I recently had the brilliant idea to have a ramen bar for my daughters grad party. I ended up ordering noodles and broth via phone ahead of time. I just told them how many servings I needed and they were able to accommodate me. Their pricing is very cheap and reasonable. They accept credit card, cash, or check at pick-up. There's parking along their fence line for pick-up. When facing their building, go to the very left and ring the doorbell on the pole. Someone will come help you. Definitely will be back to get their fresh noodles!

Happy 40th Anniversary to a local Hawaii business!Sun Noodle (located in Kalihi, Honolulu) advertised a giveaway on Instagram. They were giving away forty ramen kits and I happened to be one of the winners!I responded to the Instagram message from Sun Noodle - they offered delivery or pick up. I chose to pick up and take my prize to my mom's house to share with my family. The factory is located in the industrial part of Kalihi with no parking. Luckily, the gial who answered the phone quickly ran outside to greet me, went into the refrigerator section, and returned with a heavy box of ramen kits. When I opened the box at home, I was surprised to see 16 servings of a variety of noodles! Besides Ramen, there was soba, Okinawan soba, and tsukemen style (dipping) noodles! It was very challenging to decide which one to eat first because all of the soup bases sounded delicious! A toss up between the Garlic shoyu and the miso, I finally decided on Seafood tonkotsu. The tsukemen noodles take six minutes to cook. The dipping sauces use 1.5 cups of hot water to reconstitute. (I saved the spicy tantan for my brother-in-law who ate two servings!)My niece loved the pork broth and thin ramen noodles which only take 1.5 minutes to boil! Everyone loved the firmness and chewiness of each type of high quality noodle!Thank you to Sun Noodle for the very generous gift! My family and I really had a fun foodie event by decorating our own noodle bowls! To Sun Noodle: May you enjoy many more years of success and happiness! Congratulations on your 40th Anniversary!Note: frozen noodles may keep for a couple of months. If kept refrigerated, the noodles will last a few weeks.Hint: if you don't want to order from the factory, you may find Ramen Kits at Don Quixote!

This review is for the Ippudo ramen kit Sun Noodle is selling. These kits are $20 each and the broth is from the famous Ippudo Ramen in Japan, but this one is from New York.I have been to Ippudo so many times. First in Fukuoka and later practically every time I have been to Japan so I am very familiar with the taste. Ippudo remains one of my most favorite ramen along with Ichiran and some others. So when I heard they had Ippudo kits, I had to get my hands on some. So, let's get this over with.... is it good YES!Look, you are NOT going to get the same type of ramen from Japan from 3 frozen packets. Everything is frozen - the broth, the tare (sauce) the char siu and even the noodles actually. NO instructions were provided! Luckily online reviews said heat the broth for around 10 minutes. I put the sauce and char siu into the water around the 7 minute mark.I cooked the noodles around 2 min 30 secs. When you go to Ippudo, the bowl is BEAUTIFUL!!!! It just looks as good as it tastes and if you are lucky enough to the go the Ippudo in Osaka by the Osaka Hilton, it is AMAZINGLY GREAT! Make that INSANELY GREAT! SO DARN GOOD!So this kit, makes a bowl that doesn't look anything like Ippudo. It looks exactly like what you think - broth, noodles, a couple of piece of pork and the spicy sauce. Missing is the all the rest of the toppings - kind of weird since they do provide these missing toppings in some other online kits.In the end, the noodles were better than any Sun Noodles I have every had. I honestly didn't know they could make noodles that rocked this good. The broth was good; It did not taste like Ippudo's killer broth but it was good! If you use the entire sauce packet, the entire bowl was red which I don't recall in Japan. But the entire experience was good. There was lots of delicious noodles!$20 is kind of expensive for a ramen bowl, but this is probably the best "kit" and ramen I have made in my house. It's so much better than the $10 Ichiran noodles you can buy at Marukai. This kit is better than any ramen I have made at my house from a packet or otherwise. So is it worth it? I think so. It was really good...Thank you Sun Noodles for making this available. This will just have to do until I get back to Japan....

