTw7m). Didn't matter because they were both delicious, but man, we have to catch the bus. Gulp.FOOD - 4 stars...very good homestyle pie...they know howAMBIANCE - 3 stars...just a plain coffee shopSERVICE - 3 stars...rather unspirited TOTAL - 4 stars...not worth 90 minutes on a bus but if you happen to be in town...RELATED - Exploring Hawaii? I love breakfast. I can't start my day without breakfast. And Coffee Since someone was craving fried rice, a suggestion was made to call in a takeout order of fried rice. I voiced my preference for the fried rice special. Love the taste of the bacon bits and tiny spam generously incorporated into their fried rice. The taste of the fresh green onions sprinkled on top. When we dine there, it has a quaint old diner feel. Service is always fast and friendly. Their pies are so delicious but that deserves a separate review

Friendly service but to be honest, the food is just okay. Nothing really special about the breakfast I had. I've had better loco mocos. The thing that really brought my review down a few stars are the constant flies flying around us as we eat. Definitely one of my turn offs. Feels dirty and I don't like waving the flies away as I am eating my food.

This family run restaurant is located in Wahiawā and it was clean and people are very friendly. It is like going to eat at your uncle or auntie house and they cooked food for you. So it was not fancy and you get what you ordered. This was our first time here and after we ordered, we noticed people are coming here for hotdog fried rice. So I plan to try that next time. The only downside is they're using everything paper plates and no real plates. I wish they would consider using real dishes.

Portuguese sausage and fried rice were surprisingly bursting with flavor, while the presentation did not seem so. It was absolutely delicious! The waffle was about in par with other waffles, nothing special, but loved the homie and cozy ambiance. Definitely a local family restaurant feel and service reflected as such. Would definitely go again for the sausages and fried rice!
