I would be remiss if I didn't update my previous one-star review of St. Louis Drive-Inn.I was driving home on Waialae Avenue and slowed at the intersection for the red light. I saw that there were only four people near the order counter so I drove into the lot.I recall seeing the restaurant closed a few months ago while they were re-paving the parking lot. There are a dozen parking spaces plus one ADA stall. I was taken aback because 8 of the 13 parking stalls were occupied. Why were so many parking stalls occupied if only 4 people were near the order counter and one of them was a child? Ah, I didn't see the 5 people eating at the six plastic tables on the right. When I went up to the order window on the left, a woman stuck her head out from the right window and asked what I wanted. Wow, quick service compared to last time. She took my order yet still, it took about 12 minutes for me to get my food. To be fair the seafood bento I ordered had a lot of different items which were cooked from scratch since they were all still warm when I got home and ate. So 12 minutes may be warranted. The food is always good but now that they have modified the ordering process, St. Louis Drive Inn has earned my respect.

was in Kaimuki... "let's go eat" said Mom.My 1st, experience at St.Louis Drive Inn.Got there early, for breakfast... My mom & I, got the same, only she had hers OE. Appearance...plated nicely (ate some, then took pic) Service was ok.. she pointed us to the breakfast menu.. (looking confused)Ambiance, outside seating which is typical in Hawaii... perfect! Ppl kept coming after we sat down... good consistent customers. I'd go visit again and try different items. [Appt was at at Longs. Ha! NOT Kaimuki Longs... hence we went to St.Louis Drive Inn.My appt. was at Kahala Longs instead. ]

This place is a hit or miss. This time we tried the fish and other things. The fish was the best thing they had this day. Gotta support local. They still out their food on a plate and given in a pie box. The good ole days!

Eat like a local and pick up your plate lunch or bento here. Locally owned mom and pop drive in has been serving 3 generations of my family. Pick up a bento or plate lunch and head to the beach like I did today. Today's special is the ahi tuna belly bento but I went with the mix plate which had beef stew, teriyaki beef and roast pork served with mac salad and rice.

Dec 2024 update. St. Louis Drive In keeps on plugging away. They got through the pandemic, they have dealt with worker shortages, they have coped with rising food prices. Not as cheap as before, but they gave always been a step behind the competition when raising prices. $10.50 for roast pork plate lunch? Deal! Breakfast specials that include a drink for under $10- deal! They have a stew bowl of the day, tuna sandwich and drink as a breakfast special every day except Sunday. The rotating stews are hamburger curry, beef curry or regular beef stew. deal! The arch-typical mom n pop drive in, they have been around for seemingly forever. The service can be pretty slow- but still worth the wait. They are an institution in Kaimuki and brings back memories of when the drive ins ruled the fast food landscape before the national chains came to Hawaii.

I love this place!! Everytime I am on this side of the island (and even when I am not) I gotta go here.... The place is from a time or era or bygones long ago your typical old drive inn....small parking lot (Probably 15 parking) and most times always crowded....Get one okazuya next door and they busy too (dont know what its called but very popular) just be prepared to wait because like every othe place nowdays they are short handed and when a place is popular it gets more nutz.....There is no place to sit and eat (used to have before the pandemic) but not anymore....now its just wait for parking wait for your food and go....definetely worth the wait.Food is awesome and very affordable and menu is your typical drive inn fare....The Japanese deluxe plate is unrealz ...Mochiko chicken ..teri beef...shrimp tempura...sashimi..scallops and mac salad for $14.50....Anyways its all good!!!

St. Louis Drive-In is a gem! The food is consistently delicious, offering classic drive-in favorites with a Hawaiian twist. Their BBQ cheeseburger is a must-try, and the portion sizes are generous for the price. The crispy fries and onion rings are the perfect side, and their plate lunches offer great variety if you're craving something heartier. The service is always friendly and fast, even when they're busy. It's a casual spot, so don't expect anything fancy, but that's part of the charm. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or taking food to-go for the beach, St. Louis Drive-In hits the spot every time.Definitely one of my go-to places when I'm craving comfort food!

This place was almost our daily spots for breakfast and lunch about 18 years ago. I haven't been here since my workplace was relocated. I'd say, it's been a good 8 years. I dropped off a friend so I decided to grab breakfast here. The lady who took my order was nice. We said our morning greetings to each other. I ordered Vienna Sausage with over medium eggs & white rice. This was $6.80 for the plate before tax. The second plate I got was Portuguese sausage, scrambled eggs & white rice. I also got a free small Green River drink. The plate came out to $7.50 before tax. I got a side of French toast for $4.00 before tax. My total all together was $20.21 with tax. This is super cheap. It would cost me twice more if I got these from another breakfast place. There is parking stalls or find a street parking. You can find them across Saint Louis School and Chaminade University. There's a few tables and chairs you can use but it's not so clean. Probably best to eat in your car or go to a near park or eat at work or home, wherever you're heading to. As always, thank you for reading my review. Have a great weekend!