I'm a super big fan of Sun Noodle - and their factory is a hidden gem as it offers their delicious noodles at even lower prices, and with even more variety! The kids love their nama udon ($2.20 from the factory, but it makes SO much noodles!) which expands so much from the 15 minutes of cooking in water. We're fans of their tsukemen noodles - ramen like but way thicker noodles that grab onto whatever soup base you dip it into - and the factory offers it in sleeves for about $1 per bundle. I've never seen this in stores so we consider ourselves lucky to live near the world famous factory that lets us access such exclusive noodles for a good deal...I also really love their jiro garlic ramen - sold at Don Quijote and Marukai, but significantly cheaper ($3) at their factory. The broth is so rich and tasty and definitely reminiscent of ramen at those fancy ramen shops! Will def be back!

Sun noodles are my favorite ramen noodles! It's a perfect texture of chewy and firm. I always buy the wiki wiki frozen noodles so they last for a while. Today sun noodles were giving out 1,000 packages of a 10 pack of noodles! They decided to let the public know they are open everyday for business and there is no shortage of food / noodles during this coronavirus pandemic. There was a crazy line to get it, but I managed to get mine within 10 minutes! Thank you to all the workers and sun noodle company for providing tasty noodles to us! I feel grateful that I was able to pick up a package because I heard the event got shut down early due to traffic! Anyway you can still buy sun noodles at any grocery store or come back to the factory here.

While browsing through Island Grocery Depot's Kahului store, I came across a pack of Sun Noodle's Tonkotsu Ramen. Already loving their Shoyu version, I was hesitant about trying it because I'm not a huge tonkotsu fan, mainly due to it's color and creamy flavor. Luckily, this bet paid off!TONKOTSU RAMEN:The 2-serving pack comes with separated fresh noodles and 2 packets of base. When I make ramen using fresh noodles, I always use 2 pots, one to boil the noodles and the other to boil the dashi, then throw the noodles in to have a searing hot bowl of ramen, the only way to eat it. The directions state to dilute the base in 10-12 ounces of water, 12 was perfect. The flavor was really good - creamy, porky, and is a little thicker than traditional broth. I wish I could've decorated it with toppings but this was just a quick lunch in between my day-off list of chores.OKINAWA SOBA:These fully-cooked, thick, white noodles also comes in a 2-pack tray. Even though the noodles are pre-cooked, most folks will want to boil them a little longer as they are super al dente. The dashi flavor is a mix of bonito-beef-shoyu. It's a different, unique flavor that I could probably get used to.YAKISOBA (PLAIN):The 6 ounce package of full-cooked yellow noodles doesn't come with any dashi, so it's up to you to find your own seasoning. Luckily for me, my mom has tons of dashi packs from the Saimin noodle bags, so that goes perfect with these noodles as a stir fry. Toss in some sliced Spam, bean sprouts, shoyu, and oyster sauce for added flavor. You'll definitely need at least 2 packs to feed one person.YAKISOBA WITH SAUCE:This 11.5 oz. package is the better of the two, mainly because it comes with powdered seasoning. I pan fried some Spam, fried the noodles for a bit, added 1/4 cup water, then added both packets of seasoning, which wasn't overly salty at all. Delish!SAIMIN:They offer 2 styles, one with a thicker noodle in the white bag, the other thinner in the clear & orange bag. Both are 2 servings in 1, and come with dashi packs. I love these both ways, either as traditional saimin or stir fried.SHOYU RAMEN:Our local Costco sells these as a 4-pack, so I get 8 servings of piping hot, salty shoyu ramen on demand! They freeze well and I don't even have to thaw the noodles to cook. The packets of shoyu-oil thaw out in no time, and the end result is ramen shop quality & taste. Just add your own toppings.MISO RAMEN:Having had horrible-tasting miso ramen in many-a-restaurant, I was hesitant to try this. I'm happy to report that their version rocks! The broth was full of flavor and depth, and when combined with their eggy-flavored noodles, sent this baby into orbit! Highly recommended even for the miso hater! FACT:Ramen Lab in NYC is run by Sun Noodle, and features guest chefs that cook in front of you while seated at a traditional ramen bar. Can't wait to try them!OVERALL:Another winning product from this now nationwide company that started out in the 808. Can't get good ramen at a restaurant, like on Maui? Head to your grocer's refrigerator and grab a package of this diamond in the rough good stuff and settle that craving!
